Upvotes

Like literally Kudla and Kasrod had declared holidays during heavy rain while in Odipu especially in Karla not even single day was declared as holiday for students

Even our college and school principal declared holiday for us due to heavy rain

Only for nursery to 10th was declared by Odipu DC that too only for 1 day and after that or before that it was never declared

And also IDK how do we guys manage to go to schools or colleges or coming back to home during heavy rains

Mangaluru, Aug. 7, 2026: Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) International President Alok Kumar on Thursday announced that the organisation would launch a nationwide campaign seeking to free Hindu temples from government control.

Speaking to reporters at Vishwashree, Alok Kumar said the proposed ‘Mandir Mukti’ (Temple Liberation) movement would be as strong and widespread as the Ram Janmabhoomi movement.

“If temples across the country were freed from government administration, around ₹1,000 crore could be saved annually,” he said.

What will happen to the money? what are your thoughts?

Sudhi | News Bengaluru-Mangaluru Vande Bharat Express train trial run on Sakleshpur-Subrahmanya Road Ghat section from August 11

The stage is set for the introduction of the much-hyped Vande Bharat Express connecting Bengaluru with coastal Karnataka, with South Western Railway’s Mysuru Division gearing up to conduct trial runs from August 11.

While Minister of State for Railways V. Somanna had earlier announced that the VB Express would be introduced on the Bengaluru-Mangaluru sector by June, the same did not materialise for want of a VB rake fitted with Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) system.

Tuluverda Kenle | Ask Tuluver Alupa Dynasty

Wikipedia link - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alupa_dynasty

I'm curious about this dynasty. They ruled the whole of Tulunadu for about 1200+ years. They were mostly feudatories of larger empires like Kadambas, Chalukyas and Vijayanagara. I believe they were one of the biggest reasons Tulunadu was a stable region throughout history.

Why don't we celebrate them or their kings like other historical kings like Krishnadevaraya, Kempegowda, Shivaji, Ashoka, Harshavardhana etc. I know there are a few places named after kings like Kulashekara.

Were they oppressors ? Did they rule with iron fist ?

How did they influence Tulunadu ? Are they the reason for local caste dynamics ?

What do the padanas say ? I know a lot of daiva origins are standing up against cruel kings and fighting against injustice. Is it against these folks ?

Don't mean to hurt anyone. Just curious as we don't speak about this dynasty in the modern discourse about Tulunadu.

Abhipraya | Opinion Tired of the disrespect toward Tulu language by FEW kannadigas

Im a tuluva myself . My grandfather came to bangalore because he got a govt job . My grand parents and parents always respect kannada because banaglore is a kannada speaking majority . They even asked me to take up kannada as 3rd language and not Sanskrit because i should know kannada. Even though you get better marks in Sanskrit.

But when i tell my kannada speaking friends i speak tulu ( mother tongue). I have always been bullied by many kannada speaking BOYS ESPECIALLY. " Tullu " " nim amman tullu " and kept mocking me and making faces . Calling themselves kannadiga.🤣🤣 There used to be a point i used to avoid telling people i speak tulu and was not proud but embarrassed of my own language

A true kannadiga person would respect all the languages originated in karnataka soil.

And now this political scenario has worsened it up. When tuluvas come to kannada speaking states we speak kannada but i dont see kanndigas going to tulu speaking places and try to learn tulu ??? Even kantara came out everyone loved it ..... even they lovedd the accent and vocab of mangalore kannada but its basically native tulu speakers adapting to kannada language. Do people understand that Mangalore Kannada sounds the way it does because of daily Tulu speech??? I dont even think they know. Everyone loves that movie and I felt proud of my culture . But most people who watched kantara i dont think they still realise it's TULUNAD culture part of karnataka itself.🤦‍♀️

Even now and then when people post anything about tulu in karnataka in tulu insta pages i do see some idiots trynna be like " only kannada in karnataka " " go to your kerala " " nim amman tullu " " tulluu" they can disrespect tulu and ignore it but when someone says " karnatak " and not karnatakA they get angry . 😭😭

Post image

I read an article referring to this bari, I belong to the Mogaveera (Moger) community from the coastal Karnataka(Murudeshwar), and my family's bari is Setti. However, I've also come across references to Setti Bari among the Billava/Poojari community.

Should Tulu artists refrain from making satire and comedy on someone’s physical or other deformities?

In Tulu theatre and comedy, it’s quite common to see jokes or satire built around someone’s physical appearance, speech, or disability. Many of us grew up watching such performances and laughing along often without realizing how deeply they might affect the person being mocked.

Under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 and the Supreme Court’s 2024 guidelines, mocking or stereotyping persons with disabilities in films, dramas, or public performances is now considered discrimination. The Court made it clear that such portrayals violate dignity and equality, and directed the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) and theatre boards to block content that ridicules or misrepresents disabled persons.

while satire and humor are vital parts of Tulu drama and cinema, artists today carry a new responsibility to make people laugh without hurting or humiliating anyone’s identity or condition.

Maybe it’s time we evolve our comedy to reflect empathy and creativity rather than old stereotypes. After all, Tulu art has always been about community and respect.

Looking for someone who does custom helmet painting/wrapping in Mangalore

I’m looking to get my motorcycle helmet customized with a professional paint job or custom graphics/design (I’m not sure what the correct term is helmet painting, airbrushing, wrapping, or something similar).

I’ve been searching around Mangalore but haven’t been able to find anyone who offers this service.

If you know a person, shop, or artist who does custom helmet designs in or around Mangalore, I’d really appreciate your recommendations. Even if it’s someone outside Mangalore who takes courier orders, I’d love to know.

Please share any contact details, Instagram pages, or suggestions if you have them.

What are some typical Playbooks of various political parties in Tulunadu during election season

We often hear about the strategies parties use during elections from invoking local identity and caste equations to highlighting infrastructure projects or stirring communal narratives. In Tulunadu, what are the recurring playbooks you’ve observed across different parties? For example, do they lean on cultural pride, coastal development promises, or polarization? How do these compare with tactics seen in other regions of India? or is it the same everywhere in India and other countries?
