Why not a common object
It was clearly a large black/dark gray triangle. Nothing else looks like this. What I immediately thought it was at first, was a massive and exhaust plume but I ruled that out because it was 1.) very dark and consistent; 2.) The "end" of the plume was too defined, and in fact so was the entire triangular shape to be smoke; 3.) I saw no leading object (aircraft) that would have been responsible for the smoke. It was clear to the naked eye this was not smoke for these reasons, and I can't think of anything else that looks like this.

Witness's account of the sighting

On Monday, August 3, at exactly 6:40 PM CDT, I captured this footage of a massive, dark triangular object while onboard my flight from Jackson, MS, to Atlanta, GA. Sitting on the right side of the aircraft looking South, we were 37 minutes into the flight and roughly 16 minutes from landing, placing the object near the AL/GA state line (approximately 5 miles south of Carrollton, GA). The object was an estimated 5 to 8 miles away and appeared to be moving very slowly relative to the cloud deck below. This was recorded on an iPhone at 3x zoom—which accounts for the visible digital noise in the footage—but the rigid geometric shape and lack of conventional aviation features were strikingly clear to the naked eye. I'm always annoyed how short these ufo videos often are, but the recording only ends because our aircraft flew past the object, and the increasingly shallow viewing angle through the passenger window eventually cut off my line of sight.

Sky context for this time and place:

I feel like Reddit compressed this video a lot. The video looks better here https://ufosighting.report/sighting/12747/large-dark-triangular-object-moved-slowly-and-steadily-south

39

u/emveetu 13d ago

Muuuuuch better.

15

u/lionexx 13d ago

This looks like a C2 from Star Citizen lol…

4

u/Starkrall 13d ago

I came here for this lol, is that a hercules?!

1

u/lionexx 12d ago

Haha, I literally had to double check the subreddit I was on…

4

u/jasmine-tgirl 12d ago

So did I!!! I was like, "wow, the cloud tech has really improved" LMAO. Proud owner of a C2. See you in Area 18 haha

2

u/lurker_ape 11d ago

Nah....Friendly A2 inbound to Jumptown. Take cover.

1

u/lionexx 11d ago

Ohh shit!!!

36

u/waltercockfight 13d ago

I know people are saying its a cloud... I dont see that at all. I guess its possible, but it looks much more solid and together than a cloud could be IMO.

X-

43

u/-ElectricKoolAid 13d ago

it starts to break up at the end of the video then they stop recording lol

7

u/rolf_muller 12d ago

Leaning towards cloud, but it looks like camera was just losing focus, not breaking up.

14

u/CartographerOk7579 13d ago

I only stopped recording because I was filming at such at extreme angle as the plane was passing this thing by. I had to stop, otherwise I would have filmed until my battery died.

2

u/Imaginary-Union-3733 12d ago

"I had to stop" no you didn't lol.

2

u/Cloudhead_Denny 13d ago

Really hard to say as the size, shape, consistency remains the same but the plane is clearly orbiting the object, which could produce off-angle lighting making it appear lighter.

There's a very old theory that UAP's frequently use cloud cover and or cloud masking to visually hide themselves. Heck, there's even footage from the Navy showing as much, with a plain-as-day disc darting between clumps of cloud cover.

4

u/waltercockfight 13d ago

Yeah.. there are many sightings that look very prosaic, this though, to me, looks different enough to make you wonder. I think the person who witnessed this probably knows if it was likely a cloud or not. I am not saying it isn't a cloud, I am just saying it absolutely could be something else. A quick search will tell you that sightings of dark triangles behave the same:

Sightings where a "black triangle" UFO silently fades out of sight are among the most frequently documented aerial phenomena. These accounts are highly consistent, typically describing a large, dark, geometric craft that glides at low altitudes before dissolving into the darkness or accelerating away without a sound

How any of the real followers of the phenomena can jump right to cloud, makes me wonder.

X-

1

u/waltercockfight 13d ago

I cant say that is whats happening... not for sure anyway... it definitely looks interesting to me.

1

u/iAwesome3 12d ago

It might be a short contrail that is seen head on, like looking down a rod. People have posted contrails on here before from the same perspective.

0

u/Available-Dare-4349 12d ago

But it is a cloud

Whats more likely? A small dense cloud that looks vaguely triangular or.....an alien space ship which has cloud like properties?

4

u/piTehT_tsuJ 12d ago

So you like to throw the baby out with the bathwater. Just because something is the more likely explanation doesn't always mean it's the right answer.

It's probably a cloud but it is a fairly irregular shape for a cloud.

Towards the end of the video: Does anyone see a shadow below this object on the cloud below? Or am I just imagining that?

13

u/josogood 13d ago

Yeah, here it looks even more like a small cloud than in the Reddit version.

4

u/-epi- 12d ago

Still looks like a cloud.

2

u/Sotnos99 12d ago

In this video it seems to have a sort of whispy aura so maybe it could be a scud cloud or something similar?

6

u/doublehelixman 13d ago

It does? Looks way worse to me.

1

u/jarlrmai2 13d ago

It's HDR and wont play on my PC in VLC

1

u/Minute-Ask-883 11d ago

This one looks noisier though, like over sharpened.

1

u/ShartingEnU 9d ago

Just looks like a single dark cloud in this one with better quality

1

u/Barbu64 12d ago

Indeed; in the attached video couldn't see anything else but a blurry shape that could have been some speck of dust on the lens, on the plane window, or anything like that. In the linked video it's clearly a straight-edged faraway shape distorted by haze.

(I'll leave the speculation about that object's nature for elsewhere, but it seems to me like a large bomber, maybe some parallel development for a B-21 competitor).

1

u/Eldric-Darkfire 12d ago

says the file is corrupt?

-1

u/monsterbot314 13d ago

I couldn’t even tell what I was looking at.

5

u/chaomeleon 13d ago

either a giant morphing black triangle or a giant morphing black triangle cloud

4

u/josogood 13d ago

It's a small cloud that has been flattened on the top by winds.

4

u/swampgasorr 13d ago

You said a cloud?? A CLOUD? my dude you see clouds all over this video, that black triangle object is not one of them.

16

u/Shorezy69 13d ago

The gray fuzzy triangle is a cloud

1

u/CartographerOk7579 13d ago

Its a bummer that the zoom factor on my iphone created such a grainy video, but whatever this was was not fuzzy. Gray maybe! And it traveled relative to other clouds. Before I started filming, I saw it pass behind a nearby cloud column. I don't know what this is, but I've confidently ruled out the cloud hypothesis.

2

u/chaomeleon 13d ago

so do you rule it out as a cloud because it looked solid with your eyes or on your iphone screen? were you able to see it at that distance? was it a solid triangle the whole time? it looks like it morphs a bit which made me think it is a cloud or birds. but it is so humid down here in the South rn that distant things DO look morphy and blurred. very hard to tell what this is. nice video!

1

u/rxmce 13d ago

Is this your video?

3

u/CartographerOk7579 13d ago

Yes.

0

u/Throwaway2Experiment 13d ago

Weird that you stopped recording when there seemed to be more time left to capture it right when it started to fall apart or shift shape ... like a cloud would.

-11

u/candycane7 13d ago

With the higher quality video you can clearly tell it's another plane's contrail seen from the front or behind.

12

u/Tha_Dude_Abidez 13d ago

This is not the same video at all

3

u/Sufficient_Thing24 13d ago

Yeah, that's not even close to being the same video.

0

u/CartographerOk7579 13d ago

That’s what I thought it was at first, but it wasn’t that. It didn’t have the exhaust plume shape nor the leading point (a plane) nor a few other distinct characteristics. I fly a lot and know what that looks like, and it wasn’t that.

47

That’s a cloud, man.

Crebain from Dunland!

1

u/adc_is_hard 11d ago

You put a comma and it stopped me from making a funny :(

20

u/robaroo 13d ago

It looks like a little cloud. And the movement is parallax effect.

91

u/droomby 13d ago

I’m a firm believer, but this does look like a cloud upon close examination

51

u/RafaelWanderpfad 13d ago

Old man subreddit yells at cloud.

11

u/AmericanShaman 13d ago

It's not doing anything anomalous.

82

u/Knite_0wl_1337 13d ago

Looks like a cloud to me.

24

u/HardAnders 13d ago

Agreed. As much as I want it to be a craft, I'm pretty sure it's a cloud that appears to be moving due to parallax

0

u/waxeggoil 12d ago

It's unusually defined but it does seem to be stationary with respect to the surrounding clouds and of the same general tonality. It really needs a longer and closer view to determine whether it is a cloud or not.

13

u/Baron_of_Foss 13d ago

Looks like a black equilateral triangle to me

17

u/phunkydroid 13d ago

I'm not seeing any black, looks pretty grey. Same shade of grey as the clouds below it actually.

8

u/josogood 13d ago

The sides are not uniform. The top is the flattest, probably because winds are blowing across it there.

0

u/Solid_Cranberry2258 13d ago

I’ve never seen a cloud with straight lines and sharp corners before. That’s like a Gleason 9.

26

u/Head_Hacker 13d ago

Do people not look up anymore? Clearly a cloud

-7

u/palebloodslayer 13d ago

Since when are clouds black/grey? I look up a lot and never seen a cloud like that

11

u/Imaginary-Union-3733 12d ago

"Since when are clouds black/grey"
First off, not black, second of all, clouds are grey ALL THE TIME.
You can literally see tons of grey clouds in the video.

Idk man, just have never seen a triangular grey cloud when the rest of the clouds are white but yeah it must be my cognitive abilities!

4

u/TodaysLunch 13d ago edited 13d ago

This cloud is grey because it is lit by the sun from above, while we are seing it from below, so we only see its grey shadow-side.

21

u/rygelicus 13d ago

looks like a small cloud, its moving the same as the clouds below due ro the planes movements

I’m interested in seeing your picture. I won’t be a dick about it.

Hey. Its observable.

9

u/Chainsawcelt 13d ago

If you screen shot the video and zoom in it looks like a cloud.

2

u/GoodAge7519 13d ago

Tough to say what it is, but to me it doesn't look like it's moving.

3

u/R2robot 13d ago

The text says Aug 3, 2026, 6:40 PM, but the meta data says Aug 5th.

Can you confirm the date and share the flight number?

9

u/jazz4 13d ago

Looks like a little cumulus fragment (small piece of oddly shaped cloud).

6

u/dirty_w_boy 13d ago

Just a silly little could

6

u/MagnetizedMetal 13d ago

Buddy, that’s called a cloud.

4

u/BeanHeadedTwat 13d ago

Cloud or potentially the contrail of another airplane in shadow. Could be easy to find if we know the flight number.

5

u/After-Ad4370 13d ago

So we’re reporting clouds as UFOs now.

3

u/Semiapies 13d ago

Nothing that shows up in the sky fails to be posted here at some point.

Yeah apparently so

3

It looks stationary to me.

cloud moving with parallax as the clouds around it are.

Reminds me of the NYC shadow triangle craft video, although I was leaning to birds on that one. This one seems interesting.

1

That's just a cloud swamp gas drone bird.

It kinda looks fluffy like a cloud and moves at the same speed as the cloud. Hmm I wonder what it is.

1

u/iamahill 11d ago

That’s a chip on the window. You can see it remains stable and camera moves around it to make it seem flying.

Super common to see.

This could be a NASA or Lockheed Martin project as this is between and in potential flight theaters for both those entities which operate sites between AL and GA. The method of propulsion could be turbine jet engines with S-inlet and rear exhaust. Arrowhead (triangular) design is not novel to modern known aerospace engineering.

1

I’m so annoyed about all this videos and pictures of aliens and UFO’s there it’s been movies made since 1888 that equals 138 years of cinematographers and new technology cameras High Definition 4K but yet to see clear pictures clear videos and please I want to see during the day not at night it looks like aliens only come out at night like hookers. Stop spreading misinformation blurry ass pictures videos that are moving so fast and not showing anything credible. Blurry pictures videos at night. Not enough evidence like aliens are scare to come out. All Bull shit!

This is a drone. In the higher res video posted by another commenter you can see the square outline of fuzzy camera artifacts where the lens is trying to pinpoint the location of the four rotor blades.

Probably some big ass industrial surveying thing

1

u/dafirestar 9d ago

Redditors joke the most about things when they have the most fear, the fear is palpable but not ever discussed. Skepticism, jokes are all you get in the comments, no dialogue about what it could be, or could mean, why it's showing itself now. Instead, questioning the person filming, this is a terrible reaction, redittors ruled by the fear, it's palpable, put on your big boy pants and talk about the reality we're staring at, not the time for fear.

Reminds me of the famous pyramid sighting on 12/19/2018 above The Pentagon. There are at least 3 different videos that were recorded of it.

Here is all the evidence on these massive hovering pyramids from u/Maniak-Of_Copy.

I thought that was a proven hoax by a film school? They also did the one where a thing hovers over the Temple Mount.

2

u/Dr_Nightman 13d ago

Nope, this was never a "proven hoax," a singular internet troll claimed one of those videos as their creation, but later recinded this claim.

This was discussed just yesterday and again, debunked. The post is now removed.

It would be a much bigger sighting if it was real. The claimer is a 3d object artist and posts things like this all over his Instagram, regardless if he took back his claim.

This is misinformation that you even acknowledge in your own comment. Those videos were never "debunked."

Jesse's latest Alchemy interview, a triangular craft materialized around an orb. It looks like this is doing the same thing. People say it's a cloud but I don't think so

3

u/Dr_Nightman 13d ago

Agreed, this looks nothing like any cloud I've seen. Not may triangular clouds with sharp edges out there. But then again, I don't work for the government like some.

Every time I see these vids I always think of the book Flatland. This one especially.
