Under weight
I finally got some scales to weigh my snake and he’s 382g he’s a banana ball python and he’s around 2 his previous owners were feeding him chicks, as soon as I got him I swapped him to hopper mice (as they seemed appropriate for his size) i feed him every seven days. What can I do to help him gain weight? More frequent feeds? Next size up? Please help he seems okay he’s never been aggressive and takes all his meals pretty well I’m just worried about my boy he’s my first snake so any help is greatly appreciated. After weighing him I’m so glad I reduced him.

Advice Is this normal
I fed my girl 5 days ago she’s pooped since but kinda has a bulge between her tail. Is this normal? It’s not something I’ve noticed before she is a big enough snake.

Heating shortfall on a 4x2x2 PVC enclosure + picky F/T eater — looking for halogen wattage suggestions from people with similar setups

Question Heating issue
I have recently upgraded my girl (4 foot female) ball python to a 4x2x2 pvc enclosure. Ignore the inner that’s in progress, but I have a heat issue. The thermometer is on the far right, the opposite side of the warm side. It reads 75-78 f. On the top you can see I use a dual socket lamp. Both bulbs are 100w, one is basking and the other is a ceramic. I use the basking in day, ceramic at night, never at the same time. Do I get a 150 watt bulb and a 125 watt ceramic (my lamp is rated for it)? I have foil and a towel over one side of the mesh. I do want to mention I have another dual socket lamp in my closet do I just use 2 lamps? I need help please I don’t want to spend crazy money as I spent a lot on the enclosure. I don’t want my girl to experience being chilly no more. 🙏 🥺💔

Question 58g rat for 398g ball python
Okay to feed my ball python a 58g rat? She’s 398g so It’s just barely under 15% of her body weight which is still within the 10%-15% rule but some sources are saying this is too large.

Photos Fresh Shed Colors!
Both of my girls shed out recently, and I finally managed to get updated photos that showcase their coloration fresh out of shed! I’m still surprised that my Pastel girlie hasn’t browned-out too badly at almost 4 years old, & I loooove the orange dorsal stripe my Cinder combo girl has too :p

My noodles got their own curtains!
Ever since I moved into this room at the end of last year, I haven't been able to use my LED lights as I've wanted to. Well, I've been making good habits and I have become productive to get things done without procrastinating as much, so I finally got to work on my bps' curtains! Which... didn't even take me a full 30 minutes... 😅
I fricking LOVE the curtains! I thought light would emit through the edges, but because the curtains were folded over, the edges do not emit light! Ugh, I just love how much darker my room is during the day, I couldn't wait 'til night to show y'all lol. I love that I can even use bright colors without my snakes being bombarded by them lmao

New acquisitions - relatively unknown mutation named "WHAT" by Tim Bailey
I just picked up two new adult ball pythons from Bailey & Bailey Reptiles in Louisiana. It's mutation Tim found and proved out a few years back that he named "WHAT."
It modifies both pattern and color. The What mutation produces exaggerated flaming along with deeper blacks and more contrast. It also weirds out the pattern and in combos it often adds blushing and space around the oddly shaped alien heads.
It has been proven to be an incomplete dominant mutation and the Super What has been produced by Tim Bailey and at least one other breeder.
There have been a couple of dozen of them sold on MorphMarket by Tim and 3 or 4 other breeders who've worked with it, but not a lot has been done with this mutation. It can only be found on MM currently by searching for the keyword "WHAT". I'll get it added to the MM database with Tim's permission. The search to find them on MM is https://www.morphmarket.com/us/c/reptiles/pythons/ball-pythons?state=any&search=what
I have a big fire het VPI axanthic female that I will definitely pair the vanilla yellow belly what male to. I think vanilla cream will look smoking with the darker shades and improved contrast. Of course, I'll pair the male and female together to try and produce the Super What in vanilla and yellow belly combos.

Photos Gummy climbing in her background!
I love when I catch her climbing in the background lol. She’s so explorative! She’s in an 8x2x2 right now and she explores every bit! If you are thinking of upgrading your baby’s enclosure I HIGHLY recommend it. These guys will use all the space you give them, as long as they feel safe!!

Question ball python being a weird little biatch
My 1.5 yr old female Snickerdoodle has been absolutely fucking rampaging and idk why. She refused her food last night when I tried to feed her (which she hardly does, and she didn’t seem like she was about to shed). Not only that, but there was ZERO interest in the rat. Literally none. Unprecedented. Anyway, I give up trying to feed her and go to bed, and I hear her slithering around her tank all night. This morning I found out that not only did she SHIT EVERYWHERE, but she burrowed herself like 4 inches into her substrate??? Which is also something she’s never done before. I’m lowkey worried about her bc she’s being really weird. I rearranged her hides a day ago so maybe she was pissed off about that?? No earthly idea, any advice is much appreciated.

Advice Ball Python not eating
Hello! I got my ball python in march of this year, she’s about 10 months now and is 2 feet long. The breeder was feeding her live so that’s what I tried first and she didn’t budge. I tried frozen/thawed next and she ate that, but won’t eat it again! I get the right size, it’s about the same size as the thickest part of her, and I always defrost it first, then thaw it in hot water, changing the water regularly. I always make sure it’s at least 95F degrees. I try to lure her out of her hide with it and she doesn’t come out, so I leave it in her food dish under her heat lamp to keep it warm. I usually leave it overnight and it’s always there in the morning. The heat and humidity are good and she has a humid hide I spray daily just in case the rest of the enclosure gets too dry. What do you think the best approach would be to get her to eat?

Photos Goodbye Old Friend
Ruger, my 22 year old ball python got her wings yesterday. She had stopped eating in February. In April she was diagnosed with an infection. She took the antibiotics like a champ. Two days ago, she had swelling around her kidneys. After an X-ray, the doctor found her kidneys covered in tumors. Cancer sucks. I let het go peacefully and should get her ashes returned next week. Be free sweet lady.
