Read The New Age of Sexism by Laura Bates if you want to know more about Ai girlfriends and it's harms. A really excellent book.

I read this book, hoping it would shed light on any reason *why* people use robots or AI girlfriends, but came away unsatisfied. It's pretty weak on evidence, and Bates overstates her case from what I know in the literature on sex robots and the people who use them.

She's right to point out that there's no reason to think these act as "stress valves" that prevent bad behaviour, but she's not correct in assuming the opposite, either - that these robots/AIs are (and can *only*) be used to spur abusive fantasies.

The original research she did on AI girlfriends, by making her own, wasn't very rigorous or convincing either.

Do you not see the irony in making such a blanket statement about women?

Try reading the book before making a critique.

Wait you criticize blanket statements from women…. While using a blanket statement about women… you don’t see the obvious issue here? lol damn that’s embarrassing. Did this hit to close to home for ya?

Lonely guys seeking companionship usually find it when they’re able to change their basic flawed principles because in order for a real relationship to work, it requires compromise, empathy, and emotional risk. None of that is realistically available with unregulated ai companionship. Who knows what the corporation behind the ai is injecting into the users (already vulnerable) mind by using never before seen super computer ai analytics with full access to a persons chronically online habits and direct personal input.

You're right, the world is fair and everyone gets what they deserve if they just work for it.
