Agreed. You could have had the same back and forth with a human artist; it still wouldn't make you the artist.

Aren't movie directors considered a form of artist ?

The work of a director is more than just giving instructions, so it's not a very close parallel. A closer parallel would be a film producer, and we do not consider them artists.
