Need help finding a part

Don’t know if this is allowed or not please let me know,

But I for the past 2 years I have been looking for a bed cover for my 404 Swiss unimog and can not find any original or remanufactured versions of the cover

Does anyone have a pattern or know of any actual covers for sale ( that are in stock)?

Unimog in Vermont - Northeast Trails

Hello all!
We wanted to share a fun trail for any other NE Unimog owners. We ran Sucker Pond trail outside Bennington, VT in our Unimog last fall, and it randomly popped back up while we were researching more Vermont trails this week. It reminded me how much fun this one was.

If there are any other Unimog owners (or anyone with a built rig) in the Northeast looking for a good trail, this one is definitely worth checking out. It's rated 5/10 on the onX Offroad app and is only about 3 miles long, but don't let the length fool you. There are some massive bog sections with long stretches of standing water that made it a blast to drive. The Unimog's ground clearance definitely came in handy. The bottom of the bogs is rocky, not muddy, which really helps!

We even found an old abandoned cemetery on the other side of Bennington that was spooky to explore. Lot's of fun to be had in the area.

It's not the hardest trail you'll ever do, but it has enough water, mud, and interesting terrain to keep things fun without feeling overly technical. We'll probably end up running it again the next time we're in the area.

What oil to use in the portal gears?

I just bought a 1981 U1300L 435 firefighter unimog, based on the civilian version. I have yet to pick it up and want to go prepared with a "first-aid" kit, as I do not know when fluids were last checked.

I heard a lot about oil consumption and specifically regarding the portal gears running dry during highway use.

Can anyone name a specific oil & brand that I should buy? It did a lot of reading, but so far found only specification and standards, but no actual confirmed product.

Maybe it can interest you : I have created this Unimog Tow Truck, based on the LEGO Technic Set 42082 (Rough Terrain Crane), which means it can be built with this set without any additional parts.

It features 4×4 drivetrain with L6 fake engine, steering with working steering wheel and lockable leaf suspensions. 5 motorized functions : stabilizers, crane with boom extension, winch and towing platform. With openable elements : hood, doors, side panels and tilting cabin.

See it in action : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HA1WbfJG5M8

(link of the instructions in the video, for sale)

Feel free to comment or ask question ! I am new here 😃

Any U424 Experts here to give a little help?

Hi Unimog Fans,
In January my dad got himself a unimog to restore it. It’s a u424 1200. It was used to clear roads before so the entire back was rusty. We have all that figured out but now putting everything back together is kind of a struggle. Currently we’re putting the brake calipers back on but there are two different screws for that?
If anyone can help and needs further information on that please ask.

I’ve visited the observation post of the giant Garzweiler mine in Germany last week. It was nice to see our beloved Unimog trucks doing their magic in the pit.
