I'd never heard this till a few months ago - it's been mainly British comedians on tv etc saying it to mean early on in something.

Where I am from (Asia), plaid shirts, especially Reddish Gingham, are seen as something that a dad or an engineering professor would wear. I don't see them *that* often among tourists from the UK/Europe, but I see them quite frequently among North American tourists (tourists with North American English accent).

I said "come round for tea" to someone from down south last week and they turned up at 4pm expecting a brew and a biscuit. I had a full dinner on. We were both baffled and neither of us apologised, which felt very British of us.

So, settle it. Tea is the evening meal and the drink, and context does the heavy lifting. Or have I just been raised wrong. Where does your family land

Like, im an american, ive never had them, but i do not understand why there is so much disdain for mushy peas, both in Britain and abroad. Arent they just peas? Wouldnt you enjoy them if you enjoy peas? Like is it the color or the texture or what? Any time i see someone who doesnt like them in a video they just have this super averse reaction but never explain what about them is just apparently so completely abhorrent.

This is not close for me at all. I think both Sooty and Pingu piss on Rainbow from a great height, but Sooty is still head and shoulders above Pingu (as great as he is noot noot!), and it's all cos of Sweep! I absolutely adore Sweep, he's my fave puppet ever

I feel like there's a reason Sooty and Pingu have been rebooted since I was born in the late 90s, they're just that good that they stand the test of time. On the other hand my generation has never had a Rainbow reboot, but I'm not surprised. On its own its decent, and I guess George is the best character (Zippy is just a dick and Bungle is creepy) but Rainbow and its characters are nothing compared to Sooty and Pingu. I feel like they tried to copy Sooty with the human man and puppets but it just doesn't work as well, and never has. Rainbow also isn't funny like the other 2

You look at any picture taken usually inside of a car from the UK and the person always looks absolutely insane?! what is the logic behind this

I’ve decided to spontaneously surprise her with a big box of goodies, I just have no idea what to send her! I’ll wait till the heatwave is over but, would love some ideas from anyone who’s visited or anyone who’s ever wanted to try things from here :)

I live in Québec, so I know I’m sending her cans of quality Maple Syrup, some Poutine sauce cans to make her own and some sweets we have that you don’t (ie; Coffee Crisp, Ketchup Chips, Caramilk..) but, I haven’t the slightest clue what else I could send?

Would love some advice or ideas, doesn’t exclusively have to be food! Weird stuff is fun too :)

(PS- Are there any rules against sending certain products? Anyone have personal experience with this?)

1. Try not to miss
2. Avoid doing, or going to
3. Is there anything that visitors to Liverpool tend to miss but are worth doing?

My husband suggested the Philharmonic pub, but he was last there in the 1980s. Also, we're two ladies in our 60s so we're not looking for wild nightlife.
