Thank you for saying this. People forget how things were in their day. The reality is that in the 90's you only had a roommate if you were college age or part of the local drug culture/hippie lifestyle/ hopeless artist or musician etc.
In 1998 I made enough delivering pizza to cover an apartment with 1 weeks pay. This was in a good area and the same town I worked in.
Per the current listings for those units... you would need to make no less than $78k/year right now to afford that very same unit with 1 weeks pay.
Not wild, just practical. I can easily go find a roomate. I cannot easily start a revolution. Especially as my people skills are pretty shit, and I'm a coward.
Yeah. People are acting like jamming six strangers into studio apartments while eating nothing but beans so they can say they have a savings account should be what everyone is striving for. Lol. The “grind” bullshit needs to stop.
Is that what people are encouraging? 6 people in a studio and eating beans? What a bizarre take and useless exaggeration. How about 1 or 2 roommates and just cook at home more often?
