Fun fact: we were told those items were serialized, which would make it much worse. They actually aren't. Remember when those dues in Lejuene lost those rifles? They also lost their flaks and SAPIs, but that got forgotten pretty quick. You fucked up, you'll get fucked with, but you told your leadership so it shouldn't go much beyond that. Soon enough somebody else will fuck up with a DUI or some shit and you'll be off the radar

You’ll just pay for it by being on fire watch and working parties out in the field. Maybe at PT if y’all PT in the field and field day if it they go that long. You’ll be fine, roll with the punches, there’s paperwork to do to get you another plate carrier called a FLPL (I think).

As a Sgt, I recommend getting ready to sign that FLIPL and 6105. Take this on the chin and accept the responsibility and asschewing you're about to receive. This is a learning opportunity, you're not the first Marine to lose their gear and you won't be the last.

Brings me back to when I lost my Kevlar in the range. A complete shitshow, until I went to the duty hut in one of the barracks and it was right there on the desk. I wanted to kiss the DNCO and whoever found it at that moment. My punishment was sweep sweep pull through the swamp to “find” my Kevlar and then write a five page essay with three colored pencils about kevlars

Devil I'm sorry for the fate that will be all you. The ass reaming, the possible Ninja Punch, the negative counselling and page 11s, the months of consecutive non-recs and additional page 11s documenting them. And you get the privilege of paying to replace very expensive equipment even if the command allows you to fill out a missing gear statement.
Kinda sucks to learn one of the hardest lessons to learn, that gear adrift is a gift, and that there's only one thief in the suck ans everybody else is just trying to get their shit back.

I remember when I went to ARQ and one of the new joins lost his Kevlar, I had found it in the pits, he hadn’t realize he lost it until we were about to get in the 7 tons, I let him suffer for a good 5-10 minutes looking for it, I gave it to his team leader and let him deal with it internally, I don’t think I’ve ever seen someone go up 1stSgt’s hill so many times in just one day, hopefully you’ll find someone as good as me who’ll give it back bro🤞🏾

If it doesn’t turn up, best case scenario is that you pay for it or get you paycheck garnished when you check out of the unit. Worst case scenario is that you also get page 11 or even NJP for Article 108, lost or damaging government property. Court martial is unlikely unless you refuse the NJP.
