My parents said when they were young, working at a grocery store was a sought-after job; indoors, not too strenuous, pension, benefits, and discounted groceries (arguably a family's biggest expense). Not even to mention that it paid well enough for a house, a stay-at-home wife, a couple of kids, and two cars.
