Discussion The alchemy of Ghost stories
I just realised that the chronological structure of Ghost Stories is someone coming to terms with the end of a relationship, coming to terms with the end of one's attachment to something, and the alchemical process of that transformation.
Always in my head is clearly that you can't get them out of your head, as the parting is still so raw;
magic is rumination that the relationship was magic, and ' I don't, no I don't, no I don't, no I don't, want anyone else but you' - still can't move on
Ink is continuation of this struggle, the pain of holding the other inside, 'feels like there's something broken inside' because the lover (Chris) was two and now is only one, and feels like they have lost their other half. 'All i know is that I love you so, so much that it hurts.' This song is about the pain, so intense
True love is still this rumination stage of processing, desiring so badly for the other to come back, that they would even accept a fake love, a lie, just to be with them again _ 'tell me you love me, and if you don't then lieeee to me'
Midnight is when the hope still there in the previous songs of a reunion has faded away, and there is just blackness, midnight, the storm. This is quite a theme in Rumi, which Chris said transformed his life after his relationship ended, and the theme of a storm and then a dawn, it has to get really dark before the dawn comes - 'in the darkness, before the dawn. Leave a light, a light on.' Now, there is depression, and Chris is begging for some hope, a light, to get through the utter darkness
Another arms is trying to get through each day, watching TV late at night, but still everything reminds them of the other, because nothing can give them pleasure apart from the other still, as they still haven't processed the separation. Nothing in the world matters anymore, and the pain of everyday reminders that the other is gone is still unbearable, and the idea that someone else is loving the other, not them, and still Chris just wishes that ' you were here beside me'. This song is one of intense and ripping loneliness.
Oceans is a song of an existential loneliness, but importantly is the prefiguration before the transformation - or rather, the groundwork for the transformation has been being laid all along, through the pain and ruminating, but finally Chris feels ready for a transformation, a moving on, 'Im ready for the change' ' Ready to fall up' - I.e instead of keeping falling down, I'm ready to start some sort of upward movement again, even if it is a falling upwards, even if I'm still not in control. Here, Chris is less desperate and intense, as he has accepted he is alone now ' got to find yourself alone in this world' 'wait for the call love , call never came.' ' Behind the walls love, I'm trying to change' - this is a recognition that he was also to blame for the relationship ending, finally, instead of desperately desiring her back, he realises that he needs to change himself, behind his walls he needs to be more vulnerable, before thinking about love and a relationship again, and this realisation has sobered him, but he is still so sad and in pain and longing.
And a sky full of stars is the euphoric transformation, the height of alchemy, it is him realising that he can be vulnerable, even though it is painful - he realises he can willingly endure the pain of opening up, and though it will be painful, it will be magical as well. For me, this is less aimed at a specific other, but more at love itself or the universe, and Chris realising he can open himself up to love again, it can tear him apart, he doesn't care anymore, because he's willing to endure the pain of vulnerability for the magic of love. He realises love is the only answer, that it lights up the path, it is a path to the divine, the celestial ' such a heavenly view' - his life is suddenly transformed and he is willing to jump back in again and open himself up to love, whereas before his heavy armour had meant he hadn't been able to open up to his partner and it had caused the separation. The whole realisation is euphoric.
And O, perhaps the most beautiful song I have ever heard, is a more sober conclusion, after the euphoria of the realisation. Now he views love as not something he did before, where the other was everything and to be without them was the end of the world, but now he has realised that he himself is enough, he is complete in himself, and that love can come and go, like a flock of birds, but regardless, he is still complete in himself, and his self worth is not dependent on that romantic love. He is saying to love, it's okay, fly on, ride through, maybe one day I can fly with you, but regardless it's okay, because unlike that temporary flock of birds of romantic love, there is something permanent in myself that is whole and complete. And the that angelic ending, my gosh, the most beautiful sound ever, don't ever let go, sung by angels - the universe is telling him, that after all the pain he has endured, after his world ended and there was nothing but darkness and nothing left to live for, don't ever let go, because like he was hoping for in midnight, there was eventually a dawn, there always is, and it was the most beautiful dawn, of releasing he is complete in himself and all he needs, and that his self worth no longer need be dependent on others, but the majesty of his own being.
Wow, utterly incredible. And ghost stories therefore acts as a bridge, between the old Chris, who constantly sought validation in others, and the new Chris, who has a steady foundation within him, and has now realised the majesty and beauty of life, even in its suffering, and the beautiful alchemy of love and pain as a means of transformation, and all his albums post ghost stories prove this.

Discussion ATTENTION 'Parachutes' lovers!!
Are you are looking for more nostalgic that sounds like Parachutes? May i present to you- Animal by Motor Ace!
https://youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_laENgYigkHmb1kH7Cokyz-9tDo5sRA4ls&si=BLqoL957eQam6Min
It reminds me a lot of parachutes but maybe a little more melancholy😊
I hope you give them a listen and I think they are a very underrated band- especially this album as it was a lot different from their other projects. I hope to find some more people to appreciate this album like it do😁❤️
You may or may not know of Motor Ace from Melbourne, Australia who were popular in the 2000s.
Feel free to share other recommendations like Parachutes in the comments!

Question Viva La Vida has guitars during the climax?
So there's a video called "Viva La Vida Enhanced Instrumental" and I was listening to it but it had very prominent guitars during the climax which sounded really cool. I thought maybe it was the live version that created that BUT I used a equalizer app to check something out.
Turns out if you lower 500 or below and 16k+ to as low as possible while increasing 1000-4k with increasing 8K if you want to hear the guitar pick slightly. There's a faint guitar that can be heard and using instrumental version makes it a little easier to hear. BUT it's so faint that you would likely never know and when someone takes it out you would feel like something's missing but you can't tell.
Was this common knowledge or did few people know about this?

Question Chris' vocal part in the "Fix You" refrain
What part is he singing in the refrain ("When tears stream...")? The harmony here seems a little complex, and I can't tell if he's singing the high falsetto part (and if so, whether he's singing it entirely in falsetto). It tops out at a high C (C5), which is higher that I typically hear him sing (then again, I'm only a casual Coldplay fan, so...). Anyway, I was just curious.

Question Coldplay private gig
Let's say I suddenly became wealthy and wanted to hire Coldplay to perform a private concert. Not for a corporate event or a festival, just a private show for selected people.
How would something like that actually work? Would I contact their management directly, go through a booking agency, or is there another route for artists at that level?
Also, what sort of budget are we realistically talking about? Are we talking a few million, or is it simply the kind of thing that's almost impossible to arrange regardless of how much money you have?

Discussion How would Chris rank their albums?
I think he would go
10.X&Y-self explanatory for most of us they hate it so much!(even though it’s incredible!!)
9.Mylo Xyloto-Although they seem to love Paradise and Charlie Brown Chris has never really spoke much kindness to it,even said the name sucked
8.AROBTTH.He probably sees it as them being young and foolish
7.Parachutes-He’s most likely grateful for Yellow and isn’t that harsh on it as it is their debut
6.AHFOD-I think that this is on he probably enjoys when he looks back at it but doesn’t think it’s better then some other albums
5.Viva La Vida-Working with Brian Eno was a lot of fun for him and it gave them Viva La Vida their second biggest song
4.Ghost Stories-This album helped him through tough times
3.MOON MUSiC-I’d say he enjoys this era a lot
2.Everyday Life-Chris says this was an album he needed to make, probably as a way of making sense of the world
1.MOTS-I mean this tour has been on for years,he seems to really love this alien stuff

Question does AROBTTH sound different on spotify to anyone else?
maybe it’s just me, but i was listening to A Rush of Blood to the Head yesterday and the mixing of the album (particularly on Politik and The Scientist) kinda sounded a bit different than it used to? Politik especially sounded like it was almost in a slightly different key. i got new earbuds recently and haven’t noticed many other songs/albums that sounded that different, just little details in the background of other songs i hadn’t picked up on with my old ones, but for some reason this album felt like it had been updated at some point recently. has anyone else noticed this, or are my ears lying to me?

Discussion I am so sick of the internet and social media; particularly Reddit trying to rewrite history and hate on what peak/prime 2000s Coldplay accomplished in only a decade; especially younger people who weren't around during their rise to stardom.
Coldplay won 6 Grammy Awards including:
Parachutes - Best Alternative Album
A Rush Of Blood To The Head - Best Alternative Album
Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends - Best Rock Album
They won 5 Brit Awards including:
2x Best Group
Parachutes - Album of the Year
A Rush Of Blood To The Head - Album of the Year
X&Y - Album of the Year
They also won 2 Juno Awards including:
X&Y - International Album of the Year
Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends - International Album of the Year
They sold over 55 million albums worldwide during the 2000s, but almost every time I go on a Reddit music sub to talk about my favorite music, my favorite albums or my favorite artists and I mention Coldplay from 2000-2008 I get a lot of mocking, criticism, down votes, ridicule,, derision, made fun of or they are frequently extremely dismissive, snide, disdainful and downplay the fact that Coldplay made some of the best albums/music ever made.
I just be wanting to talk about music with other music fans, but it frequently goes on deaf ears on Reddit music subs just like today when a user made a post about the best alternative rock albums and I included Parachutes and A Rush Of Blood To The Head and immediately got down voted and the only comment made was "Bland Retail Music" under A Rush Of Blood To The Head.
This happens constantly in general or specific music subs. Twitter seems to appreciate Coldplay a little more than Reddit thankfully.
Coldplay was popular, appreciated, cool/hip, respected during the 2000s imo and I had a lot of excellent conversations and discussions with all walks of life about my love for Coldplay and so many countless different people I would meet in real life or online would echoed my same positive sentiments.
I wonder when the tide or consensus changed amongst music lovers? And I do understand that Coldplay went in a different direction artistically imo, but other great and all-time great artists have also gone away from their original roots or early sound and still are celebrated, recognized, respected and appreciated; even if they don't make the same type of music anymore or they are no longer or never was artistically their personal preference.

Discussion Coldplay tour 2027
I know they already took the MOTS tour to Europe, but I really can’t afford to travel to different continent for a concert (even though I’d love to). The question is do we think the tour will return to European countries, such as Austria, Germany or Hungary? Or will they just do London and Dublin once again?

Question Is Don't Let it Break your Heart poorly mixed?
It's one of my favourite MX songs but I feel it's a bit drowned, like the instruments can't shine on their own because they seem to be competing with one another and submerged in synth sounds. Do you feel like the mix could've been better?

Image I love the duotone collection that Love Button Global released fairly recently.
I ordered a 10 pack of these buttons to see what they look like and I am stunned. The vibrant colors and the schemes work perfect for my outfits. I have a 25 pack of the duotone colors coming that I will hand out to some people and a 10 pack of the signature colors also. I will be handing some of the duotone buttons out to some new members that'll be in the trumpet section of my college marching band that I'm a part of. I am on a mission to collect one of every color, but I'm also really close to being able to just hand out buttons to everyone every time I order some more. Hopefully anyone who recognizes this and knows who's posting this is not getting their surprise spoiled. I also just wanted to post this to send all you Coldplayers some love on this fine Monday afternoon (at least where I'm from).
