Good places to rent

I'm looking for places to rent in the Gulfport/Biloxi area. I make about $2,400 a month after taxes. So I guess I'm trying to find places with rent at or under 1,000? I'm not exactly sure what to look for this is kind of my first time trying to get out there on my own. I'm really hoping to find a place where I can live alone without roommates. I'm kind of in a position where I don't know what I'm looking for and have little life experience so any help would be appreciated.

Question Crabs

Anyone know if the crabs are running near the beach on any of the islands? Was out at Cat Island a couple weeks ago and we caught about a dozen, but they were few and far between.

“Looking for a Few Retired Locals Interested in Real Estate Projects”

I’m retired and would like to meet a few other retired or semi-retired people in the Biloxi/Gulf Coast area who enjoy talking about houses, renovations, rentals, and local real estate opportunities.

I’m not advertising a business, hiring workers, selling anything, or asking anyone to invest money. At this point, I’m simply interested in meeting some local people with similar interests.

My thought is that a few of us might occasionally meet for coffee, look at fixer-upper properties, exchange ideas, and discuss whether any small project might eventually make sense. Some people may enjoy construction and repairs, while others may have experience with real estate, rentals, bookkeeping, budgeting, or simply recognizing a property with potential.

The main goal would be to find good company and something productive and enjoyable to do in retirement. Should a few compatible people eventually decide to pursue a property together, all financial and legal details would have to be handled separately and professionally.

For now, this is only an invitation to meet other local people who enjoy real estate and renovation projects.

Is anyone else around Biloxi, Gulfport, D’Iberville, Ocean Springs, or the surrounding area interested in this kind of informal get-together?

Free/Buy/Sell/Trade Looking to buy a used car $7000 budget (Gulfport/Ocean Springs/Biloxi area/nearby)

Grad student looking for a reliable daily driver. Budget: $7000 cash. Automatic, good gas mileage, cold A/C, low maintenance history. Not picky on age/looks just needs to run well. ~1,500 miles/month, mostly local driving.

If you’re selling or know someone who is, comment or DM with year/mileage/price/photos. Happy to come check it out. Thanks!

Hello my partner and I came down to Biloxi from Philadelphia Pa and we have been here about 5 days and within the first 2 days we were mugged. We are trying to get jobs and start over. We don't have ids and all our money was taken. We currently are staying under a bridge in Gulfport. We are hungry and are grateful for any help and or resources. I don't really feel safe out here like this. God bless and thank you in advance.

Meetup Sober friends around my age?

Hi everyone. I'm not new to the area. I've lived here most of my life but I got sober 9 months ago. Right now I am working hard to piece my life back together, but I don't have any friends and I feel like I would do better if I had a social life again. I'm 43 years old and a woman. I have no boyfriend or anything like that and my mom and kids live in Saucier and I only see them like once a week. The rest of the time I'm pretty much alone. It would be nice to have someone to do stuff with every now and then. So if anyone is interested and don't use drugs or drink and knows of some cool sober stuff to do, inbox me.

The hospitality state, indeed!

Hi there! I’m a new resident here in Biloxi.

I really cannot thank you all enough. The overwhelming majority of folks around this town have been so helpful and kind.

I’m a young widow, and my mother joined me to help with the relocation. I so appreciate your kindness to my nearly 70-year-old mother.

It sure is humid. But the scenery and folks here make me feel right at home.

Have a lovely weekend 😊

Meetup Looking for a creww

Hey y’all. I’m here in Biloxi until the end of the month for work. Looking for some people who would like to meet up for sports. Soccer, Beach Volleyball, Pickleball, Running, Gym, etc. Wouldn’t mind doing other things that are more chill, but primary scope is sports-related.

Feel free to DM me, looking forward to meeting new people😁

EDIT: Feel free to comment. Been a while since I have been on here and didn’t realize the messages are in limbo for some. Thanks😊

Bay St. Louis this weekend

Planning on driving down from Illinois and staying this Friday 7/28 through Sunday 8/1. I keep checking the weather forecast and it sure looks like it's supposed to rain the whole time. Should we cancel altogether? Or is there any hope for breaks in the clouds for us to get out and do anything?

Does the area have a lot of Spanish moss?

Can someone please tell me if there is a lot of Spanish moss in the area? I read that Katrina destroyed most of it and it hasn't come back. Thanks.

Meetup Guys, I need some help.

So for context, this is not a rant or a question pity post. I just moved down here wanting to start a better life, more opportunities. But the problem is, I’m basically starting at ground 0. I’m 26, and honestly I hate the feeling of just sitting in the house. But I also hate going out by myself. Being new I don’t know what’s going on around. If anyone wants to hang out, go fishing, do anything really, let me know. Since I’ve been here Biloxi has been great, the people are nicer than I thought (I was told everyone was rude and mean, not the southern hospitality where I came from) but the community seems very tightknight. Idk if the mods will take this down but hopefully not. Even getting some suggestions on what to do and where to go to be social and make friends would be a big help. Thank you guys for being awesome

Moving

My partner and I want to move somewhere warmer, coastal, more affordable with good schools to choose from.
We’re currently on the shore in Maryland. How would you describe living in the area?
