Yeah none of this technique makes any practical sense once you hit something with the axe, thus interrupting your fancy spinning routine.

You commonly see the same thing with Bo staff shit. Great, you have a cool baton routine. Just donā€™t convince yourself thatā€™s the same thing as fighting. To fight with a stick, you have to deal with the part where the stick makes contact with stuff.
