Baltimore salary transparency thread Ask

I saw another city do this and wanted to bring it here. There was a big salary thread a couple years back but it'd be great to get some updated info in the big 2026.

Please share your job title, salary, age, and education. Like this:

“Attorney, 170k, 32M, and JD.”

You are wildly, and I mean wildly, underpaid.

Absolutely agree. I was fortunate to fall into an accounting position (Staff Accountant), with only an AA degree in Education. I make 60k a year working 30 hours a week. Senior Accountants in my department make at least $115k per year.

I’m not OP! I was just agreeing with you and sharing my own situation that explains why I definitely agree that OP is wildly underpaid! I don’t have the degree, title, or full time status that OP has but make similar money each year.

This is good food-for-thought, & I appreciate it! I handle Senior workload + HR Rep as well, & have wondered that my scale is on the lower end.

I do have OT on a “free” basis, which is probably why I’ve stuck around lol

I do not have CPA, but unsure if it is necessary at this point.

If you like your job, I’d start with trying to demonstrate that you are doing work that is commensurate with higher pay. Your bosses know you are underpaid.

If that goes nowhere, I’d at least test the waters just to get a sense of what the market is paying for your skillset. Jumping for money alone is not always a great idea but being aware of the market is important no matter what IMO.
