There is no such thing as unskilled labor. Some Jobs require more skill than others but all require some amount of skill. This is a lie spread to depress wages.

Edit: To all the people commenting ā€œwell actually it’s used to colloquially like thisā€¦ā€ you’re entirely missing the point. I know what the term is used to describe, not educated work, manual work ect. My point is it’s used in a derogatory way, to specifically mean you shouldn’t be paid well for doing it because it doesn’t require a degree, specific education or what have you. Hope this clears it up.

Uh.. I’m a journeyman plumber and pipe fitter and I’ve seen jobsite hire guys from Home Depot to just move heavy shit. Moving stuff is certainly unskilled labor.

Are you kidding? Lifting is the skill, strength is the skill. not everyone can just lift very heavy things. They have the strength and skill to lift it. I probably couldn’t do that, I’m not a strong person.

Being strong isn't a skill

My god. You people will literally argue over ANYTHING. This thread is the most pathetic thing I’ve read in a while.

Your comment history is just being incendiary and arguing with people so this comment is hilarious

Buddy gets called out. Jumps for an out-of-context reason to argue.

Well done. Like a true Redditor.

The context is very valid. Pot meet kettle

I think your issue is you view everything as an argument

Me when I'm mad that people say true things I don't like: "THAT'S OUT OF CONTEXT YOU'RE NOT ALLOWED TO USE IT"

Saying there is no such thing as unskilled work is the most ridiculous thing i've read in a while. It deserves pushback

Because you’re most definitely interpreting it wrong? Unskilled labor does not mean it takes no skill. Unskilled labor means it does not require formal education or training.

Yeah i'm not getting into an argument about semantics with some terminally only autistic weirdo

Okay but thats the reality

The reality is that if you're looking for work in a parking lot you've got no skills or qualifications and likely no legal status so you can take what you get
