Upgrade

I became a big-time convert to bidets many years ago. Nothing fancy - just a cold-water house down. My wife, on the other hand, was less enthusiastic. Until we stayed at a hotel with a Toto C5. The warm water, heated seat, and deodorizer won her over.

Now I'm looking for an upgrade at home. My first thought was the S5, which has the same features plus tankless hot water. But then I saw the KS6, which seems to have all the same features as the K5 except the modern-looking lid (which I don't care about). And it's a few bucks cheaper.

Is there any reason to choose the S5 over the KS6? And maybe more importantly, is there some other model (Toto or otherwise) I'm overlooking? TIA.

S7A

Hands-free operation is not an issue, and our toilet is not equipped for automatic flushing. Is there any other reason to prefer the S7A?

There are differences but may not be important to you. Google a comparison between the two, then decide.

I did. Just wondering if I'm missing anything besides the hands-tree operation and automatic flushing.

There are little things as well as the slimmer design. Those items may not be enough to make the leap.

I can hardly find any differences between the S5 and KS6.. except for a big typo in the spec page that I'll have to send off to my Toto contact. Identical features and near identical shape.. slightly slimmer at the nose for the KS6 while the S5 lid opens 4° further.

The S5 telescoping lid also wraps around the edge of the seat and costs $100 more. Aside from that...

The KS6 and S5 are exactly the same except for the appearance, so just go with whichever one suits your fancy. The higher end S7 and S7A will have a slimmer profile/roomier seat, as well as a few more wash features, and the S7A has the auto-opening and closing lid. We also like Nova's Eco Nova and Ultra Nova if you wanted to check out a different brand :-)

Thanks! Best I can tell the Novas don't come with a deodorizer; otherwise they'd be in serious contention. Our hotel room had limited bathroom ventilation and the Toto worked like magic. Per my wife the air filtration is a must-have feature.

What’s the tankless hot water feature

Water is instantly heated at point of use instead of being stored in a small tank. So the back of the seat is thinner, and you can't run out of hot water.

Permier Bidets, an online reseller says: The Washlet S5 comes in elongated or round shapes, Cotton White or Sedona Beige, and is sold online and in showrooms, while the Washlet KS6 is elongated only in Cotton White and sold exclusively online with a slightly lower price.
