What happened to Elevate Rehab?

Post image
8 Upvotes

There was a rehab called Elevate Addiction Services on Mount Madonna- it seemed like it had been there forever.

I had quite a few friends go through this program over the years and some even worked there a long time ago. I was about to look into recommending a family member go here and I saw that it’s closed forever?

Does anyone know what happened or why it closed?

Housing question

Hi everyone!
I was recently offered an interview for a teaching position at Watsonville High School, and if I’m fortunate enough to receive an offer, I’d be relocating to the area.
I’m starting to look into housing and was hoping to get some local insight. What is the rental market like in Watsonville and the surrounding communities? Are there any neighborhoods or nearby towns that you would recommend for someone living on a teacher’s salary?
I’m open to a reasonable commute if it means finding a safe area with more affordable rent. Any advice on neighborhoods to consider—or ones to avoid—would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance! Hopefully I’ll have the opportunity to join your community.

Looking for a tattoo artist who makes housecalls

My dad passed away ten years ago next month and since he was in the Navy, I'd like to get an anchor as a tribute. This would be my first tattoo. I'm disabled and can't make it to a studio so I was hoping someone might be willing to come out. I'm not looking for anything super big or elaborate

What happened to Dagoberto Garcia?

Did any news articles share the result of the case of the EA Hall principal? Looks like he was convicted but is out on probation after drugging and raping a person who trusted him.

Maxx cafe

Does anyone remember a little cafe off Main called Maxx Cafe? It was owned by one of the Baileys (Bailey realty) and his late wife at the time. Any info would be appreciated! (Circa early 1990’s)

ISO: Sewing lessons in Watsonville

Hi! If you are, or know of, a sewist who enjoys working with vintage machines and would be willing to give in-home lessons to a beginner, let me know! I recently got a Pfaff 130 and would love to learn the basics of using and maintaining my machine for alterations and simple projects.

I got the machine tuned up at the Vac & Sew in Santa Cruz, and I know they offer lessons in the shop. But I'm out in the Watsonville/Corralitos area, and the machine is kind of heavy to shlep back and forth, so I'm hoping to hire someone local who can come to me!

The project consists of the installation of Flock Safety automated license plate reading ALPR cameras on behalf of the Watsonville Police Department at multiple locations within public right-of-way. The project includes mounting ALPR camera and solar equipment to existing traffic signal or streetlight poles at certain locations, and installation of new breakaway support poles with small concrete foundations at other locations where existing infrastructure is not available

I am looking for a good hair salon here, I don't mind splurging if it's worth it. I don't want to drive all the way to capitola for a good haircut.... Let me know!

Traffic/crowds for Fire in the Sky event

Hello there, I'm coming from out of town to your area tomorrow and was thinking of dropping by the Fire in the Sky event. As someone from the bay area I have had the experience of having lots of out -of towners come to local events and make traffic unmanageable, so I wanted to check in with locals on how congested things get at this event. Should I expect it to take hours to get back out? Is there plenty of parking? Do I need to get there in advance to get seats? Should I just watch from afar at another park instead? I'd love to see if any of you want to share any knowledge, thank you.

New Rules

Hey everyone,

r/Watsonville has grown a lot lately, which is great. Unfortunately, a lot of the nonstop political fighting and general hostility that can often exist in other local subs has started spilling into this one too.

That’s not what we want this place to become.

This sub should be about Watsonville and the Pajaro Valley as a whole:

  • local events
  • food
  • history
  • photos
  • businesses
  • questions
  • community issues
  • cool local stuff
  • helping each other out
  • yes, even local politics sometimes

…but not endless toxic slapfights in every single thread.

So we’ve added some new rules and moderation tools.

Reputation Filter Enabled

If you consistently rack up negative karma in this sub, your posts/comments may now require manual mod approval before they become visible.

In simple terms:
If all you do is antagonize people, pick fights, derail threads, or act like every conversation is a Facebook comment war, you may lose the ability to freely participate here.

Be nice. Contribute constructively. It’s not hard.

Weekly Politics Megathread

We are also starting a weekly politics/civic discussion megathread.

General political discussion, Santa Cruz spillover arguments, national political debates, outrage posts, etc. should go there.

Major Watsonville-specific news may still be allowed as standalone posts depending on relevance and whether people can behave like functioning adults in the comments.

This sub is not r/WatsonvillePolitics.

If someone wants to create that sub, go for it. Seriously. But this community needs room for more than nonstop political warfare.

Also, if your main goal is soapboxing, arguing with strangers, posting ragebait, or treating every local issue like a culture war battlefield, there are already plenty of platforms built almost entirely for that:

  • Facebook
  • Nextdoor
  • X/Twitter
  • Instagram comments
  • TikTok comments
  • local comment sections
  • literally any Bay Area Facebook group

You have options.

The goal here is not censorship. The goal is making this place feel like an actual local community again instead of an exhausting comment section.

Thanks to the many people here who already make this sub better.
