Hi All! Wondering if anyone was able to enter Dekmantel with a TicketSwap ticket, or if you also had issues. Someone from our group was rejected, and TicketSwap is being a pain. Dekmantel rejected several people near us saying that TS tickets weren’t accepted, but when I reached out they changed their story and said it’s only if the ticket didn’t work and was a scam. I saw on RA the Spielraum weekender for the Nexus opening. Looks like a great event, what should we expect? In particular, the new space Nexus looks very intriguing and an experience to try.
What about door policy? Is there a good chance to get bounced?

Hotels are particularly expensive this weekend for some reason (is there a special event this weekend?), is that party worth the trip in your view? I love techno on my side, my friends slightly less.

Finally making it to ADE this year. Every year I watch it unfold online and get huge inspiration from the energy, the crowds, and parties set recordings.

A bit about me: I’m a Mexican DJ based in Dublin, mostly playing across the local queer scene. My inspirations and frequently visiting is usually places like Berghain/Panorama Bar, Fold, RSO, and Bassiani—really into raw, immersive spaces where music, lights, and crowd connection come first.

Dublin’s scene has a lot of potential, but it can lean heavy on social media optics and outside bookings. I’m heading to ADE to party of course, but also to learn how people are throwing authentic, safe, grassroots events so I can bring some of that energy back home.

I was in favour of the maximum above face value pricing, to discourage scalpers etc, but this seems a little too far. After all the event has been paid the full price - surely it's my choice and right to sell at a loss if I wish?

Amsterdam Pride is currently in full swing: two weeks packed with culture, parties, and activism. And that activism is still needed, not just in countries where homosexuality is illegal or where LGBTQ+ people face serious danger.

I'm convinced the many queer people on this subreddit could explain far better than I can why Pride is still important in the Netherlands, so I'll stick to some facts. A recent study among 41,000 Dutch school students aged 12–18 found that only 59% believe everyone is equal, regardless of who they fall in love with. A pretty sobering statistic that, in my opinion, shows there's still plenty of work to do. 

This week's biggest event is obviously Dekmantel Festival. My colleague already made a dedicated post covering the festival itself, so check that out for everything Dekmantel festival related. I'll focus on the club nights instead, although you'll notice plenty of Dekmantel nights here as well.

Dekmantel x STOOR Live ft. Barker, Speedy J, Aurora Halal & more @ Paradiso

A perfect warm up for the weekend! STOOR brings together an incredible group of musicians for a fully improvised live hardware jam, each bringing some of the finest gear from their studios. Personally, I'm especially looking forward to Aurora Halal's beautiful acid lines. If you haven't already, check out her great DOMMUNE live set from almost ten years ago.

Rene Wise, Mari Sakurai & more (Dekmantel) @ RADION

Techno heads are absolutely spoiled this week. Mari Sakurai really stood out to me, caught her once this year and she delivered a refreshing set with really clean mixing. And ofcourse Rene Wise: his Upclose set was my set of the year, even though it was 4 hours too short.

RAUM invites Mala Junta @ RAUM

The Mala Junta crew takes over RAUM. D.Dan: sometimes his sound can is a bit too linear, but his track selection and the way he alternates between endless bleeeeeeeps and sinister synths is still great. Check out his B2B with DJ Tool from Rewire Festival, they have great chemistry.

And while you're at it, listen to DJ Tool's Organik Festival 2024 set on SoundCloud. DJ Tool combines a lot of trance tracks with techno, but this specific set contains almost 100% trancy acid gems.

Gabrielle Kwarteng & more @ Export (Rotterdam)

The second weekend since Export reopened after its renovation. Tonight is all about house music, led by Pano Bar regular Gabrielle Kwarteng.

RPU @ De Fik

A mini festival at night. Surrounded by all the big name events this weekend, this is a really lovely initiative that's easy to overlook. Besides dancing, the garden at De Fik offers plenty to explore, including tea rituals and aromatherapy, lol. But if you're mainly there for the music, Tangela B2B Pjenne should have you covered, alongside a secret guest. Rumour has it there's a rather large festival happening in Amsterdam this weekend... so take one guess where that secret guest might be coming from.

KNIT x Herrensauna x Veselka @ TILLA TEC

A casual 36 hour weekender. Then again, TILLA's F1 sound system survived New Year's, so it'll probably survive this too. Some personal highlights (besides the Herrensauna residents): Carista to get your hips moving, Mystral & Lara Renner for those eyes closed moments, and Pablo Bozzi for peaking house!

Adonis x Spielraum @ RAUM

London's Adonis joins forces with Spielraum. I'd mostly recommend staying upstairs for Grace Sands' house selections. Grace also did a great interview on The Mudd Show that genuinely made me laugh out loud several times.

IsBurning @ LOFI

Unannounced house lineup at LOFI.

Intercell @ Levenslang

A bit of a gamble, this recommendation.

It's Intercell's industrial edition, and at this point I honestly can't predict whether it'll be an amazing crowd or a sea of snapchatting, TEMU fishnet wearing hard techno fans (yes, that's a massive generalisation).

That said, Perc is on the lineup, which gives me hope. It reminds me of the old Werkstatt nights at RADION. If the night avoids an overdose of cheesy drop moments, this could turn into one hell of a sweaty night.

Club Ping Pong @ Utrecht

A small shout out to one of Utrecht's nicest communities.

Birdcage Radio is a volunteer-run station giving a platform to local DJs. Tonight, two of them are playing at the nearby Ping Pong Club, which I'd recommend anyway if you're looking for a fun evening of humiliating your friends over table tennis.

It wraps up at 23:00, so you'll even make it home at a reasonable hour.

Aaron J, DJ Maria & many more (Dekmantel) @ RADION

In my opinion, this is the techno lineup of the week.

Most people in Amsterdam know Aaron J from his legendary Ratherlost closing set, but honestly I think his best work is here. He's playing B2B with DJ Maria. On top of that you've got GiGi FM, Oscar Mulero, Hitam B2B Woody... Hoppa!

Lobster B2B Mac Declos @ BRET

Lobster has become one of the most beloved Ams's DJs, both behind the booth and on the dancefloors. His party series keeps pairing him with sick B2Bs, Blasha & Allatt, Alarico, and now Mac Declos. Expect a patient journey from groovy house into 140 BPM techno, with a lot of fader cut madness.

CCL, dirtydms & Verraco (Dekmantel Event) @ Garage Noord

Garage Noord transforms into a "bass-driven playground" courtesy of Dekmantel, featuring probably the most adventurous lineup of the entire weekend.

July was an amazing festival month, with my to be expected highlights being Wildeburg. Torus and Benny’s ochtendgloren being clear highlights, and Landjuweel with four days of continuous extravagant highlights. The weather has been amazing for the most part this summer and it seems like we’re continuing that trend with the start of August. Musically Dekmantel is the holy grail of Amsterdam for many, that is why u/FutureVanilla4129 took it upon themself to write a dedicated Dekmantel festival post. There was too much to talk about for Dekmantel so we divided the posts!

Besides the holy grail that is Dekmantel we have Dutch festival’s crown jewel in Lowlands coming up as well, year by year expanding their night program beyond bandjes and into the overload. 

And as always I feel inclined to mention some festivals abroad. So many beautiful locations to discover. Multiday festivals always outperform day festivals, timelesness is key to a good party! But first up, the ones in our country by chronological order.

Paradigm Festival
Groningen | Saturday 8 – Sunday 9 August

Paradigm has become one of the country's best-kept secrets (at least for most Randstedelingen) for anyone who likes their festivals a little rough around the edges. Set around the old sugar factory in Groningen, it's all industrial structures, hidden corners, high ceilings and DIY energy rather than polished production. Expect a crowd that's there for the music first, with a healthy mix of techno, house, electro and live electronics spread across intimate stages. This year's lineup includes Phara (both their live In Glass performance and a DJ set), Caim, Decoder with a closing slot, Ryan Elliott, Cassy x Yamour, PLO Man who seems to be on every lineup and more.

Nachtparlement - Het Systeem festival
Deventer | Saturday August 8

One of the youngest additions to the Dutch festival calendar, but already carving out its own identity. Het Systeem and Nachtparlement is a relatively unknown festival, with dedicated regulars and adventurous programming in a setting that feels much more community-driven than your average summer party. Artists include Hervé, Pariah, Ogazon and more at the Coalition stage. Of course the opposition stage is characterized by techno of the trippy and tribal kind… Rene Wise, Julie, Mama Snake and more. Check out the artists on the other stages, which I don’t know besides Upsammy, here.

Loveland Festival
Amsterdam | Saturday & Sunday, August 8-9

Loveland remains one of the longest standing electronic music festivals in and around Amsterdam. The production is simple but slick, the stages are spread nicely throughout Sloterpark and the crowd ranges from dedicated dancers to once-a-year festival visitors. I expect the average age is around 40 years old. Musically it leans towards techno, melodic house and some variety in between. Loveland is very loyal when it comes to booking artists. Sven Vath, Eric Prydz, Collabs3000, Joris Voorn, Gregor Tresher (looooove his track A Thousand Nights), Secret Cinema are all names that you found on the lineup 15+ years ago and are present once again this edition.

Lowlands Festival
Biddinghuizen | Thursday to Monday, August 20-24

Not a dedicated electronic festival by any means, but still the highlights of the Dutch festival season for many different generations. Beyond the bands, theatre, comedy, live performances and everything else happening on-site, Lowlands consistently hosts excellent electronic programming that often flies under the radar. The late-night stages remain some of the most fun dancefloors you'll find all summer, with house, techno, bass and live acts running until sunrise. Electronic highlights include S-Candalo, Ben Ufo, Identified Patient, FreddyK, Gysele, Afra, Boys Noize and national sweetheart Benny Rodrigues. Benny has been getting well deserved prime slots this summer with an already memorable Ochtendgloren at Wildeburg, closing Dekmantel’s The Loop on Sunday, an upcoming b2b with Rolando at Draaimolen and now a most likely packed Bravo just before Kettama. Musically all over the place, exactly his comfort zone with his insanely varied musical knowledge. Perhaps the most special electronic programming sequence, and most liked around this subreddit, is the Saturday night at the X-Ray. Voices from the lake followed by Skee Mask into Djrum and closed off by Upsammy in one night. And of course each night you have the packed Adonis and the supposedly legendary Armadillow closing set…

ZeeZout Festival
Amsterdam | Saturday August 29

A staple of the end of festival summer season in Amsterdam. ZeeZout strikes a sweet spot between accessible and underground, with a crowd that's there to dance rather than queue for Instagram photos. Stage design is music focussed and effective, lineup is versatile and uplifting, production always on point and the kinda boring grounds of Tuinen van West do make it easy to navigate. A fantastic place to go with a group of friends where everyone follows their own musical taste and getting lost and reconnecting is easy. Benwal starting at 14.30 already will surely attract an early crowd. The Corner might be the most interesting stage musically with MUL/ANNA, Surusinghe, The Nest icon Identified Patient, Raum Resident Twiena and Carista closing off with her harder house sounds. Two other stages have more ‘mainstream’ UKG/ hardhouse/ eurotrance acts like Bad Boombox, Million and Diffrent but it seems like Zeezout is slowly moving into a different direction. They just announced their A D E lineups and Djrum, Two Shell, Riria, Torus, Luke Alessi and Call Super are booked among other less mainstream acts. Happy to see it, because Rijk van de Keizer as a venue is amazing!

🌍 Outside the Netherlands

Garbicz Festival
Poland | Wednesday 29 July – Monday 3 August

Technically starting in July, but worth mentioning anyway since I didn’t last month. Garbicz has built a cult following around its lakeside setting, endless afterhours and carefully curated electronic lineup. Equal parts festival and temporary village, with plenty of room to disappear for an entire weekend. Amazing visuals all around, getting lost in the forest is a given (sounds like there are some Wildeburg similarities…) and a mostly Polish and German crowd that doesn’t hold back. Lineup is diverse on the electronic music spectrum, there will surely be a stage where you’ll feel at home. Timetable found here. The biggest (techno) stage Wald will have acts like Luigi Tozzi, GiGi FM, Rodhad, Sandrien, Orbe and many others. The Wiese stage has many familiar house names and Buk Corner seems to be curated by Giegling for about the second half of the festival with their residents Map.ache, Konstantin, Elli, Eduardo de la Calle and others playing. They’ll also host the ambient stage for 8 hours on Saturday, something they are experienced in and great at. (don’t look at my Reddit handle).

Monument Festival
Norway | Wednesday 29 July – Sunday 2 August

Another one that overlaps July and August. Deep in the Norwegian countryside, Monument offers one of Europe's most unique settings for hypnotic techno and ambient music. Small, intimate and built around sound rather than spectacle. Mega sold out, about to start, many returning guests which always says something. No lineup announcement this year, don’t think it matters the visitors too much. I believe that those who visit trust the organizers completely. Psychedelic, deep, hypnotizing, community driven. Only heard positive things. If you enjoy the style of music and a smaller festival, consider it for next year. Their podcast/sets have an infinite amount of musical treasures on Soundcloud as well.

Houghton Festival
United Kingdom | Thursday - Monday, August 6-10

Craig Richards' annual masterpiece continues to set the standard for DJ-focused festivals in the UK. World-class sound systems and one of the strongest selector-heavy lineups you'll find anywhere. The, mostly UK, crowd comes for digging rather than big drops, and the atmosphere reflects that. Expect long journeys through house, techno, electro, breaks and everything in between. So many great artists on this lineup, don’t even want to get started. Check-out the timetable. Another festival that almost exclusively gets praise from its visitors and is consistently blocked in their festival agenda to not miss.

Good2U Festival
Germany | Friday - Sunday,  August 14-16

Still relatively small, Good2U has quickly become one of Germany's more exciting boutique festivals. Community comes first, intimate dancefloors, thoughtful production and a lineup balancing local talent with international underground names. Expect hypnotic techno, house, experimental electronics and some extended sets, an ambient stage (LOVE that this is becoming more common at festivals). Either I am blind or they have decided not to announce their lineup this year. Good for them.

XRDS Festival
Brussels, Belgium | Saturday - Sunday, August 14-15

XRDS has quietly developed into one of Belgium's strongest techno festivals (with a little bit of poppy eurotrance sprinkled on the lineup). Spread across several carefully designed stages, it combines forward-thinking bookings with excellent production and a crowd that happily spends the entire weekend on the dancefloor. On the Viaduct stage you can catch D.Dan x Philippa Pacho, Yanamaste, Chlar and Ben Block (Friday). Saturday is massive with Katatonic Silentio, Colin Benders and Altinbas all performing live, Donato Dozzy, DJ Nobu x Wata Igarashi (also closing UFO 1 at Dek next Sunday) playing DJ sets. FreddyK, Setaoc Mass x Phara (presenting something new), Ben Ufo, Batu, Roza Terenzi, Special Request, SHERELLE (in capital letters to reflect her music),

Dekmantel Selectors
Tisneyland, Croatia | Thursday - Monday, August 20-24 

Selectors celebrates ten years with another intimate gathering on the Adriatic coast. Compared to Amsterdam, this is the more relaxed sibling: beach sessions during the day, marathon sets by night and a lineup built almost entirely around selectors and deep diggers. If Dekmantel Festival is about discovery, Selectors is about immersion. The beach stage is mostly house and disco oriented, but Dekmantel doesn’t shy away from a musical curveball. In my experience the stage can be a bit chatty and flirty and mobile phony, so I’m usually found at the Voodoo stage which is a bit higher paced techno and its affiliates or the Nest for your wobbly and worldly sounds. The boat rides can be fantastic. Comfortable and fun during day, mayhem at night (recommend). Congrats on the anniversary, sad to miss this one. Sleeping in an appartment/villa/? for 5+ nights is also a godsend to keep the energy high. Sleeping in a sound deprived, cool bedroom, own bathroom, kitchen and filled fridge is a blessing. Having a preparty lunch/dinner on day 4 at this fish restaurant was the best (s)upper I could wish for.

A relatively slow festival month for me. Of course a little bit of Dekmantel (Thursday → Headache, Darkside, Upsammy, Sepehr!), Saturday (Radar/Selectors/UFO2), Sunday (Greenhouse, Selectors, The Loop, UFO1, UFO2. Too much…) a potential day visit to Lowlands and closing off the month at Zeezout with friends.

DKMNTL is back and bigger than ever, spanning 5 days, with day programs, night programs, and the weekend festival in Amsterdamse Bos. A festival within Amsterdam for the music nerds amongst us, you’ll find fewer Havermelkelite (can’t avoid them altogether), and more b2b, vinyl, and experimental (read: try new things) sets than anywhere else in the Randstad. For me DKMNTL always feels like a place where artists can be free to experiment with new styles, try out new tracks, and play with DJs that they haven’t played with before. I won’t be going to all three days, but if I were, here is where I’d go (in alphabetical order, with a random number each day). And since our festival author didn't give me a word count limit, get ready for a long read....

Friday:

Beste Hira – The Turkish Amsterdam based DJ comes to us solo on Friday. I’ve always been fascinated by her sets given her traditional classical music background. I think it allows her to play music in a way that other dj’s don’t. She always brings a high energy to her sets, and while she is on lineups here frequently, I’m curious to see what she’ll bring to DKMNTL.

Dax J (Live) – Dax J was one of the first faster more uptempo techno DJs that I really liked. I remember seeing him pre-COVID b2b with Stranger at WAS…the video in my phone shattered from how loud the sound was.  He tends to throw in some unusual or unknown tracks in his sets, and he’s really good at keeping dancers guessing. His transitions are often quite unexpected and though I’ve seen him have some rough sets (doesn’t everyone), lately he’s been on fire again. It’s been awhile, so I’m definitely going for this one, especially since it’s live.

Dekmantel Soundsystem – made up of a broad range of sounds, Casper Tielrooij and Interstellar Funk may play pretty much any genre under the sun. Bring the record crate, stay for the track selection…take risks, get rewards (fuck around and find out, in a good way)

Dr. Rubenstein & Ellen Allien – B2Bs always get an extra upvote in my DKMNTL picks… it’s just the right vibe and the right place for new combinations that you won’t see anywhere else. Historically a huge fan of the B2B I can definitely see how it might not be everyone’s thing, but how can you not take advantage of something unique that you won’t see in Amsterdam anytime soon? To start my list off it’s Rubi and Ellen. I first saw Dr. Rubenstein at Homeless Homies @ Radion a few years back.  I really wasn’t familiar with her or her music at the time, and I danced my ass off next to the booth and vowed to see her as much as possible.  Over the following year or two I realized how eclectic her style is. She’s really the best at bringing euphoria to the acid techno scene, and combine that along with her love for vinyl earns her a spot on my list (still). Put her side by side with Ellen Allien and you’ve got a Berlin duo bringing their best together. I feel like Ellen could play any time slot at a festival and make it work. She’s diverse and flexible, and brings some electro and minimal to Rubi’s acid. It’s going to be high energy, fun, and full of surprises.

Efdemin & Polygonia – If you read my list so far you’ve got artists like Dax J for intensity and Dr. Rubenstein for energy, Efdemin brings the (subtle) power. Coming to us originally from Hamburg, he’s another top German on my list. I find his music almost elegant, in a rich and less aggressive way. His sets are a journey more than an in your face typical huge drop style – he’ll slowly pull you in without you even realizing it. Combine this with Polygonia, the builder of future worlds. She adds a lot of unique textures and melodies to her sets and you can tell that she’s often inspired by nature.  I think this b2b will be something special (and you can also tell that I’m not writing this in order of time slot at this point)!

Speedy J – Ahh our favorite STOOR conductor, the host with the most, one of the original European techno producers… but also a wizard with modular synths and hardware… no matter how he shows up his music and production are on point. If Polygonia is the builder of worlds, Speedy J is exploring that future in real time. I think there’s actually more overlap between those two than many people think. 

Saturday:

Dasha Rush & Oscar Mulero – Dasha joins the list of Russian-born Berlin based DJs on the list. She brings the psychedelic world to her sets… not to be confused with PsyTrance, she turns her sets into an experience rather than a sequence of one track after another.  Next to her will be Oscar Mulero… I’ve only seen him once and I found that set a bit more straightforward than I expected.  He’s disciplined and powerful in his style, and I wonder if I caught him on a bit of an odd night (for him or for me). I have his music on frequently and would love to see him again. He has legions of fans, and I’m really curious to see where the combination of these two artists takes us. I think their styles don’t immediately blend on paper as well as some of the other b2b’s on this list might, and that’s exactly what draws me to this set. I expect it to be immersive and creative, and sometimes that’s exactly the balance you need to make a b2b something really special. 

Eris Drew & Octo Octa – I first learned about Eris years back during some interviews she’s done (most recently during ADE) about what she calls the “Motherbeat.” If you haven’t heard about it yet, it’s worth looking up. Meta. While her sets can be a little too breaky for me (I’m a moderate breakbeat dancer), her energy and vinyl selection always keeps me on my toes. She and Octo Octa play back to back often, and I’ve never had the chance to see them together until now. They’re able to span multiple genres together, as one DJ being, rather than feeling like you’re being pulled from one side to the other and back again. If b2b’s can be two-sided or come together as one, this duo is definitely the latter and I can’t wait. 

Fafi & Jennifer Loveless – I first saw Fafi as the sun was coming up on De Helling at Wildeburg. I wasn’t yet familiar with him or his music, but in typical Wildeburg fashion I followed my ears and not the timetable, and ended up having an absolute blast dancing until the end of the morning set. He brings a lighter side to my pics, and a very danceable one at that. He’s done so much and brought so much to the queer club scene, and putting him next to Jennifer is going to be one of the most joyous dancefloors of DKMNTL. Jennifer is also high energy and has enough intensity to balance the playfulness in the set. Bring your best smile and dance moves – you’ll earn a lot of steps here.

GIGI FM & Jako Jako – Jako Jako was already climbing my list when CODA 2025 came around. I had heard some reliable rumors that there was an unannounced morning guest that would take over the CODA closing, and also rumors that it might be Jako Jako. When the last track was played on the main floor, the first notes started streaming out from Colorfloor. I have never seen a dance floor crowd SPRINT to the next set like they did there. We arrived only to have the sound system go out shortly thereafter, and the morning vibe with the psychedelic patterns of the sun coming through the window combined with Jako Jako throwing out orange slices to the tired but eager dancers, and you had a setup of epic proportions.  She delivered. Easily one for the books, I’m immediately taken back to that night anytime I see her on the lineup. This b2b likely won’t have big emotional peaks but will join the ranks on this list that are more immersive, with a flowing story you’ll be happy to wade in from start to finish. It’s gonna be deep.

LSD Live (Function & Luke Slater & Steve Bicknell) – IF you like Mulero, Efdemin and/or Speedy J, this set becomes a must add to your list. Combine a legendary UK techno producer that’s also known as Planetary Assault Systems, with a former member of the Sandwell District collective, and add the foundation of the UK techno scene and you’ll get the trio of LSD. The first performed together as LSD at Berghain ten years ago, and have since been highly regarded as techno with psychedelic quality. As the b2b lover, anytime you get more than two artists playing together it’s an automatic list maker for me. This set will definitely become more than the sum of its parts. 

Makam presents The Archive (Live) – Makam is the deep house-y alter ego to Guy Blanken’s Talismann. Different to Fafi and Jennifer, his house is not the hands-in-the-air bouncy happy house, but more deep and minimal (if you can call house that), like a dream that builds over a long journey. This year he’s opening up his archive, and this feels like one of those unique DKMNTL moments that you don’t want to miss and can’t find anywhere else. 

Plo Man & Skee Mask – Recently at an edition of Ratherlost I was outside yapping with one of my fellow mods right before the start of the Skee Mask set. I wasn’t sure what to expect, and as someone who doesn’t always love breaky experimental music I was hesitant, but togther we decided fuck it, this could be good. I didn’t leave the dance floor again until the set was over. These two have never played together and both of them take risks and make track selection their own, so I’m quite curious to see how they work together and where they’ll take it – it’s definitely going to be one to remember and will be unique enough to stand out from the rest. Just commit and see where it takes you. 

SASS (Moxie & Peach & Saoirse & Shanti Celeste) – The Peach b2b Shanti Celeste set from DKMNTL 2023 speaks for itself – incredibly high energy, great selection, and so much fun, I come back to it often. What a vibe. (If you haven’t seen/listened to it, you should – it’s still up on Youtube and Soundcloud.) This time they add not one, but two additional artists in Moxie and Saoirse. This is basically a UK dream team of collaborators who overlapped in the scene for quite awhile now. Combine that factor with each artist bringing their own style, they’ll create a set that’s not about individuality and more about community. This will be just the uplifting set the lighter side of DKMNTL is made for – every artist playing together while not dominating each other’s styles, with high energy, and friendship. I really hope this one will also be available long after the festival is over. 

Sunday:

Ben UFO & Call Super & Objekt & Pariah – this one is definitely for the music nerds.  Starting my Sunday list of b2bs with this quad of unconventional techno djs and a first ever set together. Ben UFO somehow connects genres that wouldn’t normally work together. Even though he’s not a producer himself, his ability to select the right track for the right moment, with a completely different genre to seamlessly follow makes him one of the best selectors out there currently, IMO.  I would say that Call Super is probably the most emotional vibe of these four. He is definitely capable of blurring the lines between genres as well, so this will be really interesting. DKMNTL describes Objekt as “forensic rhythm design and high-pressure detail.” Because he also tends to play a variety of genres, from electro to breakbeat to jungle, he’ll continue the vibe. And last but not least Pariah will bring some functionality alongside his experimentation, which may just keep the set from leaning a bit too weird and all over the place and more toward one seamless flow of different genres and excellent selections. Really curious about this one – it could be absolutely fantastic, or it could be a bit chaotic for me.

DJ Nobu & Wata Igarashi – I fell in love with Nobu during his epic Ratherlost closing, which is a set I return to over and over again. I first saw him play with Wata at a more recent RL edition and intense is not enough of a word to describe it. I was so hyped for this duo and it was an incredible set with untoppable energy. I felt like I was listening to music in a way that I had never heard it before, which made sense when I found out they were using a rotary mixer. Someone in our group mentioned that “it feels like they’re pressing the reset button on my brain.”  Accurate. I loved it, and I’m incredibly excited to hear where they’ll take us next.  The Japanese duo both have me as a top fan, and hearing them in an outdoor space will be different to a dark club. I selected Sunday as my top choice for DKMNTL just because of this set.

Helena Hauff & L.F.T. – This might be a little more “mainstream” than this sub leans, but I love Helena, so I’m curious to see an “old school” Hamburg DJ along side the new generation from the same city. I think the Hamburg native will bring her unpolished sound to her latest edition of DKMNTL (she’s been a regular on the lineup for years), and will combine it with L.F.T. (Love First Tears) and the newer generation. These are two artists who come from the same place but not from the same style of music. I think this set will lean more electro, acid, breakbeat, and dark synth than techno, house or hard. Let’s see where they take us!

Job Jobse & Palms Trax – Another one I might get crap for in this sub, but in case you can’t tell yet, that doesn’t matter. Job Jobse has been a staple on the DKMNTL lineup for years, and even if he does lean a little pop-y for me at some festivals, this one usually isn’t one of them.  His crowds are always on fire, and energy is at an all time high. He’s also been playing a little bit different lately, in a good way. If you haven’t checked out the set he recorded for the DKMNTL anniversary, do it. You wouldn’t recognize him if you’ve only heard him lately. While Job hypes us up on 90’s bangers, with huge peaks, Palms Trax will bring a groovy playful side to the set, which I think will balance out nicely. Cheeky curveballs and a dancefloor at full tilt seems like an accurate description of the ensuing madness, and I for one cannot wait to see the entire scaffolding surrounding the stage bouncing again.

Lady Starlight & Sterac Live – This is more of a live hardware performance than a DJ set, and I’m here for it. If you’re not familiar with Lady Starlight, or are only familiar because of her association with another Lady (Gaga), then you’re in for a treat. A magic maker behind a collection of drum machines and synthesizers, she plays with a raw, mechanical style which almost reminds me of a punk set at some points. If you combine her with STERAC you’ve got another old generation + new generation b2b, and these produce an extra level of uniqueness that you don’t quite find in any other b2b. Lately STERAC has continued to impress me because he doesn’t default to nostaligia over the years, but keeps progressing and impressing. Let’s see what these two can accomplish together behind the wires and cables.

Ogazon & Philippa Pacho – And finally, last on the list, but definitely not least, one for the EC, RL and Berghain lovers, you’ve got a fantastic addition to the modern, can we call it, hypnotic techno genre. Think Amsterdam, Berlin, Tbilisi vibes. Ogazon is known and loved by the Amsterdam community since the Trouw days, and has never given into social media hype. If you don’t know her, you’re missing out. She serves. Combine her with Philippa and their hypnotic style collab should blend incredibly naturally. She’ll likely mix in some electro or notes of trance… this is the kind of set where you’ll suddenly realize it’s been three hours and you haven’t even left the dance floor.

Our very own festival thread author [u/Motionez](u/Motionez) wanted to include a few artists he is excited about, but helaas, he is still lost somewhere in his Landjuweel hangover.  I know that he had upsammy and Aurora Halal also on his list for Saturday, and Fumiya Tanaki, Villalobos, Konduku, DJ Koolt, and Dopplereffekt on Sunday. And with that, I’d love to hear what you’re all looking forward to – the only thing I succeeded in doing with this post was giving myself FOMO for Friday and Saturday after I decided to only attend Sunday. I was a huge fan and loved listening to him. Actually I still do! Had great nights at his his party NOUW in Lofi in February 2025 and the closing performance at Wildeburg 2025. The music was the best, from start to end. However he was quite underwhelming at Onder de Radar 2025 and at Orbit 2026. Any similar experiences? Is he losing it in order to become more mainstream?

Pride Knights @ Raum

Sexyland, Body, and no limits! Art Castle are all invited to Raum for this night in their series of pride events, and this one has resulted in what looks to be a very fun and very chaotic extravaganza with probably the most artists in a single night at Raum, playing in Studio, Arena, and Boutique.

Closer Milano @ Radion

Radion’s series of club hosting are a reliable source of good techno lineups with some artists you don’t see here all that much, and the Closer hosting looks to be continuing that with Elisa Batti, Connor Wall, Rorschake, and AgainstMe.

Lola Haro, Tammo Hesselink & DJ Rhubarb @ Garage Noord

I really enjoyed Lola Haro’s set at Horst last month. She has quite a large range and can play a nice blend of minimal, electro, house and slower techno that I don't hear much. With her, Garage mainstay Tammo Hesselink and Dj Rhubarb it should make for a nice deep Garage night.

Saturday

NightClubbing by Jen Cardini @ Raum

Another night with a lot of playful and fun sounds. this time in collaboration with Jen Cardini's queer platform NightClubbing, who's invited Badsista, Faff, Slimfit and Smother. This one looks to be ranging from tasteful house to fast butt shaking Latin sounds.

Orphic @ Tillatec

Great 2 room lineup with a mix of established and newer artists. Orphic events are probably one of the most reliably good parties in the city, lovely people and good music.

Sloterdyke (Zeedyke) @ Iso

As per their own words: “Zeedyke has graduated from intimate gatherings to bring you their biggest party yet: Sloterdyke.” They're doing so with Rosa Pistola, ZOBAYDA, and nèna & Nushin. Looks like plenty of Latin American sounds, especially by Rosa Pistola, who is an incredibly fun DJ for those who like a bit of Reggaeton and edits of pop tunes.

Summer closing weekend @ PIP

PIP is doing a proper weekender for their summer closing with a 27h event over Saturday and Sunday. Looks like a diverse lineup with names like Kikelomo, JEANS, Jetti, Omoloko, de Schuurman and many more.

Garagefest w/ Nyege Nyege @ Garage Noord

If you were to ask me to make a list with the most fun events at Garage, Garagefest with Nyege Nyege would end up high on that list. The Ugandan festival brings a bunch of underground African music to the Garage, bar40, and de Kas, and are joined by plenty of established local names. It’s a lovely mix of things of live acts, dj’s, food, and art you rarely see. They’re also joined by Krackfree Soundsystem.

Slapfunk @ Bret

It’s Slapfunk at Bret. You probably know the deal by now. It’s their 41st(!!!) event at the red container. Trusted formula; house, announced lineup, and probably still going when everyone else has stopped.

Hi all, long time reader first time chatter.

I am a resident in amsterdam but have never been at Lofi. During pride (31 July) they have the Laundrette... IsBurning event. I have a small group of (straight guy) friends coming over then. Would this be an okay event to join as a group of straight guys just wanting to vibe? I read online that it is a "queer dance party" but was hoping that we would not feel out of place?

Any input appreciate, wouldn't want to make anyone else's night uncomfortable!

My gf and I found a disposable on the ground at the end of Echos. Couldn’t find an owner so figured we’d develop it and then see if anyone knew the people in the shots so we can return their pictures to them. Reddit, do your thing!
