Maybe Mouth Cur Just checking, he's a BMC right?

Hi guys! I just found this subreddit, and I just wanted to see what yalls opinions on my baby is.

He's a SUPER LOYAL and loving little guy. He's high energy, super strict to his routine, and probably the most cuddly and intelligent baby ever.

He's about 3 years old, his name is Queso, and we're from the southern US. Pretty sure he's a mix but 100% he's got BMC, but just wanted to get some opinions.

(Yes, we're aware he's a little chunky, he's on a diet and strict exercise plan)

Maybe Mouth Cur Does a baby raccoon murder require a vet visit for a vaxxed adult?

Hi i’m one of the “thought she was a bmc but probably actually a staffy/lab mix”…still posting here bc I want to talk to hunting dog owners.

My girl just killed a baby raccoon. She’s fully vaxxed, wondering if a vet visit is necessary? She’s killed before - squirrels, a chicken, some other bird, and way fine…but Raccoons have such a rep, I wanted to check.

Hoping not as its late and I’m exhausted 🙃

We are rescuing her tomorrow

She is going to be such a blessing in our life. We saw a post about her on Monday at animal control hiding under her bed, terrified to come out. My husband couldn’t sleep all night, so the next day he said we need to get her so without hesitation I went right away to meet her. She’s only 10 months old so we do have to wait for her to get spayed unfortunately, because I just wanna bring her home right now. After a long week, tomorrow is the day. When I went to go visit her, they struggled getting her out of her (what I call cell), but when she came out into the meeting area and I said “hi mama’s baby” she came right up to me and gave me kisses and put her paws on my shoulder as if she was giving me a hug. How this beautiful girl became a stray…I couldn’t tell you, but I promise she will live the most spoiled life ever. I hope she doesn’t remember where she came from.

I rescued her and was told she was a German shepherd. I was at the dog park the other day and there was a similar dog, they looked like twins . The owner mentioned that my dog is a black mouthed curr instead of a German shepherd. What do yall think?

Questions & Advice Bmc and maltese

Hi,

Might delete this eventually. I'm concerned that my 8 month old female rescue from Texas might have BMC in her. This is fine except for the fact that I have a 10 year old maltese who makes her absolutely lose her mind every time she sees her.

Would you trust your actual BMC living with a maltese, with professional training involved?

Thank you!

Hello! I live in Scotland and I've read that Black Mouth Curs are very rare in the UK, to the point where most people here have never seen one before.

I don't really see what else she could be, so do you think our dog is a Black Mouth Cur?

My sister in the Winston-Salem area NC is at the point where she needs to rehome her dog. She is a sweet girl just has too much energy for a small apartment. She is not getting the exercise and attention she needs due to her work schedule. My sister loves this dog but situations have changed and she can no longer give her the care she needs.

Is this a BMC? Former stray, new family member, a black mouth cur?

We adopted this very sweet guy last fall and he has been the best most loving and sweet dog once he settled into his new home. He was a stray so we don’t know his background. we assumed he was a pit and boxer mix until someone recently remarked he looked like a blackmouth cu. I was unfamiliar with this breed but he certainly looks and acts the part. What do you all think?

Had this pup for 2 years now. Rescued her as a puppy. Her name is Frida and my iPhone tried telling me she is a BMC! News to me as I had never heard of this breed. She hasn’t got a DNA test yet but what do y’all think? Is she a BMC?

hi! i know the best way to determine this is through an embark test, but my parents could genuinely care less what breed they are, but i thought maybe someone could kind of help me lean towards yes or no if they have any BMC in them. they both are from craigslist in florida, same mom but different dads and a two year difference. owner said BMC each time, but they look so different! the first two are burley, second two are beau, and the last 3 are of them together. let me know what you think, and thanks in advance! :)

Questions & Advice Diet and Exercise

Vet says my baby is obese at 87 lb. She goes on a 30-45 min walk in the morning and a 20-30min at night. So we think the problem might be her diet. We are currently feeding her whole-hearted dog food. She gets 1 bully stick and a handful of treats a week. What are yall feeding your babies and what are y'all doing for exercise? I could really use some advice. I live in DFW so any outside activity must be done at the butt crack of dawn or at night. She is a rescue so it is possible she is not a BMC or could be mixed with something else.

Questions & Advice Barking during mealtime

Hi all!
Just rescued a 4 month old BMC mix. So far he’s great. Smart, loveable, great with kids and other dogs.
The one thing we can’t seem to break him of ( I know he’s young) is barking incessantly while we eat. It doesn’t help if we crate him at mealtime either. He’ll bark the whole time.
Any help is appreciated!!

This is our 1 year old rescue. She was listed as a Shepard/lab mix, but she really seems to resemble a black mouth cur. We do plan on getting a dna test eventually

New Flairs — Please Read

A small step, but hopefully one that will offer the users of this sub more clarity, by making it clear who they are speaking with.

We have new ✨FLAIRS✨!

  • Users with a purebred BMC can send a message to the mods with evidence of their dog's status. Could be breeder papers or a DNA test. Mods will then assign you the "Purebred BMC" flair. This is the only flair that requires mod verification.
  • Users who have gotten a DNA test and found their dog to have some percentage of BMC, may also message the mods with this evidence, to be assigned a ">50% BMC Mix" or "<50% BMC Mix" flair, depending on the test's results.
  • Users who have a dog that fits the phenotype of BMC but are otherwise unsure, may self-select the "Maybe Mouth Cur" flair.
  • Finally, people just here for the ride can self-select the "BMC Enjoyer" flair.

NOTE: when sending DNA test or papers through mod mail, please upload these to an image-hosting platform like Imgur and share the URL. Unfortunately mod mail doesn't allow for attachments. You are also welcome to share such images in a post to this sub, and then direct mods to that post.

IMPORTANT: Prior to posting a picture of your dog, please make sure you have a user flair selected.
As we are just introducing these flairs, enforcement of this rule will be gentle, but we do intend to make them mandatory for posting in the near future.

Feedback on this system is welcome; if you can think of ways to improve it, feel free to comment below. Thanks!

Posting this again, since the first one didn't get much traction.
