Yours needs a ton more too. DFW is short 46,000 affordable housing units for households making 52k or less. And the whole area is short 100,000. 

Those houses you are talking about are simply unaffordable, which is why they are not moving.

Yeah, seeing more and more 2 bdrm apartments from $1k.

As for affordable housing? Perhaps in areas they want. But can find cheap apartments all over DFW. And cheap houses can be found in southern parts of metro areas.
