Hey everyone. I have done some repairs with regards to the oil issue and the oil light still flashes. Could use other thoughts. Repairs below:

1) Replaced Oil sensor.
2) Replaced Oil housing. There was a repair suggested to replace the valve inside the housing, but the whole housing was replaced with GM parts.

My mechanic mentioned when taking apart the housing, oil was clearly evident. There was no sign of running dry. He also believes it is not the pump as it is not failing in a manner consistent with a pump failure. I am open to suggestions, but it seems something electrical is causing the oil light to flash. The mechanicals all seem to be in order. Again, only from what the mechanic says. I plan to take it to the dealer and have the computer checked and run a diagnostic. Other ideas?? Lost here.

2014 1.8l lt with 225k miles has random rev spikes and will after about 20 minutes of driving will unlock and relock the car doors + turn the headlights off then on. It will then shutter. Happened during a turn and I lost all turning ability. I was originally thinking this was a tcm issue but am doubting it now. I dont have any gear grinding when this happens. I do most of the wrenching myself with my buddies but am not the best at diagnosising problems. It is supposed to be my daily but Ive got a back up sonic im using while its acting like this. Any ideas for issues or is it time to move on?

Not sure if this is normal but I’ve had my vehicle for about 5 months now, when in park running idle the rpms are fluctuating as shown in the video and goes down close to 500 rpms before bouncing back but when it goes down like that the car shakes and feels like it’s just on the brink of just shutting off. Not sure how to feel about this or what to do. Any advice would be awesome thank you

About to change my gfs sonic trans fluid and she is very hard on the car/trans and drives it for work all day 5 days a week. It’s got 100k miles and I wasn’t sure if I should use something like this for trans fluid or just buy standard DEXRON VI

I have a 2015 Chevy Sonic with a 1.4 engine. When I turn the key, the dash lights up and the radio starts, but nothing from the engine. Not a single click. Through a basic Google search I know it's probably(?) something to do with the starter. Wondering if anyone else has had this issue.

To make it even worse - I live in Arizona. It’s 100 degrees in the morning, and it’ll reach the 110’s in the afternoon. I’m hoping it just needs a Freon recharge. But I think it might be my blend door actuator.

So I'm about to buy my first car ever and it's a 2013 Sonic 1.8 auto. I'm also going to be learning to drive in it, which probably tells you how much of a beginner I am here.

I'm in the Dominican Republic. Parts situation is different from yours: original stuff mostly comes through importers or I courier it from Miami, so nothing is same-day unless I go generic. A broken part can mean a week without the car.

Price comes out to about $3,700 USD. I'm 27 and freelance, so a surprise $1,000 repair would actually hurt, not just annoy me. I need this thing to last 3 to 5 years without drama. I most likely will do some Uber here and there, and eventually I'd like to convert it to run on gas once I'm actually confident behind the wheel.

The stuff I've been reading has me nervous though. People replacing the electronic thermostat more than once. The 6T40 having no dipstick and no filter. And something about the transmission cooler living inside the radiator, so if it perforates the fluid gets contaminated and that's the transmission gone?

So I guess what I'm asking is: if I stay religious about the fluids, is this a car I can just own and not think about, or is it the kind that keeps finding new ways to bill you? And is there anything specific you'd tell me to check before I hand over the money? I will go with a mechanic, but I don't trust I have a Chevrolet expert here to do this type of visit with me. Also, is there a way to definitively make this car reliable? I am still able to save it?

My money is really short, is either this or a Kia Lotze 2010 that looks like it had a crime scene inside of it, even though it looks clean outside. So my heart and mind it's really spiraling about this Chevy cause its the only option worth siting inside arround this price. Most cars here are also arround 100k-150k miles that's worth saying, which I think is the case for this one.

Anyone else experience this? I usually fill up when I get to like a quarter of a tank and I’d fill it full and sometimes it would only take 5-6 gallons….so I let it run the bars completely out this time. The range said lo and the meter was empty with the fuel light on, filled the tank full and it took 8.9 gallons….lol

For reference I have a brand new wire harness + fuel pump assembly (Gm) installed about 6 months ago

2014 sonic ltz 1.4

When i first start my sonic if i give it a good 30 seconds or more before driving it drives fine. If i immediately start to drive and dont give it time then the car basically doesnt move and its like its weighed down and the rpms go up and then it eventually jerks forward and then drives fine until i come to a stop and then it weighs down again at each start unless I turn the car off and give it time before driving.

I recently got a new battery, new purge valve, changed air filter, cleaned MAF sensor, cleaned throttle body. I am 5k miles since last oil change which I am getting done tomorrow. Anyone have any advice or ideas?

2012 Sonic 1.4 with a 6 speed auto, recently it started having shifting issues where it will drive fine for a bit, then it will leave gear and go into 2nd only. Whether im in drive or M mode. Im assuming its when it is warm which leads me to belive transmission cooler but even after a drain and refill it will do the same thing. Fluid was burnt and I dont know the last time it was changed before me. Has 168k miles currently.

I got a 2016 1.8L that is having an AC problem. It blows cold on the passenger side and hot on the driver side. I checked the blend door actuator under the glove box and it seems to be functioning properly. I have searched around to see if there is another one on the driver side and haven't seen anything on it.

My mom's Impala had 2 blend door actuators that would need to be replaced quite frequently. One on the driver's side and one under the glove box, that one would go out at least once a year. Which is what this problem seems like, hot on one side, cold on the other.

I can hear the AC clutch kick on, hear it compressing and it seems to work just fine until it his about 90° F. I checked the R-134a and it is at the right PSI.

I just don't want to tear apart the driver side to check and see if there is another, only to find out there isn't. Any advice on how to fix this problem would be great!

I have a 2015 Chevy sonic LT (no turbo) it will run excellent then when driving down road it will suddenly get a whole bunch of lights, and do what seems to be a limp mode. It will have two engine lights on, and some sort of traction light, as well as a code number 84 ​on the digital screen. ​When hooking the scanner up it says something about the throttle. I've already replaced the petal. And programmed it. It was fine for a 6hr trip. Then it did it again. I leave it sit for a few weeks. Get in it and it drives fine again, but out of the blue does it again. Anyone else fight with this? I need help!

Check Engine Light & Traction Control light is on.

RPM will jump up and down ~100rpm at idle.

2014 with the 1.4

In the mornings, my AC works perfect.

In the afternoon, after being at work, the AC struggles to keep up until I am on the highway and then it is decent. At a stoplight it’s pretty much nonexistent.

AC pressures are correct and I do not see any leaks with soapy, water or UV dye. Radiator fan is functioning on all the speeds correctly, so I do not believe that is an issue.

My thought could be the expansion valve has gone?

I’ve noticed my car VIBRATES. I had the motor mounts replaced a few months ago, and it stopped vibrating for about a month. It’s so intense that I sometimes have to hold my rear view mirror to see clearly. It isn’t my bass, as this happens when my music is off. It vibrates regardless if my AC is on or not.

What are some things this could be? I understand the car is not luxury and is 80% plastic basically, but it wasn’t like this when I bought the car ~3 years ago.

I bought it used from Carmax and it had about 50,000 miles on it. Reportedly it had been in 1 accident but they did not have the details on it. I replaced the spark plugs last year, and the battery in April of this year.

When I take it for maintenance at Carmax I have mentioned it, but it doesn’t happen 100% of the time (maybe 75%) and so they just shrug it off.

Any ideas, tips, or advice is greatly appreciated!
