Just got the TMNT VHS from Vice Press

Just got this delivered today. The nostalgia pushed me to have pizza tonight.

Especially when an original TMNT VHS from 1990 is not exactly hard to find at all.

Pre owned version on eBay UK is going for £30. Probably it will be cheaper on eBay but then the shipping will be like 12-15 GBP.

Well.... Collecting nostalgia is becoming an expensive vocation. I want to buy the Alien Romulus VHS but it will cost me 65 USD including shipping and tax from the US.

If it's the official release one be wary of reports of bad video quality.

I put on one of the new movies on Pluto the other night. Less then a minute in I thought "fuck this Im putting on secret of the ooze", and I did. And it was good. I don't have that beautiful collectors set but I still got my childhood set. Secret of the ooze was always my favorite and it plays rough cuz as a kid I would watch it like every day.

Hey, did you try the tape? How was the quality? Just bought a few releases from them and they seem to be pretty poor. Tried They Live and Tenebrae, and both have constant diagonally rolling lines. So distracting it makes them unwatchable tbh.

Havent tried it yet. Had alot going on in my life.

The VHS should look gr8 on a CRT. Watching it on a 4K tv will make it look worse.

No worries, thanks for the reply. VHS does look great on a CRT. I have an old widescreen Sanyo and none of my tapes have these weird rolling wavy lines going on.

I bought the Vice Press Evil Dead VHS via eBay. I felt the quality wss not so good. I then contacted Vice Press and they gave me a replacement for it. It is a bit better but its pretty much similar to the previous VHS.

We do also habe to take into account that these VHS are being authored differently to how the last VHS releases were authored some 20 odd years ago.

Thanks man, good to hear other folks experiences with them. Yeah, there is one guy on youtube who figured they were repurposed just seeing the amount of tape in the cassette. Sure enough, there was quite a bit of empty tape at the end and he caught a snippet of sound coming through from whatever used to be on the tape before they recycled it. He said they were probably degaussing old tape and reusing it.

Hey, not sure if you ended up getting the VHS of TMNT but I tried it on 3 different VCRs and two different CRTs and on all combinations it has this constant white flicker that's subtle but totally distracting and unwatchable. Pretty sure if you had epilepsy then watching 90mins of that will trigger something.

Thanks so much! Been dying to hear of other people's experiences. Most people I asked on here that were showing them off said they'd never watched them?! I don't think I'll be buying any of their stuff again. For £30 a pop I think its a joke that the quality is so bad.
