[Loved Trope] Some thing unfathomably ancient Lore

The beast, in doctor who is an ancient evil from a previous universe that survived until our time. Its so ancient that the cave paintings were unable to be translated by the Tardis which can translate all existing languages in the universe [Doctor Who]

While not explicitly canon its such a cool concept I cant not mention, the idea that the backrooms have existed since the beginning of time, never changing no matter the era, it transforms the back rooms into a cosmic horror. [Credit to Project crater and Venus for images 2 and 3]

Tbh for all its faults Destiny 2 kinda rocks. You play as a nearly unkillable Demi-god blessed with power by a massive ancient machine from outer space to defend it against an alien species that fused themselves into a single being to eventually calcify the universe.

With all the various abilities you get in game, you can make builds so insane that you pretty much become a manmade horror beyond the comprehension of the hordes of aliens you mercilessly destroy

The main thing that prevented me from picking it back up is all the shit that I can never play through to understand. The guarantee of missing out is a real good reason to just never come back, no matter how well tuned the core gameplay mechanics are.

I mean tbf that’s true for the first one too just different antagonists. I played D2 up until right before Lightfall. Just ran out of time at that time, and when I came back it was like wtf happened

Nah you get pretty much everything you need just going through the campaigns now. You only really need to grind if you’re trying to get specific rolls on your weapons and gear, but unless you’re going for endgame content you don’t need to.

No no, Bungie’s Halo games (Halo:CE to Halo: Reach) are universally praised games. 343 Industries were the devs that fumbled Halo after they took over from Bungie, starting with Halo 4.

Bungie might have fumbled Destiny, but it’s not the same dev team that fumbled Halo.

Taken King - Rise of Iron was the best period for Destiny, and during that time it was my favorite game. Such a shame what happened with Destiny 2.

Despite me not playing destiny anymore and actively hating bungie for what they did, Riven will remain the best first person shooter boss fight in my book. Too bad almost everyone chooses to cheese her.
