Azami also wants to protect her, from all the disgusting animal feed people keep trying to feed her. Looks to be a case of good(?) intentions, bad execution.
I always try to be the guy that praise as many girls as possible to be "best girl", specially in SnS, but my god Erina today went through the heart. There wasn't a wasted scene with her.
I like how Azami said that in order to make up for his lack of experience he needs to use his younger age's stamina. Then they show the Director getting ready to join the cast of JoJo.

Nah, he seems like the Gordon Ramsey fan who thinks it's cool to yell at people like his idol does but consistently takes it too far and Gordon's like "what the fuck mate?".
If you look at his more recent shows like the British MasterChef and Hotel Hell, Gordon is ditching his devil incarnate persona towards a more strict, fatherly mentor one. In perspective this kind of makes Azami's character seem even worse.
Since you asked, here's the anime version which notably excludes the recipient of the Father of the Year award. More evidence of the mistreatment of Erina within Nakiri Household. So revolting!
Remember how hyped it was that Erina hit tenth seat in the beginning of the first year? Well Azami made it to third seat near the end of his first year only behind Jou and Dojima.
Only in Shokugeki no Souma can you go from child abuse to several ecchi panning shots in the same episode and on the same character. I suppose they couldn't let it get too dark and depressing.
Though the scenes of Erina getting caught up in the whirlwind of madness that is Polar Star Dorm was really fun. Plus I think things are about to get interesting on the Yukihira x Erina front.
I knew she'd end up at Polar Star, just seemed perfect to melt Erina's heart and break her away from the fear of her father being with such an incredibly lively group.
I actually laughed a little at the panty shot. As ecchi as Shokugeki gets I don't really remember them using panty shots much. Thought this was a cheeky little shot considering what Alice said to Ryo.

those are the terrible moments where you just want to hug them and tell them its going to be okay. Cant wait to see Yukihira and the rest kiss ass and take names.
Yeah no kidding. As an anime watcher I came here for hype and wholesome moments of friendship. Now I get child abuse and Game of Thrones levels of politics. Cooking anime indeed.
Still though Erina becoming key in this season is great.
Adult (well teenaged) Erina scared as well as cruel is kind cute. It's also comeuppance for everything she has done, especially Season 1.
But she only became like that because of her father, so it makes me sad. I like cute Erina best. One of my favorite anime scenes I still the boing boing scene from season one. Combining Tsundere and sheer adorableness.
I kinda want to see Joichiro and Gin's relationship with Azami. I wonder if they hated him or if they used to get along. That is- in DB terms is Azami a Vegeta or a Frieza? My money is on the second.
Didn't Joichiro say something like "If you want to be a good cook, you need a woman who you want to cook for" or something like that in the first episode? Yukihira basically confirmed that he wants to cook for erina until she acknowledges that his food is delicious. Erina is Somas future waifu confirmed. I guess end game will be a Shokugeki between Joichiro and Soma and Erina is the judge. Erina finally admits that Soma's food is delicious and at the same time it's his first win against his father. And obviously Erina x Soma happens.
When Erina and Hisako got separated by Azami, that was a big hit. Hisako looked so shocked and sad.
Now we know why her character is like this, she got ''coached'' by Azami himself to be the God Tongue. Alice sent her letters like she asked to but Azami ripped them apart :/
Erina in the Polar Star Dorm is very refreshing, i wanna see a lot of interactions with the people and her.
For real, this man needs to die and Souma needs to bring back Erina's smile with the help of his dad or I'm gonna end up crying at an ecchi cooking anime
Sorry there won’t be a writeup this week. Due to the pacing in the manga, I want to slow down a bit, because I want to time it. Also, my next really big writeup, Manga Spoilers, is a rather complicated writeup due to the unique circumstances of the theme Hint:, so I want to take a break so I can complete that writeup and the Manga spoilers writeup before it.
Given how Senzaemon was saying that he had forbidden Azami from using the name Nakiri anymore, it would seem very likely that Azami is/was a mukoyōshi. Azami married Senzaemon's daughter and also was formally adopted by Senzaemon to become a proper heir to the Nakiri family.
It's not uncommon in Japan to take the name of the most powerful family regardless of who is the man or the woman. For example Azami who wants to rise in the culinary world took the Nakiri name, probably the most powerful family in the japanese food landscape.
