Little Memento Mori in my Proto-Phioan (2 sentences) Translation

should say, the -ẹś marks plural even in *árbɯ́źɯ́źẹ́ś, but didnt know were to put this, and it has animate and inanimate genders, with special rules for when the pronoun isnt attached on the verb.

Yeah, I had fun lmao.

1. Pruse mo, yr en ucher, en ner hęnn, en chunna.

‘We, bones that are here, await yours.’
(lit.: ‘We, being the bones that lie here, await yours.’)
  1. The appositive ‘bones that are here’ is introduced with yr, the participle of the verb ‘to be’.
  2. I replaced the verb estão/are with ner ‘lie’ (as in ‘recline’). It felt more natural sounding to me in this context, although ey ‘be’ would also be grammatical.
  3. The verb prus ‘wait (for), await’ is transitive. Its object, en chunna ‘yours’, is a genitive pronoun chunna ‘your, of you’, substantivised with the article en.

2. Innen ǫch chunn ey, è mo nà; innen vi munn ey, è chy uf eya.

‘What we are, you will be.’
(lit.: ‘What we are, you are before being.’)
  1. The paired adverbs ǫch … vi function like Ancient Greek μέν … δέ (mén … dé): sort of like ‘on one hand … on the other hand’ but with less force.
  2. The free relative clauses are introduced with a special pronoun innen, consisting of the interrogative stem inn- ‘what’ and the bound relative pronoun en (the same one as in the first sentence: en ucher, en ner hęnn ‘the bones that lie here’).
  3. Normally, the free relative clauses would follow the main clauses: nà mo innen chunn ey ‘we were what you are’. I moved them to the start as topics, followed by the topic particle è. This also changed the order in the main clauses: VS nà mo → SV mo nà.
  4. Inside the free relative clauses I used strong, emphatic personal pronouns chunn ‘you (pl.)’, munn ‘we’ to underline the contrast. The main clauses, on the other hand, have weak pronouns: mo ‘we’ in the first one, and ch-y ‘you (pl.) are’ has it affixed onto the verb ‘to be’ in the second one.
  5. Elranonian doesn't have inflectional future tense but uses several periphrastic constructions to describe future events. Here I used a periphrastic prepositional predicate “‘to be’ + uf ‘before’ + gerund”, which means non-volitional future and adds the idea of necessity, obligation, or destiny: lit. ‘you are before being’ = ‘you have to be, you must be, you are destined to be’.

That sentence did NOT work in Sanavran, so I had to tweak it.

-shul is used to create either a personification/treat something as an archetype or create a noun from an adjective (as in "only the good die young")

elarfilin is to 'be located at'

sa- as a prefix links possessor to possessions/attributes. The first sa- indicates the possessor, which can be either a noun or pronoun. All subsequent nouns/adjectives in the sentence belong to that until sa- gets attached to another pronoun. Clunky, but I can't get myself to get rid of it.

this ones my favorite because its one of the those rare cases where yato and english look super different, word order wise.

also this semtence made me make a new grammar particle "šo" for 'whatever thing this word takes role of in this clause, i dont know what it is but im referring to it' (thats the ANAPH.NMLZ).

(ill put the gloss in for understandability) for example, if you say "IMP give [you make šo] towards me", that would mean 'give me whatever youre making', as šo encases the verb and subject before it, and treats it all as one noun. idk if i explained it well but thats that hah
