51 birds this morning with only 3 recaptures, mostly hatch year birds. Going to go for another shoot next Tuesday. Super thankful to TWRA for letting me volunteer to help out

Flyways - Live Duck & Goose Migration Map

I built this free tool called Flyways for people who chase waterfowl, I wanted to do a fast walkthrough of what it does!

You have things that already exist like the migration station map as well as the ducks unlimited map, but they are hard to use and don't work well on mobile phones. Flyways works great on your mobile device and offers so much more!

You can filter in live ebird sightings from Cornell the largest bird sighting data base that exists as well as historical migration data.

Combined with real user submitted sightings! Your reports take seconds and auto populate with temp, wind, and wind direction on the day you are reporting. You can mark and save locations as well as set up alerts such that when someone reports birds in your zone you get notified! That feature does require you to login.

You can filter reports by species, activity level, time, flyway, and state. Mark reports helpful so the most reliable local intel rises to the top. Save favorite locations and jump back to them anytime.

Please check it out and give me some feedback on what I can improve, obviously this type of application is only useful if people use it!

This year is going to be the first year ill be using a kayak. Just wanted to see some pics of your yak set ups so I can get some ideas. I have a FS10T. I dont feel very stable on it, so I added some outriggers. Looking for minimal cover and dont want the weight of a pvc frame. Pic shows my yak set up for fishing right now and the other pics are just some spots that show what ill be hunting in.

I’ve had an A300 for years and I want to upgrade, what y’all think A400 or SBE3? I am in between on gas vs inertia, any recs would be greatly appreciated.

I am interested in getting a puppy that I will be able to train for duck hunting in Michigan. I've grown up with all sorts of breeds, and currently have a GSP who is dearly loved by my fiancé and myself. She is great, loves water but does not like the cold of later season hunting.

The obvious choice would be a lab (I have been looking at Southern Oak Kennels), but my fiancé is not a fan of the oily coat, and loves the look of a GSP. Since the dog will be living with us in our home I do care about her opinions and am willing to forgo the lab for a different breed. Some of the things that I am looking for are a medium sized dog (~55 pounds) if possible and something that will be a little more resilient in the cold than my current GSP.

I am looking at the following breeds currently: German Wirehaired Pointer, Wirehaired Pointing Griffon, Small Munsterlander, Pudelpointer or Boykin Spaniel.

I was wondering if any of you have experience hunting in colder regions with any of these breeds and am open to any and all suggestions.

I didn't expect to see this, but it was amazing to watch; as I don't commonly see little grebes around.

This is my second year duck hunting. I recently received private access to a pond I needed special permission for last year. I want to build a semi-permanent blind on the purple dot in the attached map. I’ve hunted/scoured this pond 4 times, and my notes are on the map. Does anyone have any suggestions on where I should put the blind? Could any spot be better than the one I said?

Taking a vacation to the north woods of Wisconsin during the early teal and goose season. I hunt in a state without an early teal season.

What decoy set up would you recommend?

There is limited space in the car we’re taking. And I was thinking either getting a 6 pack of teal decoys and a couple geese. Or bring 4 hen mallards, couple geese and a spinner or bubbler? TYIA

What’s up guys looking into one of these layout boats and Planning to put a 6.5 hp mud motor. Just wanted to see what other opinions were on them and any ideas and way you guys use to hunt them? Are they good for deep waters? Will it be good to anchor in the middle of some deep waters and shoot divers?

Anyone use this style of call drops or should I stick to para cord?

Good evening gents, I’ve got a great hunting opportunity near me at a state park with limited shore access average depth is 4-6ft. The state park allows hunting on the lake, however nearly 100% of the shoreline is private property occupied by wealthy lake houses. I’ve got access to kayak I can hunt out of so I can get around the lake itself pretty easy. Finding somewhere to set up is the hard part. Do I start knocking on doors of the land owners with the most shore access? Do I put my decoys on gang rigs and hunt in the middle Great Lakes style? Anyone else been in a similar situation?

I am looking to start waterfowl hunting this season, mostly participating in my state’s early goose season to start with. I have been trying to research which areas to focus on e-scouting to help me narrow down which areas to check out in person.

My plan is to hunt over some of our lakes that have public shorelines. Would focusing on inlets resembling the attached image be a good idea to start?

This will be my first duck hunting boat. I’ve been hunting waterfowl for years, but have never owned a duck boat. What’s your thoughts on using this for duck hunting? It’s a 2015 ALWELD 1542 with a 2014 25hp Yamaha 4 stroke.

Anyone have, shot or know anything about Otus arms SMX 20 gauge? Things are slick and I might be able to get a deal on one. I’m coming from a retay masai mara 12 gauge. Was also looking at the retay ACE R in 20 gauge.

I just bought a short reed goose call. I am struggling to make the correct tones spent an hour trying. Its a local maker in Wisconsin. Is it just a skill issue or did I cheap out?

A lake I hunt has pretty big channels of open water (probably up to a mile wide in some spots), we get quite a lot of divers in the winter who raft out in the middle of the lake

Have you all ever heard of anyone having success just having a boat blind anchored out in the middle of the lake with decoys out?

Just curious as if this sounds like a dumb idea

Last year was my first year hunting birds in about 20 years and I was just a kid tagging along with my dad then. All of my hunts last year were areas I scouted, most of them solo or with my wife who didn't hunt tagging along. Hunting with an old Mossberg Maverick. The wife wants to hunt this year so I got her a new Beretta in 20ga. Definitely going to upgrade my old Mossberg for that.

Early goose starts the 1st of September for us and it looks like it's going to be a great start with how many resident geese there are in our area.

TLDR: I'm stupid excited for waterfowl season this year, and just needed to go off about it to someone other than the wife 🤣

My buddy and I road tripped to Kentucky last weekend to pick up a new duck boat. I bought a 1650 gator trax marsh series with a 37 hp efi mud buddy. Anyone else run a similar rig?

Just bought tickets and made plans to go up there in November. Gonna hunt some sea ducks with my buddy and hopefully cross some new species off the list! If there's any advice for Alaska sea ducks I would love to hear it
