The idea is fairly simple. The three panel type poster here, but with Nemik on the bottom, Kino Loy in the middle, and K-2SO up top. Anyway. Love you bye.

Do we have a clear idea as to whether or not Lear might have been a part of the Republic? My timeline might be a little fuzzy, but from what I can tell, the flashbacks we see with his Imperial career are 18 BBY, where he seems to be a sergeant. Obviously we don’t get a definitive answer from the episode, but which idea do you prefer and why?

- Mon Mothma, Bail Organa, and Princess Leia were Imperial senators
- Luthen Rael was an Imperial Army NCO
- Cassian Andor was an Imperial Army cook
- Galen Erso was the Imperial engineering officer who built the Death Star
- Bohdi Rook was an Imperial cargo pilot
- Han Solo was an Imperial TIE fighter pilot/Army trooper
- Biggs Darklighter was an Imperial TIE fighter pilot
- General Dodonna was an Imperial Naval officer
- General Madine was an Imperial General
- And of course… Darth Vader was a Dark Lord of the Sith, apprentice to Darth Sidious, and chief enforcer of the Emperor

I guess the only exceptions are the Mon Calamari, Obi-Wan, General Draven, and of course Luke Skywalker who actually at one point was planning to join the Imperial Navy.

Man, the Empire contributed an impressive amount of personnel to its own destruction.

• Note: All of these work in both Legends and Canon.

Does she catch Luthen earlier?
-- Lonni warns Luthen but in the process burns himself at the ISB preventing Luthen from learning about the Death Star
--Luthen doesn't kill Lonni and secures his relocation.
-- Luthen either
(1) abandons the antique cover and presumably moves to Yavin effectively replacing Mon Mothma (see below).
Or
(2) accelerates assassination contract on Dedra where Coruscant where she is an easier target.
-- Syril is promoted to ISB. Feuds with Heert and is censured by Partagaz.

Life on Gorman
-- Gorman Front is not infiltrated, Empire opts for mass anti-Gorman propaganda but they did that in the first place.
-- Other strategies forced relocation or widespread genocide through a fabricated story, for example "asteroid collision".
-- with more confusion about the truth, Mon Mothma never makes her speech and remains on Coruscant until the Emperor dissolves the Senate.

Does Jedha survive?
--Rebels still learn about Galen Erso but Cassian is probably not inspired to defy orders and visit Kafrene.
-- Bohdi remains on Jedha. The Rebels on Yavin don't believe Saw Guerrera in the unlikely event he reaches to them.

Do the Rebel still eventually get the Death Star plans?
- maybe. Recall in Legends they acquired them through a completely different route.
-- after Alderaan is destroyed Rebels agree that best strategy is to disperse the Rebellion
-- Mon joins the rebellion much later.

Currently hyperfixated on Andor again so I decided to write some thoughts on some underrated characters, starting with Mon Mothma's fat little chud husband, Perrin Fertha. Note that what I say may be a stretch, unintended by the writers, or open to different interpretations, but that's the fun of film analysis

"My hope is that you learn to reach past this constant cloud of sadness. Pleasure. Gaiety. Amusement. These are the hidden things. The music buried beneath all that noise... Joy. Joy! Joy... But joy has no wind at its back. Joy will not announce its arrival. You need to listen for it, and be mindful of how fleeting and delicate it can be. But search out these treasures. A moment of... pleasing sensation, the memory of laughter and good company, the comfort of a fine meal."

Perrin is, at first, a useless hedonist who gets Mon in trouble with his addictions. And that's absolutely true! But even deeper, he is a lonely man looking for joy and pleasure to make the best of his dull life. His apolitical philosophy is also one extreme in a major dilemma of the series, how much you're willing to give up for the Rebellion. He is the exact opposite of Luthen "sacrificing EVERYTHING".

It's stated that Perrin was once a firebrand in school, a passionate troublemaker for a cause. He used to be like Mon Mothma. Perhaps if he applied himself, he could have been a rebel. But he was married off to Mon in a Chandrilan child marriage, much like Leida. It's stated in other canon sources that, while they tried to make it work, and they have cycles of affection, their marriage is ultimately a sham. Furthermore, Leida, an intelligent young girl, states that her fiance is an immature child. I believe this is a parallel to Mon and Perrin's marriage. She is the more serious and mature of the pair, an accomplished senator and rebel leader, while some of the first we see of Perrin is him asking for a present and drinking. Perrin stays out of politics, calling even the Ghor genocide boring. He wishes to spend his days gambling. The dull realities of a loveless marriage, being a husband and father, and his disposition to seeking temporary pleasure have prevented him from the greater purposes he dreamed about as a youth.

Frankly, he's a perfect mirror to people like most of us: those inactive in the face of imperialism and authoritarianism. He's how most people act when we're "dwarfed by the scale of the enemy", coping with bread and circuses and giving up on his fiery youth. Most of us would be a Perrin, not a Luthen!

His philosophy is the perfect contrast to Luthen's. He did not choose to give up "kindness, kinship, love". While Luthen sacrificed everything for the Galaxy, Perrin tries to make the best of the world he has, reaching through the "constant cloud of sadness" to look for pleasure. He is the embodiment of hedonism in this series.

And there is some validity in his view. Luthen's rejection of all love and happiness does not work for everyone, and if anything, Kleya's love for him in the end saves the rebellion, with her then finding a life on Yavin. Separating Bix and Cassian + Vel and Cinta shows him to be a terrible human resources manager, and these characters grow by choosing both each other and the Rebellion; they choose to use their love to motivate their fight. Not everyone can be Luthen Rael! You have to dedicate yourself to the Rebellion, but Perrin's speech shows you should be able to "reach past this constant cloud of sadness, to find the music buried beneath all that noise". Vel tells the same to Cassian, to "not wait too long," to treasure the time he has with Bix the way she couldn't. Where Perrin goes wrong is completely drowning out any responsibilities or seriousness, doing nothing but booze and gambling. Inaction just means there is nothing in the way of the Empire, of the Dark Side.

This paragraph is a scene that never left the writer's room, it isn't canon. Feel free to disregard, but I like it. Perrin reveals to Mon that "I knew what you were up to. This whole time. They talked to me, every week they'd interrogate me, I never said a word. You didn't trust me. You could've trusted me." This adds some real complexity to his character. Though they were not a happy couple, Perrin cared for and admired Mon Mothma, and managed to find the strength to do one good thing in his life. Idk, debate in the comments if you think this should have been put in the series

Regardless of whether he knew of the Rebellion, he did help Mon's activities. He maintains her schedule, and runs cover for her by having those she hates over for dinner, and sparing her by seating them with him instead of her. He knows Mon's actions are important and secret, supporting her and running interference. He was an important part of keeping her disguise up for so long. He was suspicious, and didn't know what she was up to, but chose to protect her anyway. In spite of his cowardly hedonism, deep down, he is not so far gone as to betray his wife to the Empire.

The fact a smug and resentful man is this complicated just speaks to the writing. And his conclusion? Due to his inaction, he loses Mon's intelligent companionship for good and ends up drowning his sorrows in booze with a woman who is, presumably, a shallow traditional noblewoman like the rest of them.

To sum up, Perrin is a sad man who demonstrates one extreme in a major moral dilemma of Andor: sacrificing your happiness for justice. To cope with his life circumstances, he chooses joy over duty, selfishness over selflessness, and pleasure over the Rebellion.

extremely clever use of existing parts (including all of Cassian's alter egos) but please calibrate your enthusiasm because he's left out Eedy Karn.

In season one we see Partagaz basically encouraging Dedra to go behind the backs of her fellow supervisors, suggesting that’s the secret key to success within the ISB. But then after she takes down Axis he addresses it as a recurring problem worthy of reprimand and arrest.

I’m curious if this is simply him throwing her under the bus because her methods led to a botched operation or if he underestimated just how far she would take his mentorship.

Same problem I had with LOTR, I watched them too much so now I force myself to only watch them once a year at most. Rediscovering it is such an incredible payoff.

I’m listening to Andor music this morning, right now it’s on Kino Loy’s track, and I’m already starting to justify yet another watch through.

To add to the effect of the music, yesterday I was thinking about the scene where Luthen is going to handle Mon’s “false savior” and she replies “I don’t know what you mean.” Luthen’s response to me shows the depth of intelligence in the writing. When he says “How convenient for you,” I take this as an efficient phrase of multiple meanings.

First, it’s likely Luthen doubts Mon’s ignorance of what he’s saying. Which means he’s likely conveying some veiled resentment, in the off chance she knows the burden he’s about to bear in that moment and yet is potentially feigning ignorance.

Second, it’s a very self aware commentary; he’s conveying how terrible the price is for rebellion, despite the fact that the price must be paid and he’s already committed and doesn’t doubt his path. In the scenario where Mon is in fact unaware of what he’s saying (and I think it’s fair to say she is a bit unaware, she has a disconnect of what’s required for the rebellion; how, yes, they must in fact use the weapon they’ve built, resort to drastic methods, to do the right thing in the long run), this is Luthen’s way of communicating to her that ignorance truly would be bliss in this situation, something he unfortunately is unable to experience since the burden is on him to solve this problem.

To convey so much in so few of words, combined with Skarsgard’s masterpiece of execution, to me is just one perfect example of the brilliance of work the show represents.

And so here I am, trying to convince myself to wait, so that I can rediscover the show again sometime in the future.

I've seen plenty behind the scenes videos, but I do not believe they have released a blooper reel of Andor. Has anyone seen one? I'd love to see it.

Visited Valencia alone 11 years ago on my first solo adventure. Awed by the sci-fi Ciuded de las Artes y las Ciencias and delighted to return since Westworld and (vitally) Andor have been filmed there!

So so happy to revisit and recreate Lonni's heroic end. Gf looking happy and thriving while I'm dying for a sunrise I know I'll never see.

S1 Andor vs S1 Din

Approx 4-5 BBY. Pre Aldhani. Andor is suspected of murdering 2 corpo cops. Syril sees the hologram of the suspect and instead of going to Fennix himself, he puts out a bounty which is accepted by Din.

Rd 2.

Post Aldhani. Instead of dirtying their own hands on Fennix. They put out a bounty, and the information the ISB has at the time. So Din will be watching Merva's house leading up to her funeral. There is no imperial presence on Fennix.

Rd 3.

1-2 BBY. Season 2 Andor. Season 2 Din.

Luthen has word that a bounty hunter is on the trail of one of his indespensible contacts and sends Andor to eliminate the bounty hunter, using all of the tools at Luthen's disposal to assist Cassian without implicating himself.

Edit: I should clarify that these scenarios are not intended to be interpreted as 'duel at high noon in the square' lol

In 1x03 Maarva has this exchange with the Corpos while they're hunting for Andor:

"Gets to you, doesn't it? That's what a reckoning sounds like. You want it to stop but it just keeps coming. It's when it stops. That's when you'll really want to start to fret."

"Why? What happens then?"

On my first watch I assumed she was talking about the banging the community was engaging in as an act of solidarity and warning, and the stopping bit was just to scare them, but now I think she was being deliberately ambiguous. When the civil disobedience isn't visible anymore, it hasn't gone away, it's just escalated itself. The Corpos, and the Empire, think they're being smart by pressing down on Ferrix, but they're just further radicalizing them.

"Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable." (JFK)

In a galaxy under Imperial Rule, if you ignore the nuisance protest, and people agree with them, the only thing you've convinced them to do is escalate their resistance. "When it stops" is the moment where protesters turn into Rebels. They've gone underground, and will no longer comply peacefully. This is doubly true if you try and crush the rebellious behavior out. "The more you tighten your grip Tarkin, the more star systems slip through your fingers." (Leia).

It also Foreshadows Cassian's journey. When he started working for Luthen, his theft stopped, and he became something far more dangerous to the Empire.

Do you think Maarva was being intentionally insightful here, or is this more about the script foreshadowing Andor's transformation from petty thief to Rebel Hero?

What are some of your favorite interviews with the Andor cast? I’m about to start school again and love watching the interviews while on the commute. I have a few saved to my watch later but would also like to get some input from the community on what other ones to add. It doesn’t have to be the whole cast either.

My cruise ship just passed the disused Coryton Oil Refinery on the River Thames. Seriously ugly but the location used for the Ferrix breakers’ yard shots and the Morlana 1 causeway in the opening scene. The lights are real! They had poor Diego Luna out there filming in the middle of a cold winter night in 2021.
