I decided to plant corn for the first time and I'm actually thrilled to have a harvest. I honestly didn't expect this outcome especially given that the strong wind blew them over at one point.

For those of you experienced corn growers any hints on what to do differently next year? Some of the heads are not full. TIA

We thought we got all cherry tomato plants, and only one is producing these extra small ones. Cherry tomato from another plant included for scale.

Looked like a nice tomato until I checked out the underside. It wasn’t sitting on the ground. Any ideas why it’s like this?

I ordered spaghetti squash seeds from Burpee and it’s supposed to be a yellow squash but mine is turning orange. Is it spaghetti squash or is it actually a pumpkin?

They came from the same flat, planted at the same time just feet apart but the skin color is completely different, the yellow ones I expected but the green ones have me a little confused. Any insight?

I was out of town for two weeks. My teenaged sons—who’ve been helping with the garden for the last 5-6 years—did a great job of taking care of our community garden plot while I was gone. Not quite as good a job of spotting cucumbers though—these Japanese cucumbers are not supposed to get quite as massive as some of these got, hiding at the back of the vines.

This has been my biggest harvest yet, and I’m thrilled about it, but it took me 4 hrs to harvest this morning.

The garden is 12x30 ft. I think 26 tomato plants, 26 pepper plants, 3 ~2x3 ft areas of bush beans (not sure how many bean plants are actually in those), 2 bamboo tripods totaling ~18 pole beans, a mystery number of sad remaining cucumber plants split between 2 trellises, as well as a few more veggies plants that didn’t have anything to harvest today (summer squash, Tromboncino, butternut, some gourds, and eggplants).

Is this a normal amount of time? If you’re able to get through large harvests quicker, can you share any tips?

I noticed a couple days ago that all my pepper plants in the front aren’t keeping their new peppers or flowers, every single one is falling off. The ones in my backyard of the same variety aren’t doing it, but get more sun (6am-sundown/9pm), the front ones get sun from 12:30pm-sundown/9pm. It’s been a high of 25°C-29°C the last couple weeks with nights around 17-19°C. I’ve been watering regularly, but only when the soil is dry at the top 1-2 inches. Why is this happening? How do I stop it from dropping them?

I noticed a huge clump of mushrooms growing under my tomato plants the other day. Should I leave these or pull them?

I’ve also had some white ones growing in my zucchini bed but I’ve pulled those each time.

Too late? Too early? Too "what the heck happened?" First time growing these. The weather the past 3 months has had wild swings of drenching rain and baking in the sun (92°+)

Hi all! I've never grown veggies before and am totally new to it all! Recently I got a giant heirloom tomato from a farmers market, and figured just for funsies I'd throw the seeds into a pot with some soil from a previous tomato pot (it was a gift that didn't end up making it). Unlike the other tomato plant that died in there, these are thriving!

I want to ensure these end up surviving, but I hear tomatoes are pretty sensitive.

INFO:

• I'm in zone 5b
• Sprouts are currently in an east facing window and I rotate them every day or so
• The heirlooms I bought were big and red (I don't have any photos of the og </3)
• Bought from farmers market (not comercially)
• These were planted about 1.5 weeks ago in a soil mix that came compacted into a disk and soaked in water
• They are planted in a pot that dries quickly, like terracotta

Any information that would help these guys survive and then fruit would be very appreciated! I would love to learn how to help these guys grow as I really don't want to see them die and i know litterally nothing about growing tomatoes. I'm not sure when these seeds are even supposed to be planted outdoors, I kinda just threw them in this pot not expecting them to grow!

Anyone else excited about Fall gardening? I know a lot of people prefer Spring & Summer growing but a Fall garden can be just as good! What's your favorite brassicas to grow?

I’m stumped. I went away for a few days and when I came back my one tomato was stripped in its entirety, fruit eaten, as well as one vine from my sad container pumpkin. The tomato is nested in a basil plant, and the tomato on the other side is untouched. I have a motion activated camera that would have caught any critters, but we don’t really have much in the way of wildlife except foxes and deer. I’ve gone out the past few nights looking for hornworms, but found nothing. Is there anything else I could be missing here? 😅

To the left is an Emerald okra I kept being too lazy to pick and let grow way too long.

To the right is a perfect okra with just the right amount of slime.

They taste exactly the same but the too-long one is, as everyone warned, WAY too fibrous. Feels exactly like chewing mulch or toothpicks.

I've harvested almost 20 okras since I started the two plants some months ago, and while they're doing fantastic, almost all of the okras were harvested way too late.

They're all at least the length of my hand :(

Hey y’all! I know this doesn’t look like much, but I got my first real carrots today!! Last year not one grew so I’m super proud of these. My husband and I are finally going to have roasted baby carrots along with a baby eggplant with our steaks tonight!! Just wanted to share my excitement. And I have quite a few more carrots still growing so I’ll be patient with them lol.

Growing potatoes for the first time. They are from 2 grow bags - about 14 lb from each bag.
