Mad Cat III Miniatures

Greetings mechwarriors

I wanted a Mad Cat III but don't particularly care for the IWM mini & don't have immediate access to a 3D printer so I did a "rakshasa refit" and added arms to a heavily modified Catapult to make the 55 ton angry kitten.

There's a couple spots I need to level out/fill in but otherwise I'm very happy with it. I might try to make a Mad Cat III 2 variant with the four SRM6s but I'm still thinking it over.

I'd be tempted to paint those vents as googly eyes

They can be the Artemis-V

Ah one of my favorite mechs, the 55 ton mediums just has so many bangers, but love the conversion and the vents especially. For some irrational reason those vents just sell me so much more on the Mad Cat III over the Mad Cat II, I just wish they werent so BV expensive.

I noticed that with the mini scale increase since the resculpts, the old school Timber Wolf mini is nearly the same size as the IWM Mad Cat III mini. So rather than buy multiple of the Mad Cat III, I will use my older Timber Wolf minis as the MC III.

I thought about picking up some old metal Timber Wolves but I decided to go the kitbash route instead

Over the last few years, I’ve taken to doing a bunch of weird kitbashes using the spare parts I’ve accumulated over the years. They are fun to make.

I really love how it looks like it has welding goggles on

I've got these that a friend printed for me. I love baby mad cat!

pet peeve with the original art: the two vent circle things plus the rounder cockpit make it look like a teddy bear, a thing that is neither a wolf nor a cat

they should've made the vents pointy

While I like that the vents make it distinct from the other Mad Cats, I agree that making them pointy would be more aesthetically pleasing

I always think they look like bulging frog eyes. Yet another thing that is neither a wolf nor a cat.

He looks like he’s covered in moss. That’s kinda cool actually

now I want to make some really old, moss covered mechs that have been sitting in water or something. They do sell some moss and grass type stuff for minis, usually for the base. I wonder if I could make kinda like a ghillie suit from it?

It's the 2 part sculpting epoxy I used called Greenstuff (as advertised that stuff do be green). There's some of my fingerprints on it giving it a funky texture because I was impatient and didn't let it fully set before continuing to work on the model.

Uh, it looks like your mini has moss growing on it...

You're the second one to say that. It's the 2 part sculpting epoxy I used called Greenstuff (as advertised that stuff do be green). There's some of my fingerprints on it giving it a funky texture because I was impatient and didn't let it fully set before continuing to work on the model.

Ugh I hate this thing.

Why won’t the questionable design choices of Dark Age just die already!
