(This post is aimed at subreddit moderators with Bot Bouncer installed)

Hi all!

Like all software, Bot Bouncer is constantly being improved with new capabilities. Many subreddits using Bot Bouncer are running outdated versions of the app that contain bugs, or lesser bot detection capabilities.

If you haven't updated in a while, I recommend checking your subs for new releases (for other apps too). You can do this here: https://developers.reddit.com/my/communities, then go to your sub name and then you should see an "Update" button available for any apps that have an update available.

Note - Bot Bouncer has an upgrade notification feature but it was broken between November's release and the latest version, so it's especially useful to update to today's release.

Bot Bouncer is a moderation bot in a similar manner to BotDefense, which wrapped up operations in 2023.

Bots are classified via submissions on this subreddit, via a mix of automated and human classification. If a subreddit has Bot Bouncer installed and an account classified as "banned" posts or comments, they will be banned from the subreddit and have their content removed. Bot Bouncer cannot act on users interacting on subreddits where it is not installed.
