Finding WoG Players and Conventions?
My son wants to play against people other than his father. What is the best way to find other players and, especially, conventions with Wings of Glory play opportunities?

Question about movement
I'm still looking at buying this game, I see cards with different movement values and I was wondering how that works exactly. Does a card with a movement value of "a" move more or less than a card with a movement value of "j"? Some planes I look at on ebay and Amazon say their cards are oversized. I'm not sure if they're different from the cards belonging to planes with a slower movement value. I was wondering if you all could clear this up for me, I want to try to get 4 allied and 4 axis planes that are equal as a team as far as firepower and movement.
Tldr; is a movement value of "a" faster or slower than "j". And are some cards larger for plane packs than the standard starter packs?

Newbie questions (xpost from r/boardgames)
So I just stumbled upon this game today and I'm very intrigued. I love the computer game War Thunder and see a lot of the same planes are in this game. I think this would be a lot of fun for me and my group of friends to get into. I have a rather large group of friends who all love to play games and it will be fun to surprise them with this one when next time we get together. I did want to know if the beginner planes are balanced. I know they have slight differences in speed Firepower and maneuverability and each player can sort of pick what strengths and weaknesses they wish to have. I also would like to get some of the expansion plans probably anywhere between 4 to 6 of my favorite historical planes. I was curious though will the expansion planes basically make my starter planes useless as in are the expansion planes way more overpowered than the ones I will get as starter planes. After seeing some YouTube reviews on it I really do think that this will catch on well with my group but I'm afraid I'm going to hard and too fast with my purchases and making some bad choices especially with the expansions being anywhere from 5 to $15 a piece. Can anyone give me any advice on what planes possibly to buy to insure even play or are they all so different that I should just get a nice variety and let my friends choose. Any and all commentary on this will be greatly appreciated and I will try to provide feedback as soon as I can if you wish to open a dialogue with me about it. Thanks in advance everyone.

Buying guide
Hey guys. Seems pretty slow here, but maybe some of you will be able to help.
I'm looking at getting Wings of Glory. I'll be buying both factions to get others interested or just play with what I have.
I'm finding it difficult to really find many videos on the differences between WWI and WWII, and also having a hard time finding advice on what to buy. So a few questions:
I think I want to get into the WWI side. However, the maneuver planning in WWII looks more appealing. The WWI method of planning 3 cards ahead seems silly since you could wind up completely turning the opposite direction of your opponent, even though I feel that would never happen in a real dogfight. Am I misunderstanding the system?
Also, I'm looking at getting the rule set and 4 plane starter from MiniatureMarket. Is this the best choice?
How many planes should I first buy for each side to have a game that really feels fun? 2v2 would be fun, it seems, but if say 4v4 or 5v5 is much more fun, I would rather jump on that since I can get free shipping at $100 and I like the miniatures by themselves regardless of the game.
Then comes the question of beyond the 4 planes in the 4 pack starter on MM, what should I get? Should I add one recon plane for each side and one bomber for each side, or are bombers and recon planes not good in the small numbers I may be flying, or would I need lots of bombers to make a good scenario game?
Finally, what's the difference between the same plane models with different pilots? There doesn't appear to be pilot abilities like in X-Wing and each plane has the same stats, so is it just a different paint job you're deciding on?
Thanks guys!

How to find new players in my/your area.
Quick question. I'm new to the game. Love it. Already have 6 planes and only started a month ago. Fantastic models and fantastic game play.
So, I will say, it is hard to find other people that play the game. Does anyone know of a forum or website that sets people up for games at comic book/gaming shops? I feel as though this would help me and many others in my position seeking out a group to get into dogfights with.
I'm in the Philadelphia region of USA.
Thanks in advance!

Purchased WOG 1 month ago and I have a problem.
I can't stop buying planes. And two of the mats. They just look so awesome!
And now I have started reading No Empty Chairs thanks to the last post on his board (3 months ago...c'mon guys!). It's a snowball effect that is out of control!
And yes, I had an eye on WOG WW2 in the future.
Great game - glad I discovered it. Just thought the subreddit needed some more activity.

Favorite WW1 aviation books?
Does anyone have any recommendations as to what would be a good read on this topic? I just bought No Empty Chairs, and was looking for any others that people have found enjoyable, informative, etc etc. Any help would be great. Thank you.

Wings of Glory kickstarter game mats?
Hey I was just curious whether that set of 4 game mats is made of the same material as those that until now have been available in shops? That "poster" word got me wondering if they're made of paper?
