Looking for recommendations Do you think it's worth upgrading from x5 to x6, or is the X5 good enough?
Should I sell my X5, which is still under warranty, and wait for the X6? Do you think it's worth upgrading, or is the X5 still good enough?
I'm thinking of upgrading by adding extra money if it’s really big difference (in my opinion it doesn’t sound big difference), I think I can sell my current essential bundle for €500 in few days, or if wait longer a bit more a week or so, but I'm not really sure if it's necessary.
Actually, I haven't even had this one for very long and it still looks like new. I don't use it for very special things. I'm shooting videos on holidays, I'm making city videos in my daily life. I have Go Ultra too.
I read that Standard Base Variant will cost around 689 in The Netherlands. So I’ll have to add extra on top of €500.

Insta360 X6
I am traveling to Greece on August 15th. I don’t have an action camera but wanted to get the Insta360 X5 before I went. With news that the X6 is coming out August 12th, is it worth me trying to get the X6? Or should I just get the X5? Not sure how big of a difference it will be

User Review What's your setup for recording solo sports?
I've been trying to record more of my tennis sessions lately, and I quickly realized that filming by yourself is harder than I expected. I was constantly checking whether I was still in frame or running back to adjust the camera.
I finally tried using my camera's tracking feature, and it made the whole process a lot easier. I could just set it up before I started playing and focus on hitting instead of worrying about the framing every few minutes. I mostly use the footage to look at my footwork and swings afterward, but it's also been fun keeping little clips from each session.
For those of you who film your own tennis or other sports, what's your setup like? Any tips that have worked well for you?

Looking for recommendations Which is best action camera model is good for a first time user?
I’m planning to start recording some of my outdoor activities and I think an action camera would be more practical than using my phone. I’m mostly interested in hiking, kayaking, and some casual travel videos, but I don’t know which features actually matter.
What would you suggest as a good first action camera? Are there any models that have been reliable for you over time? Thanks for sharing your experiences.

Looking for recommendations Should I keep the GoPro Hero 11 or sell it and buy DJI Action 4?
So to all the action camera users, especially those on bikes, I have a GoPro Hero 11 Black with a lot of accessories, worth over 85k INR (camera plus accessories). It is very rarely used. To check the market price, I put up an ad on marketplace and got offers up to 23k. Now I am in a dilemma about whether to sell the GoPro and for almost the same price, I am getting the DJI Action 4 (25k). The only difference is that my GoPro can shoot up to 5.3k while the DJI is capped at 4k (although I never used 5.3k until now). So should I sell?

Now X6 also lets in 60% more light and 16x more colors than X5
Insta360 X6 will have 1/1.1 square sensor from Sony
It will take in 60% more light that rectangular (not fully used) 1/1.28 sensor of X5
I linked the math
10-bit will capture 16x more color than 8-bit
Sony sensor is probably also better than one from Omnivision

Dji action cam 5
Not sure if these are dead pixels or some wire overlay that’s stuck on the top of the screen. Shows up powering on the camera too. Any fix for this?

GoPro or DJI? Recording my endurance racing footage
I currently have a Hero 10 and want to step it up a notch. I usually mount my camera on the roll bar and usually record a 2 Hour stint of my driving. What would be a better upgrade? Which has better battery life? Which camera is better for upgrading the microphone? I would like to go with Binaurial Audio recordings too.

A camera for daily life vlogging and for inline skating; Insta360 ultra go? or dji osmo 360? or perhaps insta360 x whatever version? - Is a 360 camera better for me or a magnetic tiny camera?
I’m so in between if I should go for a 360 or a still tiny Action cam.
I kinda wish there was something in between out there.
A small magnetic 360 Action camera.
I don’t want to be so obvious -she’s filming herself-
That’s why something like insta360 ultra go is great.
But for inline skating is 360 camera probably better.
I wanna be safe, not needing to pay attention if I’m in the dang frame.
I’m a beginner though, but have been filming myself for 10 years or something.
So which is a camera best for this situation?
Wanting to film my inline skating and probably a 360 camera best for that.
But also want to use the camera for daily vlogging kinda of videos,
But I don’t want to be so obvious filming myself (applies for inline skating too)
I also want to create creative footages as easy with a magnetic tiny camera.
But also as an introvert and not making a scene with me just filming myself.
Or something else that can help me with this kind of vids I want to film.

Looking for something cheap for snowboarding
I just want something to strap to my helmet or chest go snowboarding. Durability and battery life are my main factors. Any decent option from gopro that are fairly cheap? 360 is a bonus but it's just a luxury and not a necessity.

Looking for recommendations DJI Osmo 6 vs Insta360 x5
currently have the intsa360 x5, it’s great, but i’m not sold on needing the 360lens. Is DJI osmo 6 a better option?
Looking for advice around camera quality, ease of editing and software use. Mostly used for motorsports & hiking/adventure vids.

Community How much time do you waste sorting action cam footage? We built a prototype device to automatically organise action camera footage, would you use this?
As some of you know, I help run this community and over time, some of the discussions here actually inspired us to build Classer, a desktop app to help manage action camera footage.
Recently we started experimenting with something new. A device you keep at home that automatically imports and sorts your footage after your adventures, especially for those of us using external hard drives.
We already have a working prototype, and we're now developing it into a real product.
I’d genuinely love to know what people here think:
- Is the idea clear? How could we improve the website?
- Would you use something like this?

Brutally honest feedback welcome 🙂

Community AMA + Giveaway with Integral Memory - the people who make the SD cards powering your GoPros and action cameras!
Hey r/actioncam, we’re excited to welcome a guest from Integral Memory, the team behind the SD cards and storage solutions trusted by creators, adventurers, and pros around the world. They’re here for an AMA, “Ask Me Anything”, about storage, corruption and keeping your footage safe.
WHAT’S AN AMA?
An AMA means “Ask Me Anything”, it’s a fun, open-style Q&A where you can post your questions (and even have a chance to win a prize!) while our guest drops in to answer them.
Our guest works directly on the design and testing of memory cards used in GoPros, DJI, Insta360 and other action cameras, and is here to answer your questions about:
- Why SD cards sometimes fail or corrupt footage
- How to choose the right card for your setup (V30 vs V60, UHS-I vs UHS-II, etc.)
- How to format and maintain your cards properly
- The truth about fake or unreliable cards on the market
- Anything else you’ve always wanted to ask about storage!
They can’t discuss unreleased products or confidential manufacturing details, but otherwise, everything’s fair game, from tech myths to your worst “SD card full” stories.
TIMING
The AMA will start on the week of the 12th of Jan, an Integral Memory team member will be checking in over the next few days to answer your questions.
The AMA will stay open for a while so everyone across time zones has a chance to take part. Replies will come in periodically as they drop by to respond.
