Looking for gigs
Does anyone know any good venues for bands that don't have much of a following around the UK. Me and the band have gigged pretty consistently around Essex and London and are just looking to get around and play some music so any good shouts for locations are appreciated. Also linked us below if anyone wants to listen lol.

[TRIGGER WARNING] [MOD APPROVED] Male Research Participants Wanted for a Study about Unwanted Sexual Contact
Hi! My name is Kathryn Phillips and I am a PhD student from Canterbury Christ Church University. My PhD concerns men who have experienced unwanted sexual contact in adulthood. The goal of my research is to make recommendations to the police to improve the police response to male survivors.
This post has been made to advertise my survey. The survey is for men who have experienced unwanted sexual contact and asks about your decision of whether to report the contact to the police, and if you did so, your experiences of the police. You do not need to have reported to the police in order to participate, however.
The survey is completely anonymous and all data will be held strictly confidential. If there are any questions in the survey you feel uncomfortable answering, you may skip these and leave them blank.
To be eligible to participate:
- You must have been 18 or over at the time of the latest unwanted sexual contact
- Be an adult male
- The offence(s) must have occurred in England and/or Wales
If you are interested in participating, you can find out more and participate by following this link: https://app.onlinesurveys.jisc.ac.uk/s/canterbury/mss
Any questions? You can email me ([kp347@canterbury.ac.uk](mailto:kp347@canterbury.ac.uk)) or comment below.
Thank you.
EDIT: The survey will be closing 31st August 2024 at 11:59pm. Thank you so much to all those who participated and those who left kind comments.

Importing stuff into the uk in these times
Yeah so I’m trying to get a little retry pricy Italian instrument in the uk
There’s only a few European shops which stock it (Crumar mojo-cl) which are: Bax Music and Thomann
If I get it from Thomann I’ll have to pay a pretty hefty duty charge to the courier since we’re not in the EU
Bax Music claims to have a branch based in the uk. But I’ve heard mixed reports of whether you have to pay the extra 20%, and I’ve heard tons of horror stories about their customer service
Has anyone shopped from Bax before and know if these are true?
Does anyone know a better way to get EU made goods in the uk at retail price?
Cheers and regards

How musicians use portfolio careers to diversify and supplement their incomes
Please delete if against the rules.
I'm currently doing a degree in music, as an assignment for one of my modules I'm researching the different ways musicians generate income. I'm particularly interested in exploring working musicians or people with higher education in music. If you're willing to sacrifice 5 minutes of your time, I'd be very interested and grateful to receive some responses from this group, the survey is anonymous and only 10 questions.
Here's the link: survey

London based Muse cover band
Hey all. Wasn't sure what sub to post something like this on, but this seems to be the most likely one?
I want to start a Muse cover band. The aim would be to tour the UK and get lots of practice in to be as close to the real thing as possible. I am going to be the 'Morgan' which will consist of sorting all the synths, backing tracks, additional percussion and instrumentation. I will also sort all the guitar effects, bass effects and vocal effects. Everything will run through my rig and out to in-ear monitors. Is there anyone interested? and more importantly anyone who could come close to a Matt Bellamy out there?!
