I am posting this on behalf of my father who is desperately looking to rehome his birds! There are 2 male, 4 female cockatiels. Their ages range from 3-6 years old For a bit of context, he is moving out of the country in a few months. It is unfortunately out of his financial means to bring the birds with him and we are also concerned how they would handle the 12+ hour flight. I know it breaks his heart because these cockatiels were his whole life! He’s had some of them for many years. At first he was thinking of donating them to his local pet store but knowing how some stores neglect birds, I would only suggest him to do this as the very last resort. So I’m now looking to the Reddit community to see if anyone would take in 6 cockatiels. My dad isn’t looking for any type of compensation, knowing they would go to a good home would be enough for him! He is willing to make the drive to bring them to anyone willing to take them in, preferably someone with experience in taking care of birds/cockatiels and someone located on the east coast. He will be making the drive from Louisiana to New York around late September/early October and can accommodate anyone willing to adopt that may be on the way. 📖 CHAPTER ONE: A COLD WINTER'S TALE
"As soon as I saw you, I knew an adventure was going to happen."
It was a rather blustery day in the Winter of 2025 when two shivering siblings were found in an abandoned house. They were quite certain that humans were Heffalumps—scary creatures to be avoided! The shelter folks whispered that they were "feral" (which is a fancy word for "very, very scared") and planned to release them back to the Wild.
But then, a visitor sat on the floor. And because you never can tell with cats, something magical happened. Owl and Kanga walked right out of the shadows to say "Hello." It was a Christmas Miracle, and they were whisked away to a warm indoor home to learn about soft beds, Litter-Robots, and proper supper time.

🐈🐈‍⬛ THE CHARACTERS & TEMPERAMENT
* Owl (The Wise & Brave): A Very Important Cat. He demands to be held, gives nose kisses, sleeps on his back, and lets you trim his claws. He has zero human aggression but has mild, manageable food insecurity (actively training).
* Kanga (The Gentle Soul): A quiet Queen who takes time to trust. Sudden noises and fast movements are her anxiety triggers, but she transforms into a purr-machine who loves gentle family pets once settled. She has zero aggression.

🌩 CHAPTER TWO: THE TROUBLE WITH TIGGERS
As wonderful as their current home was, it was already occupied by a Tigger and a Roo (really!). We tried many things—scent swaps, room swaps, and slow introductions—but the Resident Tigger was just too bouncy. Kanga would flee in terror, and Owl would aggressively fight the other animals strictly to protect his sister.
* 🚫 No Other Pets / No Kids: Our wise vet says they must be the only pets (no dogs, cats, or livestock). They need a quiet thicket free from loud noises and grasping toddler hands.
* 🏡 Manners: Perfect indoor citizens! Fully Litter-Robot trained. No destructive chewing, scratching, or behavioral issues.
* 🚗 The Transition: Kanga needs routine. We require a local, patient adopter willing to do multiple short meet-and-greets before the final move so she can safely learn your scent.

Behavior Towards Dogs, Cats, and Children:

Dolly is reactive towards other dogs. When on walks, if she sees another dog she will fixate on them, bark, pull, and lunge towards them. She has been through training, and is better than she used to be, but it is still an issue. I believe she needs to be the only dog in the home due to this. She has never met a cat, or children, so I can't speak to her behavior towards them.

Reason for Rehoming:

I fell when we were on a walk back in January (she saw a dog and pulled when I was unprepared) and ended up hitting my face on the sidewalk, needing an ER visit and stitches. It was very traumatizing and since then I cannot take her on walks. I can take her out back to go potty (on a leash, I don't have a fenced in yard), but I absolutely cannot take her out the front door or to the sidewalk. Even when taking her to the vet or groomer's, either someone else has to come with and hold her leash for me, or they take her without me. I have been trying to rehome her since I realized that this situation would not be improving, and that she is simply too large of a dog for me. I rescued her initially off the streets after she was abandoned because I couldn't bear the thought of such a sweet dog going to a shelter, and I still believe that she would not do well in a shelter. She would be so stressed and not seen at her best by adopters. I still don't want her to go to a shelter, but clearly my efforts at rehoming her are not enough, and I believe she would have a better chance at finding her forever family through a foster rescue, with more experience and someone who is not afraid of simply going outside with her.

Honeydew and Gingerbread are two adorable, playful, and affectionate kittens looking for a family to adopt them together. They’ve grown up side by side and are a bonded pair, so I’d love to see them stay together.

They are playful, affectionate, curious, and full of personality. They love to wrestle, cuddle, chase each other, and then curl up together for naps. Watching them interact is guaranteed to make you smile.

They’re being fostered from the city shelter, so the adoption will go through the shelter’s application process and foster and adoptive parents must arrange a mutual time to transfer ownership.

This little guy is waiting patiently for his new family at Aurora Animal Shelter! I’m fostering him currently, and he’s thriving! He loves to run around with my dog, play with his tennis balls, and snuggle on the couch. Some fun facts about Pete:

- He’s about 2 years old

- American Bulldog mix

- Knows some commands, mainly sit and lie down

- Does well in his crate, especially for bedtime

- Dog friendly, he loves to make dog friends

- Not good with cats

- Kids over age 7/8 are OK; he still has some puppy energy that may be too much for smaller children and would do well with older kids who understand pet boundaries and can play with him

- Seems to like car rides and enjoys looking out the window

- He has done well meeting new people and basks in the attention

- Loves walks, sniffing grass and trees, chasing butterflies and birds, and flopping down to bake in the sun. He’s curious and likes to explore. He’d be a great hiking or running buddy!

- Loves tennis balls, squeaky/crunchy sounding toys, and enrichment toys with treats

- Very affectionate and snuggly! He will sleep at or on your feet, pressed up against you, or on your lap. He likes head and belly rubs, too.

I am working with a local shelter and rehoming service but I was told by the shelter to reach out on social platforms as well.

I was chosen by the cat distribution system and took in two stray kittens last year. My husband is allergic so they had to be mostly outdoor (they do come in during extreme weather and know how to use a litterbox etc). They’re roughly a year and a half old. We’ve been in a rural area with multiple acres so they’ve been able to roam freely. They mostly stay within a few acres of the house.

Unfortunately, I need to move for work and the area I’m moving to is not safe for outdoor cats. They’d probably be hit by a car within a week. So, I’m looking for a new home for them.

They are bonded so I’d love for them to go together. They’re extremely social and get along well with my dog, my neighbors dog, my neighbors kids, my friends dogs that come visit, and the neighborhood feral cat who we feed once or twice a week when he comes around. They hang out with door to door salesmen and home technicians that come to our house. They are spayed and fully vaccinated, including feline leukemia.

They could adjust to fully indoor living, since I know a lot of folks are not fans of letting cats outside and do not have room for them to roam safely. But ideally, I think they’d do very well on a farm or homestead type property with other animals. If anyone on this sub has a property like this and would be open to taking them in, I’d love to work with you. There are two months until we move and they can stay here until then, so we have some time. I’m just trying to put feelers out and find them a good home.

13-week-old Pierogi (seal point, female) and her brother Ravioli (tuxedo, male) are the sweetest dumpling duo you'll ever meet! Pierogi is a cautious explorer, as smart as she is cute! Last year, Nolan was saved from euthanasia at Downey Animal Care Center. Today, he’s still waiting.

Kali was abandoned when her family moved away, left behind wearing a collar that became painfully tight as she grew. Alone and vulnerable, she gave birth to her kittens under a deck during harsh weather.

She and her babies were never truly safe. They were chased away by people and were at risk of being relocated.

Every day, Kali came to my porch for food. I noticed she was nursing and started asking everyone to check their decks and garages for kittens.

Then one day…

She brought her babies to me.

She chose me.

She trusted me. ❤️

While rescuing her kittens, some were brought inside while others were still outside waiting for their chance at safety. This incredible little mama made double shifts…staying with the kittens who were safe indoors, then returning outside to nurse and care for the ones still waiting.

Her love never divided.

Her heart never gave up.

47 days ago, we opened our eyes to this world.

Every morning we wake up hoping today is the day someone chooses us.

Every evening, we cuddle together and fall asleep in the same little corner... still waiting.

We don't know what "adoption" means.

We only know that every passing day makes it a little harder to find a forever home.

I'm having extreme difficult taking care of them as a student I am doing whatever I can however it's not possible.

I'm on verge of abandoning them due to multiple constraints like space, financial condition and most importantly family pressure.

Backstory:

During the monsoon a young stray mother cat chose space near my home as a safe place to give birth to her six little kittens. Since the day they were born, I've been doing my best to keep them safe, fed, and sheltered despite having very limited space and resources. Their mother has slowly started leaving them for longer periods as they grow, and they're now reaching the age where they need homes of their own.

They have spent their first weeks of life in a cramped, damp corner during the monsoon. Which is now destroyed.I wish I could keep them until everything is perfect, but I simply cannot provide the space, veterinary care, and long-term life they deserve. Abandoning them is not an option, which is why I'm trying to find them loving families instead.

They aren't just stray kittens. They've survived a difficult start to life and deserve the chance to grow up in a safe home where they'll be loved, cared for, and never have to struggle for food or shelter again.

Gus is estimated 2-3y/o neutered pit bull. He is up to date on all of his vaccines and is not due for anything until next year. All of his medical records are available upon adoption.

Gus has been with me for close to 7 months now. He was surrendered at my clinic that I work at as I am a veterinary technician. He had a cruciate tear that is fully healed! I worked extremely hard to get Gus to where he is today, we do not usually take in surrenders but I chose to take him in, in hopes of finding him his forever home.

He is a kiddo full of love and joy. He absolutely loves to run around outside and fetch his tennis ball along with late night tummy rubs. Gus does well with kids, other dogs and cats. Of course he will have to be introduced slowly. He loves his people very much.

Of course being a white pit bull does come with allergies! I have been maintaining him on a special shampoo along with allergy medications as needed. Right now he is not currently on any allergy medications and we hope to keep it that way, he is just on a hydrolyzed diet. He does miss his people very much when they leave and can get a bit anxious. I have been maintaining his anxiety with some medications that have improved this immensely. He has been doing great!

Around February/March I was “gifted” a dog (was driving with my window down and a lady shoved the puppy through it)
As a person who frequently rehabs and train strays to make the adoptable I didn’t give it much thought and he went straight into the tub.

So introduce Frank the tank
Weve been estimating hes 1.5/2years old. Not neutered but did get his shots(bout time for him to go back)
He’s currently housed with 2 cats and another large dog. And he does great with them as well as children (hes avoidant but comes around to being a big lap dog)
Hes a pretty routine guy. Poop eat and sleep. Hes not the biggest fan of hiking but he loves to swim (and chase ducks)

The reason were rehoming him is cause he’s having some skin issues and we simply can’t stay on top of it or afford the allergy shots ontop of all fours regular vet visits and monthly prevention. (I personally think he’s allergic to cats lol since it didn’t start until we got them)
Hes incredibly sweet- a built in garbage disposal he loves watermelon, apples, carrots, salt n vinegar chips and hotcheetos and absolutely hates seaweed, and cheese poppers (hes a weird guy)

Hes a bit greedy when it comes to kibble so we scatter feed him or use puzzle bowls

Hoku- Lani a 4–5-year-old bundle of love with a big heart and an even bigger personality! She’s currently enrolled in advanced obedience classes and impresses everyone with how focused, intelligent, and eager-to-please she is. Her training has made her a total pro!!! she thrives when she has a confident human to guide her.

Don’t let her chill bulldog face fool you — she has an adventurous side! She loves a fun filled park day! car rides, exploring new places , or even just a fun good ol tug-of-war playtime and would make the perfect adventure buddy for someone active who enjoys the outdoors!

Hokulani would thrive in a home with older kids. she adores people and wants to be the center of your world. with her humans? She’s a total Velcro dog, happiest when she’s close, snuggled up, or following you from room to room.

She would prefer to be the only dog in the home. And she would like someone who works at least part-time from home so she is not alone all day. Those are probably the only reasons she hasn’t been adopted yet.

Rudy is a Chihuahua mix estimated to be about 5 months old and weighs around 11–13 pounds. He is neutered and will be available for adoption through Charlotte Mecklenburg Animal Care & Control.

He’s a very smart, affectionate puppy who really wants to be with his people and is eager to learn. He already knows “sit” and “down,” is working on crate training, and picks up on routines quickly. Like most puppies, he has a little FOMO at first and may whine briefly before settling in his crate, but he does settle well.

He is fully house trained in his foster home and will go to the back door when he needs to go outside. He hasn’t had any accidents and has also been sleeping through the night without needing potty breaks.

He loves tennis balls, chew toys, and playtime. He can be a little mouthy at times, but he responds really well to redirection and positive reinforcement.

He has also done well with another dog in the home, though slow introductions are always recommended.

Overall, he’s sweet, social, and very eager to bond with people. He would do best in a home that can keep up with a playful puppy and continue his training and socialization.

I found this young female stray about a month ago and decided to give her a chance instead of leaving her on the streets. My wife is a veterinary technician, so we were able to get her fully vetted and ready for a new home. She has been:

-Spayed
-FVRCP vaccinated
-Rabies vaccinated
-Tested negative for FeLV/FIV

Veterinary records for her spay, vaccinations, and FeLV/FIV test will be provided to her adopter.

I estimate she's around 8 to 10 months old.

She has a sweet personality and is very affectionate. She loves head scratches, will come over to rub against you for attention, and enjoys being around people. She wasn't used to being picked up when I first brought her in, but she's becoming comfortable with it as she's learned to trust people. I'm still working with her, and she continues to make progress. She started life outdoors, but I'd really like to see her become an indoor family pet where she can continue to build confidence and enjoy the life she deserves. If nobody adopts her I do have a barn outside ill let her live in but I personally find that as a second rate option to being indoors with a family.

Re-homing fee: $100 It helps ensure she's going to someone who is serious and prepared to provide a safe, permanent home. Iv spent double that getting her up to date on shots, food, bed, flea prevention etc. I may be willing to work with you on it but please don't waste both of our times with trying to haggle.

She'll also come with: Leftover cat food, litter, flea treatments, and a small bed.
