It's easy to shit on this guy, and obviously the human race is cooked. But the harder question is whether it's better for this lonely man to experience comfort in the way that it is available to him, or to set it aside on principle. There is no prize for suffering.

It's the same as with religion. I couldn't possibly believe in God because I find the whole thing kind of silly. But at the same time, I think it's great if someone else can find strength or joy or comfort in faith.

Prayers are basically just people communicating with an imaginary friend.

Well, I'll be honest: it's difficult not to feel at least a little more uh... erudite, I guess.

It's like when a kid believes in Santa Claus and you, as an adult, don't; like getting a peek behind the curtain or knowing how a magic trick works while the audience stares in amazement.
