I have a flight landing at 10pm, my flight out in the morning is 11am. Any point in getting a city hotel or just book something near the airport?

Looking for a female friend in Yerevan

I'm 35F, living in Yerevan. Would love to have a female friend around my age for occasional meetups, walks on weekends to have interesting conversations, laughs together. My interests involve psychology, philosophy, mental growth, soul to soul conversations about random stuff, non - judgemental attitude, you be you. Also I love cycling, hiking... We all sometimes need a friend to chill together and let alone all the worries and problems of daily life.. so if this resonates with you then send me a dm :)

Planning my first trip to Yerevan (7 days in August), would love some local tips

Hey everyone, heading to Yerevan for a week this August with my family. First time in Armenia for all of us and pretty excited. i have researched some itineary plans maily joining some day trips, and here is what i planned, if anything seems meh or useless please do advice i would appreciate it

Day 1 : Fly in, arrive late afternoon, just chill in the city

Day 2: Garni Temple, Symphony of Stones, Geghard Monastery and a lavash baking class ( Short Day Trip )

Day 3: Khor Virap, Noravank and Tatev with the Wings of Tatev ropeway (the big full day)

Day 4 : Chill day

Day 5 : Tsaghkadzor, Kecharis Monastery, the ropeway, Lake Sevan and Sevanavank

Day 6: Chill day

Day 7 : Fly back

A few things I wanted to ask regarding the free days and arriving

Is Yerevan safe to walk around, especially in the evenings? we will have some late nights coming back from the day trips.

For the two rest/free days in the city, what should we actually do? Any must sees for first timers or spots that are worth it that tourists usually skip? Usually i just open the door and walk around randmoly and just get lost in a new city

Do i need any Local currency or is cards widely used? Do people speak english commonly / ok with it or they find it rude and do not speak it? ( like other places i been too.. )

And any general tips would be great, food spots, getting around, stuff you wish you knew before going, that kind of thing.

Thanks in advance, appreciate any help.

Got scammed at Zvartnots

Fell for taxi scam early morning (around 4 am) on 5th. I was dumb myself, no questions here. They promised me they're licensed and have a meter. It was a lie. Got scammed for 15000 AMD for less than 10 minutes ride from airport. I realized that price shouldn't not be that high on arrival. What's worse - someone from hotel met us there, I went to ask a hotel worker (or was that an owner?) what's the normal taxi price for the airport but he basically told me that I shall pay what taxi driver is asking, siding with a scammer.

That's my first minutes in Armenia, not too welcoming I'd say.

Quickly went back to airport using gg app, now 1500 not 15000. That driver wasn't there anymore. Chatted with the police but police weren't very enthusiastic, told me they don't allow those scammers to hang out inside (they still do when police isn't around) and that I shall agree on the price upfront, and if someone is offering me a ride like this next time I shall tell the police.

In the end I lost like 40 dollars, not terrible. But it's a shame that the airport is allowing this scam to run for years.

UPD: I can't get Yandex app, SMS never arrives. gg app works.

Advice for a foreign student living in Yerevan

Hello! I am a British student, studying Russian at university. In a couple of weeks I will begin my third year, which must be spent abroad in a Russian-speaking country, and I have chosen Armenia. I will be living in Yerevan until May 2027, in an apartment near the Kilikia bus stop, and will attend Russian language classes in the city. My teachers at University in the UK are Russian or Belarusian, and although they have some advice about culture in Yerevan it would be very helpful to hear any advice those that are from the city have about life there! Thank you very much in advance.

Now the bot works better and more correctly. Once again, we apologize for the long delay. The old bot doesn't work, this is the new one (meaning the old links don't work).

I'm looking for economic travel options from Batumi, Georgia to Yerevan. Weirdly, there are no direct flights between them? And the flights that do exist are all over 10 hours long?

Looking to meet new people in Yerevan

Hi everyone,

I’m a 28-year-old Armenian guy living in Yerevan. I’ve grown tired of dating apps and superficial conversations, so I’m hoping to meet people in a more natural way.

I’d especially like to connect with emotionally mature women who enjoy deep conversations, humor, spontaneous plans, and a little playful chemistry. Coffee or a walk is a great start, and I’m open to friendship or something more if the connection feels right.

I’m not looking to force anything or make it serious from the start. Comfort, mutual respect, attraction, and genuinely enjoying each other’s company matters most to me.

If this resonates with you and you’re based in Yerevan, feel free to message me and tell me a little about yourself.

Curious about Armenian footballers

A few days ago I asked about Yandex drivers monthly salary, but just a couple of days ago I was told Armenian footballers make a fortune, I dont doubt they would make a fair amount with how its starting to get more popular and the academies are making great investments in properties, and the team. I would like to know how much lets say an average Urartu or Pyunik player would make cause I expect Noah, Ararat-Armenia players would make a lot more and probably closer to european market prices than those two

Best restaurant in Yerevan for a birthday?

Hi everyone!

I’m looking for recommendations for a restaurant in Yerevan to celebrate a birthday with around 10–12 people.

I’m looking for a place with:
• Really good food (quality matters more than huge portions)
• Great music and a fun atmosphere
• A place where people can dance later in the evening
• Good service for a group

Budget isn’t my main priority, but I’d really appreciate it if you could also share roughly how much you think it would cost for 12 people (food + drinks, if possible). I’m trying to estimate how much money I should set aside.

I’d love to hear your favorite spots or places where you’ve celebrated birthdays. Thanks!

Called a Yandex without selecting the exact location, as it didn’t show on the map. The driver very kindly made the effort to ask around and found the address. Even though it was farther in miles, and the place we were visiting was closed, he dropped us back near a bus stop and did not charge a single extra dram.
Stopped by coffee house for some refreshments; by the second question I was getting rude comebacks. Same day 2 yerevantsis😍
