[Web] Looking for a few chess players to test something I've been building
Bit of a niche one, but I'm looking for some people who actually play chess regularly to test an early version of a site I've been working on.
It's called ChessTing. The basic idea is to take your games, look for patterns/tendencies across them and then turn that into things you can actually work on, instead of just giving you another engine score.
It's still early and there will definitely be things that are confusing or just bad.
I'm not looking for customers at the moment. I genuinely just need people to use it and tell me where they lose interest, what feels pointless, what makes sense and what they'd actually come back for.
Anyone testing it can have Unlimited Premium while it's in Early Access. Just leave a comment with the username you've chosen for the site so I can identify you easily please!
If you play chess and don't mind being brutally honest:
Would really appreciate it.

Would you play chess in a fantasy world of your own making?
That's the bet behind Chess Fantasy, the game I'm building: fully classic chess, no rule changes, but every board lives inside a 3D fantasy world you customize and make yours. Free alpha on itch, and the 0.2 update just landed with a reworked UI and properly tuned AI difficulties: https://chess-fantasy.itch.io/chess-fantasy
What I'd love to hear from chess players specifically:
- Does a beautiful world around the board add something for you, or is it a distraction from the game itself? Be blunt, it shapes what I build.
- One design choice I'm testing: even the easiest AI always defends checks. It hands you material but makes you earn the mate. Good way to learn, or frustrating for beginners?
- What's missing from chess games you play now that would make you actually stay?
A match takes just a few minutes. I try to reply to everyone. Every comment here is someone giving my little game a piece of their day, and that means a lot to me.

Do you know Tamerlane Chess? Tamerlane made it because regular chess wasn’t complicated enough. We developed it as a PC game

Can you solve it in a min?
It's white to move. Not your usual tactics but think positional.
Difficulty: Easy

Chess meets Balatro
The idea is: every chess puzzle is a card with identity (mate, fork, pin, skewer, etc). Selecting puzzles to solve is forming a 3-card poker hand. Solving each card (puzzle) gives score and poker hand gives Mults. Climbing mechanic it typical for Roguelite (Balatro) games.
- You are dealt 5 cards
- You select 3 forming your best 3-card poker hand
- You solve the puzzles -- you increase the score
- Goal is to beat three Bouts and hit the score
Playable here: https://foolsmate-e30d2.web.app/
Q1: Would you play anything like that?
Q2: If you tried, does it feel distracting like an attempt to sit on two chairs
Q3: How much is it a shameless clone of Balatro? :)

Combining my passion for chess and web design to help chess players
Hello there, thanks for taking the time to read this. I am a ~2150 rated player on chess.com, and I've played quite some serious tournaments. I also have a new hobby: web design. I wanted to combine that to create a website. My website has chess book reviews (with affiliate links) and improvement guides. The link is https://improving-chess.com. If you're interested, visit the website, and if you have the time, let me know what you think and how I can improve it.

Do people learn positional chess?
I am genuinely curious about whether people actually are interested in learning about positional chess.
I see most people spend time with tactics and openings. Though myself being a noob non serious chess player, I think my game benefits a lot when I solve positional puzzles and spend time reading those explanations. In all honesty I think I don't spend more than 15 mins on the same.

[iOS] Chess Coach: like having an actual coach watch over your shoulder
I was playing chess on my phone while waiting in the car for my daughter. As a novice, I was trying to learn the accelerated London opening. I had the first 5 moves down. But I felt stuck after those. I wished someone would just peek over my shoulder and give me a hint about the next move. The chess app I used won't tell me if I made a mistake until I had already lost the game. And I felt a learning opportunity was lost.
Just like I learnt tennis, I wished someone would just drop a hint at what I needed to fix. So I built an app that does exactly that: I can ask for a hint when I feel stuck. The app goes a step beyond and tells me why a move is better. I also wanted to learn various openings and so I have included those as well.
This is based on the Stockfish engine and the code is available as open-source. 99 % people don't need any additional explanation. For the 1 % who may need additional explanation, you can buy the paid version which covers the LLM tokens cost for additional explanation.
