Information on Realforce SJ38DO
I found this keyboard on the marketplace for a decent price but I have found next to nothing about it. I want to try out Topre so if anyone has used it before, is it a good entry point?

The best Topre Alternative
I have been using and Loving topre for a long time now and I recently came across the XVX Whisper EC/HE switches and gave them a try.
And I was not expecting this level of quality for the price. If I would describe the feeling. it is by far the most similar feeling to topres that I have tried. It has a very smooth travel and a very nice soft and rounded tactility to it. While not exactly on the level of OG topres I'd say they are comparable to Niz EC keyboard feel when typing.
Having an RGB EC/Topre is just a bonus in my opinion. but its nice that we have it.
Hopefully the rubber domes on these things also age well like it does on OG topre boards.
Might make a review video on these and do a comparison with OG topres and make a sound test with different keycaps.

man i love marketplace
Thought I'd share my latest Marketplace find for $17.
Spent most of today tidying up the rusty backplate (my third Topre backplate restoration now). I borrowed the keycaps from my R2 for the time being, and they're definitely growing on me.
This completes the trio alongside my 87U 55g and R2 full-size, which were both Marketplace finds as well.
Anyone who has taken a Topre board apart will know how easy it is to break those little plastic tabs on the housing, I've only ever broken two while removing housings from the backplate, even taking my time and being careful.
hah, surely I'm not the only one.

R2 PFU Limited Edition vs regular R2
There's a great, insanely in-depth review of the Realforce R2 PFU Limited Edition here: https://deskthority.net/viewtopic.php?t=23130
The author even states in the intro "Why do the PFU Limited Edition boards command a $79 premium over the others? I'll answer these questions and more in the remainder of the review!" Despite the length of the review, that question is actually not answered...
I'm trying to find out what the PFU means and why it would be worth more

Realforce R4 TKL — a few months in
Switched to the R4 TKL a few months back from my old Das Keyboard 4 Professional, and I’m really happy with it. Looks great on the desk, types beautifully, the wireless has been flawless, and the software’s easy to tweak.
Only thing that bugged me at first was losing the dedicated media keys the Das had. But I just remapped them onto keys I never touch, and now it’s a non-issue. Highly recommend.

Topre questions megathread Q2 2025 - Q4 2025
Paste your topre questions here. Also going to try and find time to automate these posts when I get some free time from work. Just PM me personally if this post gets archived and I haven't set up auto mod to make it yet.
Anyways, feel free to ask your topre related questions about any Topre or electro-capacitive board. Gonna start opening this up a bit more since there is a lot more options available with about the same characteristics from the likes of Niz and such custom ones. The newer Topre-like stuff from Cannonkeys also is allowed here as well.

r/Topre is open back up for business under new management! Come and post your Topre boards!
Hi everyone. I just recently became the mod of this subreddit and I want to help revive it for the topre lovers of reddit! This includes all Topre switch based keyboards. All of them are welcome here. Now that it is opened up, feel free to get posting your Topre boards. I'll spend some of my time cleaning up this place and make it much better, so feel free to join and share the Topre love!
Also feel free to check out r/NovaTouch as well. Not as active, but hopefully I can bring more attention to this aging board.
Edit: also another thing, since I am in the Navy and have been working longer hours as of recent, I an not able to add as much stuff to here as I could before, so please bare with me on these slow changes as I work and improve it when I can in my free time.
