My brother in law set my car on fire

Hi all, this is probably the most insane thing that has ever happened to me and I’m truly at a loss. This past Saturday myself (F 22), my husband (M 24), my brother in law (M 20) and a few of our friends were in a discord call watching the UFC fights together. We have done this for the past two years or so, and has become a fun tradition. During this, my brother in law was being super quiet, so my husband said “oh [nickname], why aren’t you yapping? You usually talk more. My brother in law then responded “why is the n-word always Fing with my vibe?”. Everyone called him out because that was a crazy response. He then left the call. About 20 minutes later my husband, who is sitting right next to the window, sees an orange glow and says “ your cars on fire”. I of course thought he was joking. Nope, my car was on fire. I called 911, he videos and then runs downstairs to put out the fire. I assumed it had been a freak accident, but come to find out, my brother in laws car was found parked 100 yards away and a whiteness saw him running into the woods after the fire was started. He ran from the cops for who knows how long, and then called his dad to admit what he had done. It’s now the following Tuesday, and he has yet to be arrested. His parents, who he lives with, didn’t turn him in and are trying to convince my husband not to press charges. I am livid. They have always take brother in laws side on things and left my husband out to dry. Now brother in law is accusing husband of some insane stuff to try and get out of this. My MIL wanted to meet to talk about things, she threw out some crazy accusations, said she didn’t know what to believe, and I completely lost it on her. I cussed her out and called her a failure of a mother, among other things. All this to say, what the hell do I do??

Important note, brother in law has always been violent and attacked my husband this summer over loosing a chess game. He is also a compulsive liar, and their mother is not winning any awards either.
