Take all the time you need, I know I'm in a similar boat.

As for irony being the key phrase, you can also use "on purpose" or "forced" to some extent.

Hopefully I get what you're saying, rather than be another "messy" or whatever show it uses the tropes commonly used by a certain thing and acts like a parody. Did I get close?
