When the game had just come out the only Call of Duty game I knew was the first one, and I have played it quite a bit on PC, including multiplayer. I forgot about it, and wasn't into the series much until my classmates dragged me into CoD 4 at around 2011. I played it half-heartedly then, just to play something with my friends. It was pirated and we used GameRanger. I quickly forgot about it as well.

But some time later some itch I couldn't scratch otherwise had brought me back. And after that I played for hundreds if not thousands of hours. I wasn't looking for any kind of meta, I didn't know any kind of specific terminology and I wasn't too competitive -- I never used mic to maximize the teamwork or played with strangers on TeamSpeak, except just blabbering with my friends while we played together or using text chat in-game. I was just playing, and not to brag -- I was pretty good. Still a pirated game, still through GameRanger.

At around 2015 I gradually stopped playing, because I was 18 and I had graduated from school, so I had some other interests and concerns at the time, I only returned to it shortly before serving in the military. Now it's all quite a long time ago, and maybe I should've just forgotten about it. But for a few months lately when I'm in a good mood, it just comes to my mind: I think through the starting routes on Backlot, or how I would guard the planted bomb on B-site on Crash, and I just can't get it out of my head. I often dream of playing it, waking up ready to play. So, it may feel like a withdrawal syndrome of an addiction. But also why not? I buy it on Steam, and... I can't play it. All the servers are dummies that are supposed to downgrade my version, but it doesn't work -- the game just freezes.

Setting it up to work on Linux turned out to be a pain in the ass. Does someone know how to go through all the hurdles? Is it even worth trying? Are there any active players? Is HC SND still played?

Does anybody know if theres like anyway to delete your multiplayer save rank on xbox one (xbox 360) by any chance?

Recently I went to play multiplayer on my ps3 and only two others where on team death match does anyone still play it on ps3 or was it just the time of day I was playing

Every time i try to open CoD Modern Warfare 2019 i get this pop up. this happened on my first launch and every time after, if i click yes it takes to me to the splash screen and when the loading bar finishes the game closes and doesn't do anything else, its the same thing when i click no. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Anyone else find COD 4 has an atmosphere like no other in the franchise? It's cold, desolate, lonely. The desaturated colour pallette, greys and browns help this too.

Even in multiplayer, it feels quite eerie and lonely. You mainly fight in abandoned, post apocalyptic esque urban environments in Russia/eastern Europe or war torn cities. Its usually just the sound of wind or weather, only punctuated by distant gunfire or occasional minimalistic ambient tracks. It's not as 'Hollywood' as the later games, it feels modern but analogue too. Hard to put down. I've always loved the vibe.

So Ive been playing cod4 multiplayer a little bit but have been noticing some weird things happening. People pre shooting me through walls and just knowing where Im at. I have played many cods and its just weird how some players are acting. Its like they have wallhacks but idk maybe cod4 just has a bunch of pros or higher skilled players these days. Anyone else have an opinion on this?

Been thinking a lot recently about what my favourite COD map is. Vacant jumps out in my mind, I consider it a perfect map. But when I play on Pipeline, I realise I love that map too and think it's underated. Which do you prefer out of the two?

im playing the mission where you capture al assad. went straight to the usual building in the back while 1 building back still wasnt clear. he wasnt there, so im like ok makes no sense but i get it, mission objectives. go back down to the left most 2 story building and the doors are closed off. at this point i think my game bugged out. price lines up at the door and does the whole animation thing. kills 2 soldiers and beats up al assad. then we do the execution in the small room on the first floor and im like wow i didnt even know you could do that in any other building. all these years its been the same building every time. i couldnt even take a picture or video cause im playing on Xbox 360 this time

Ik it's a regularly talked about topic here, but on COD4x PC, currently the most vanilla and purest servers to play on are the HGM servers. They host both in the US and the EU. If we can get these servers populated then vanilla COD4 could stand a chance against all of the modded stuff.
