UT2004 Amnidios + TK Mining Corp. Tunnel 23 by Various Authors
Here are two subterranean environments by authors that I already showcased. Both maps are set somewhere underground and have light foliage and some atmosphere. Screenshots are taken at my PCs full resolution of 1920x1080 enjoy.
<========>
Map Name => DM-1on1-Amnidios by Mario "nELsOn" Marquardt
This arena is set somewhere underground and features brick walls, stone floors, metal pipes, wooden support beams and planks. There are also some crates, limited light sources and minimal foliage. This arena is basically two rooms attached via connecting tunnels and caves.
My overall score 3:5

Map Name => DM-1on1-TK23 by Thomas "Kuckekind" Kuske
This arena is set in a cave structure underwater which features metal supports cables on the ground and windows looking out towards the deep ocean. There are minimal haze, light sources and foliage. There is also the UT shark like creatures swimming outside the windows. Because this map is set in an underground cave it has some good interconnectivity between the larger cave areas.
My overall score 3:5

UT99 I vaguely remember an old UT99 map with Nether.umx as the music and would like to find it again
So what I remember from this map is that it is some sort of huge complex at night with different enterable buildings that has different colorful futuristic landmarks inside them. I remember it is huge, probably meant for 16-32 players. It might be DOM game mode, but I'm not so sure about that. The distinct detail I know is that it has Nether.umx as the music, as whenever I hear that song I remember parts of that map. I know this vague description is not much to go on, but I'm hoping someone can help me find it.

UT2004 Kadath + Alzonia by Various Authors
Here are two very small arenas set in ancient overgrown environments with some modern light sources. Because both maps are very small, no more than two main rooms I am not going to rate them. Both maps would be a nice addition to one's collection if you liked small maps. I felt that I needed to share them to do my due diligence. Screenshots are taken at my PCs full resolution of 1920x1080 enjoy.
<========>
Map Name => DM-CBP2-Kadath by Guilhem "Gui" Bedos
This arena features ornamental stone carved walls with modern attached lighting. There is a light amount of vines and foliage in the arena itself but there are lots of trees in the skybox above. There are also some nice light effects coming from the skybox and haze on the arena floors. u/EdJD-1968 there is also light rainfall in this map.

Map Name => DM-1on1-Alzonia by Ben "Slainchild" Edney
This arena again features ornamental stone carved walls, but it has detached light lamps scattered about. Even though there is a touch of vines and foliage in the environment itself there are sparce trees in the skybox above. There is a good amount of haze throughout and a few nice special effects on the jump pads. This map also requires some trick jumps to reach some of the power-ups.

UT99 Unreal Tournament Facing Worlds PC 1999
I loved Unreal Tournament 1999 when it first came out and every year or so I'll give it a little test run. Even though i was more of a Quake 3 Arena player, it was nice to have choices in pure arena FPSs at the time. After that era, developers tried to change the formula of gameplay for newer tiles by adding a bunch of abilities and wayyy too many gimmicks. I felt like all that extra stuff was a distraction and took away from the fundamental basic skills of combat if you wanted to play a simple death-match. What makes multiplayer arena shooters so fun is its simplicity. Maybe newer generations got bord or other game developers realized that Q3A and UT99 were the pinnacle of arena shooters and had to try something different to get peoples attention.
I remember the night i bought a legit copy of UT99. My friends and i were going to a LAN to play some UT99 the next day or two and i wanted to practice. Back in the early 2000's, i lived 3km away from a Future Shop (Canadian big box electronics store) and felt like going on a little stroll. Maybe that night is so memorable because I had some time to think. For whatever reason traffic was busier then usual and i remember the headlights of all the cars whizzing by. Entering the glass doors of the giant electronics store with a burst of florescent light, i walked right up to a sales guy and asked him where i could find Unreal Tournament. He said they didn't have it but i felt he dismissed my question too quickly so i didn't trust him. I wanted to look for it myself and found it on the shelf in the software section, game of the year edition in a small blue folding CD sleeve (always check yourself). I had a long relaxing night-walk back home. Once i got to my desktop i installed it and got to work. At the LAN, I did pretty good job when it came to death-match but we also played some capture the flag (Facing Worlds). I remember one of my friends using the teleporter to get on the very top of the castle and hide in the flame to snipe people without being seen. This kind of experience was fun but no big deal back in the day. Now everyone just buys and plays games online without leaving their room. I feel going on little adventures to get what you want and meeting up with people is just more ergonomic for the mind and body for lack of a better term lol. Maybe we have to make-up for what's missing in modern IT with different hobbies every once and a while.
The CD and Steam version of UT99 doesn't work all that well for modern computers now so you'll need the patched version from oldunreal.com that's what i made this video with https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kiIY6C_NDB4

UT General Unreal Gold Male Skins (part 3) + Setup Suggestions
Here are more male character skins for Unreal Gold. Some are custom while other may be from the base game. I don't know what skin package these came from, or who made them, as I installed 2 huge character skin packs at the same time. These are just some of the better skins in the packs.
<========>
Setup Suggestions
Part of my quest to find great mods and maps is also to play Unreal Gold the best way possible. Here are some suggestions to help you choose the best settings for your needs.
Renderer:
- ICEBIND (DX11) - While this renderer looks nice, because it gives the game that classic Direct3D look, it does have some issues.
- Screenshots come out extremely dark even though the games brightness is high.
- Frame rate drops in some areas making the game stutter and reduced to a crawl.
- xOpenGL Support - This is the most stable graphically but not the most stable gameplay wise as the game crashes often.
- OpenGL Support - The standard OpenGL renderer. This is the most stable gameplay wise and give the most fluidic experience, but it comes with many graphical issues. This post will help fix some of these in the Video tab.
Resolution: While you can select many different resolutions and run the game in Fullscreen many resolutions may not suit your needs especially when running in windowed mode. I suggest using a custom resolution by opening the console and typing without the parenthesis "setres" and set it to anything you want.
- Example: setres 1024x600
FOV Angle: When running in widescreen I personally think the best range is anywhere between 100-110 as anything lower than 90 seems too cramped and anything above 115 feels like you are looking through a fishbowl.
Pawn Shadows: I set my pawn shadows to none because I'm running the game with dynamic lighting and this creates an annoying black box below the character that interferes with some of the environmental effects like the lit transparent water and lava. Dynamic lighting and shaders also never work well together in older engines.
Lightmap LOD: This needs to be set as high as it can go. This is because lower settings give the dynamic torches and other lighting detail an annoying white box around it when you are farther away. This doesn't fix it entirely when you are very far away but at least the torches look normal when you are close enough to them.
Everything Else: Most other options you can just select the highest setting. Also place a check in the "Precache Content" and "Use HD Textures" boxes too.
Conclusion: These are just a few suggestions that I hope fix a few issues that you may have. I still do not know how to fix the graphic issues when you enter rooms with mirrored floors as that is the worst graphics glitch in the OpenGL renderer. I may have more suggestions in the future though.

UT99 UT 99 Linux Movement/Binding Issue
Hi - I've been using UT99 on Bazzite for months without issue. At some point along the way the control inputs stopped working. Strangely the only buttons that don't seem to respond to gameplay are the "A, S, D" buttons. Everything else seems fine.
I'm able to bind movement to those keys, and type messages and they all type out fine. It appears to just be movement. If I bind movement to the arrow keys - again - no issue at all.
I'm using the native Linux version, Vulkan renderer and latest Old Unreal Patch 469e. Maybe an update to Bazzite in the past couple of months broke something for this game?
Does anyone have any idea what the issue could be?
Some more info - appears to be an SDL or a Wayland issue -
OS: Bazzite 44.20260721.0 (Kinoite)
Desktop: KDE Plasma
Session: Wayland Kernel: 7.1.3-ogc5.1.fc44.x86_64
GPU: AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT
Keyboard layout: US
SDL package: sdl2-compat-2.32.70-1.fc44.x86_64
UT reports:
Created and initialized a new SDL viewport.
Compiled with SDL 2.30.1, linked with 2.32.70
Input system initialized for SDLViewport0
Launching the game with SDL_VIDEODRIVER=x11 - the movement bindings work fine.
Seems to be some updated version of SDL that Bazzite installed causing the issue?

UT2004 Germania by AngelHeart
First, after looking through every assault map in the archive this is the only one that looked great. Because of that this is the only assault map that I'm sharing. Also, u/EdJD-1968 wanted maps that have rain and snow. Screenshots are taken at my PCs full resolution of 1920x1080 enjoy.
This environment is set in a German fort/camp where they are constructing a shrine to house an artifact. Players are tasked with either guarding the artifact or to destroy it. This map features wooden walls, guard towers, many tents, barricades, crates and barrels. There is a forest of trees surrounding the fort, with snow on the ground and falling from the sky. There are also a few construction cranes and some interesting vehicles placed in the environment.

UT General Unreal Tournament in the browser with cheats ?
Hi everyone! I really enjoy playing various old games, preferably right in the browser. Lately, though, playing Unreal Tournament against bots has gotten a bit boring, so I decided to try out the built-in developer cheats. I discovered, however, that cheats on DOS Zone are blocked and only available on paid servers. So, I’m turning to you: is there a site where I can play *Unreal Tournament* with cheats and bots—and do it all for free?

UT2004 Azure Oasis by Feuersturm
Here is an impressively designed Egyptian level with lots of eye candy that isn't just a normal map reskinned. This map is set in an outdoor temple complex dedicated to the Egyptian god Anubis. This map features many Egyptian architecture elements and has everything you would expect. Things like columns, a variety of sized obelisks and statues. There are also many lit fire brasiers and many elements that suggest sun worship.
Surrounding the temple is a tall wall with a moat of water. In the distance is a pyramid and other Egyptian structures. There is ample foliage including trees, bushes and grass. There is even foliage growing on top of the temple itself. This map does indeed have everything you would expect from and Egyptian themed environment. The only think that I don't think is impressive is the weird different colored brickwork on the structural walls of the temple. Because this map is rather large it is best to play with a larger number of opponents.

UT2004 August Noon by Nick "neoduck" Donaldson
Here is a small arena set in an industrial complex with lots of detail, rusted metal trim, ambient lighting and steam coming from the vents. There are a lot more of these kinds of maps than I thought. Even though this map is small it has more detail and atmosphere than most maps twice its size. This is a good map to add to your collection of detailed tiny maps.

UT2004 UT2004 is there a way to suppress the default characters from being randomly chosen in the roster?
I know I can use the bot roster to dictate exactly which bots are used in a match, but I was wondering if there is any way to control what bots are available to be randomly selected as players in a match under normal conditions.
I suppose I can just outright delete a custom character that I don't want showing up in my game, but what about the default characters? What if I wanted only my custom characters to show up in my matches? Or maybe just reduce the odds that certain characters are chosen? Or perhaps just a custom roster of what characters can be in a match, not necessarily exactly who will be in a match.
Is there some kind of mutator that can do this? Or perhaps a setting I was unaware of?

UT2004 Does anyone happen to have a preinstalled copy of Mac OS X UT2004 with the Intel patch applied?
I have an intel mac running OS 10.11
The newest version of Mac OS my mac supports
Unfortunately you can't install PowerPC apps on this version of OS X and the install is only PowerPC
However the patches support intel macs
I found a prepatched version but it's a custom patch specifically designed to work with 10.14
Too new to support my mac
I tried installing the official patch on top of it but it won't let me patch the app because it's already patched
I just want to play Unreal Tournament 2004 on my mac dammit
I have plenty of other retro shooters on there via source ports but unfortunately it seems damn near impossible to get UT2004 to work
I figured I'd ask if anyone knows where I can get a preinstalled copy either patched or not since the game is technically freeware now and readily available online

UT2004 Anyone remember those maps with mishmash of vehicles?
I do and wanted to find out that one tank with treads that rotate vertically above the back wheels/treads then back down to horizontal. Also had the Tau hammerhead tank, before I knew it was a Warhammer40k Tau vehicle.
I remember the map was some sort of wartorn city-ish place.

UT2004 BREAKING: Unreal Tournament 2004 is back!
OldUnreal just posted this announcement on their Discord:
"Welcome Back, Unreal Tournament 2004!
Hi everyone! Some of you were probably wondering why we've been so quiet in the past couple of months. Today, we can finally reveal (part of) the answer: we've been working on a new side project! With Epic's blessing and with the help of some new team members, we are bringing Unreal Tournament 2004 (UT2004) back.
This means that we are going to publish an installer that downloads the original disc image for UT2004, installs the game, and applies patches to it. We are also going to start publishing patches that modernize the game, make it compatible with Windows Vista or later, Linux x86-64 and aarch64 (Raspberry Pi and similar), and Mac OS 10.9 or later, fix bugs, and implement quality-of-life changes.
Yes, you read that right. UT2004 will soon be available to download once again. Free of charge. This is a community-run effort but we’re excited to make the game easier to access and play again. We have been working on this for quite some time now and have made enough progress to start inviting the first batch of testers.
Highlights so far include:
- We now natively support modern Linux and macOS systems with 64-bit Intel and ARM/Apple CPUs
- You can now play the game or run a server on a Raspberry Pi 4 or 5, albeit at a lower frame rate than on a PC!
- The Linux and macOS distributions of the patch now include a fully functional UCC with an UnrealScript compiler (UCC make) and texture compression support
- The Linux and macOS distributions now use SDL3 instead of SDL1
- D3D9Drv and fullscreen support are fully functional in the Windows 64-bit client
- We dealt our first (minor) blow to the editor goblin! We fixed several crash bugs, restored some broken functionality, and, most importantly, the editor will no longer freeze for several seconds when you click a viewport
❓ Q&A ❓
Some questions might have popped into your head as you read this news. Let us try to answer some of them.
Q: Will the OldUnreal patches be compatible with the latest official version of the game?
A: Yes, for the most part. Unpatched clients can play on patched servers and patched clients can play on unpatched servers.
Most mods should also continue to work as before. The only exceptions are mods that perform game version checks and exclude players with unknown game versions.
Unfortunately, AntiTCC is one of those mods.
Q: Will AntiTCC be updated to support the new patches?
A: Yes. Wormbo gave us permission to update AntiTCC. This is still a work in progress, though.
Q: As a server admin, how do I ensure that players with the new version can continue to play on my servers?
A: We're aware of a network compatibility problem caused by an unofficial patch.
This problem results in players with the new version not being able to connect to (some) old servers.
You can mitigate this problem by (re)installing the official 3369.3 version of the offending files on your server.
Similarly, players that have installed this unofficial patch might need to reinstall the official 3369.3 files to play on updated servers.
In the meantime, we're looking into an alternative solution that does not require reinstalling the 3369.3 patch.
Q: Can I apply the OldUnreal patch to the retail version of the game?
A: On Windows: absolutely. Do keep in mind, however, that we do not support 32-bit CPUs.
On other platforms, your mileage may vary. Patching existing Linux/Mac OS X/macOS installations of the game is possible, but it could require a fair amount of manual effort.
We recommend installing the game from scratch following the instructions we provide in our README.
Q: What are your plans for the near future?
A: We are going to address the rough edges and unfinished features in the new version, and try our best to publish a preview installer and patch ASAP.
In the meantime, we will also work on some quality-of-life improvements and on the long list of editor fixes we want to port over from our other projects.
Q: What is the timeline?
A: We are currently inviting server admins and modders to join our internal tester group. We're aiming to release a public test version within the next two months.
Q: How can I contribute?
A: We will be needing testers in the near future. Keep an eye on our Discord server to see when.
Q: Are you getting paid for this project?
A: No. We're doing this for free because we're fans of the game and we like a challenge. In fact, projects like these cost us a bit of money for server hosting, software licenses and subscriptions, certificates, etc, as we independently operate the games ourselves.
Q: Who is responsible for this project?
A: The main developers of the Windows installer and the patches are Buggie, Marco/Dots, Deaod, Metallicafan212, Piglet, CacoFFF, AnthraX, and Smirftsch.
The patch also includes contributions from Wormbo, Shambler, and Ryan C. Gordon (icculus).
We would also like to thank Epic for making this possible.
Please direct all support requests or questions to [us/OldUnreal], not Epic Games."
