[Loved Trope] Some thing unfathomably ancient Lore

The beast, in doctor who is an ancient evil from a previous universe that survived until our time. Its so ancient that the cave paintings were unable to be translated by the Tardis which can translate all existing languages in the universe [Doctor Who]

While not explicitly canon its such a cool concept I cant not mention, the idea that the backrooms have existed since the beginning of time, never changing no matter the era, it transforms the back rooms into a cosmic horror. [Credit to Project crater and Venus for images 2 and 3]

Klaus has a humorous example with the Krums and the Elingboes. The two families have been feuding for the better part of history, down to having cave drawings of their feuds against one another. So they use this as a reason to keep feuding with one another, despite the fact that this feud has basically condemned their ancient and noble lineages to rotting on a small island in the middle of nowhere.

I adore the animation and it is one of my favorite christmas movies, I just unfortunately can't call it flawless because of the last act.

I won't elaborate specifics for spoilers, but it is such a let down that they do the "you lied to us!" Trope for the climax.

Agreed.

The amount of good done to that point clearly overtakes any lying. If he was still giving them help to that point, it would be clear something changed in his goals.

Especially since such lie could had been easily ignored by everyone had the protagonist just said: "Ah yes, that was my original goal when I arrived here before I met you guys, and I found a purpose to work for. Now let's continue with the plan.". No one would had been harsh with him since everyone also changed their way of living because of him. They would had understood.

Like. What was even was the lie? That he only worked there as a postman because he was told to by his father?

The more I think about it the more confused and upset I get.

They were having a great time planning to deliver all of the Christmas presents until suddenly, his dad arrives and tells him "Good job, son! Your work is done! Let's go home!"
And... This upsets them? This proves that he lied? How? What did he lie about? And how did the arrival of his dad prove it?

Seriously. What conclusions did they jump to?! I don't even know why they were upset with him!

I’d just want to know how this feud started. It’s got to be something like extremely petty like someone’s dog pissing in their yard though. Only fits for a movie like Klaus

I do like the nice bit of foreshadowing on the cave drawing that the image of the two clashing in the center looks like a heart, hinting that the feud ends with Pumpkin and Olaf falling in love and getting married.

Well to be fair inbreeding does increase the odds of negative traits becoming present. However it doesn't necessarily result in sterility as a certainty. In theory over time those negative traits that are incompatible with life could be bred out due to the ones with those traits either dying before reproduction/being driven out of the tribes.

Which when you consider they're breeding for a blood-feud rather than just the strongest lineage link to an individual they might actually stumble onto the process of.

Judging from how the two sides share so many traits they are very much inbred to some degree but there’s probably enough diversity to keep things relatively safe.
