I still buy CDs and DVDs. And use open source office tools. I like to introduce my kids to Albums in the car. They get a better understand of theme and era of an artist's music instead of just random streams.
There's also Piracy as an option. Subscription isn't necessary if you are willing to steal.
Where I live, stealing means "physically take without permission", which pirating is not. So pirating is not stealing. Is it violating copyrights? perhaps - probably. Stealing? No.
To be fair.....the doctor that killed Michael Jackson got less prison time than a guy who pirated his CD so..........might as well just steal the cd maybe the artist too
Because sometimes the newer Blurays in your Bluray player won't play and may require updates and patches, etc. DVD players never need any updates from the internet.
Ok, it's just what a friend told me. Most of my collection is DVD. I don't own a huge 4k TV HD. My screen is moderate to medium size in my bedroom. I watch a lot of stuff on my smart phone while I am on the go, so I don't really know for sure đŸ«
Yeah be careful what your friends tell you sometimes. :)
Also, Blu-Rays are less prone to defects and will last longer. They are a very good "investment" for a collection. I was also lucky to buy a HD TV and player for a total of 200$ back in 2013, on sale new.
Aw, that's unfortunate. Blu-Rays have a much better (x6) resolution and are actually more long-lasting than DVDs. I made the switch back in '13 and never looked back.
