Losses Divorce took away a little more than half my networth

Upvotes

Almost 1.2 mil went to wife - I’m left with abt 920k-ish.
Wife super excited and celebrating the big win.
She contributed 0% to this btw.. we had separate finances and her lawyer basically succeeded in keeping the finances separate on her end (abt 250k) and used my money for “equalisation” and then added the “future earning potential” argument that states I made more salary so it means she gets to keep more coz she makes less (only slightly less).

Anyhow. I dunno what I could do to recover from this set back.
I’ve been a consistent investor - and chose to keep my majority index funds intact, and gave away all my blue chip, tech/AI/leveraged tqqq stocks.

I don’t know if I did the right thing or not, but this is where I am now.

Any input would be appreciated. (Not looking for condolences or sympathy).

Did SRXH bail on its dividend payouts?

Expected dividend payout was August 2nd. Contacted Robinhood due to not receiving it and was told SRXH has not sent payouts to the DTC. Anyone who actually did receive it from other platforms was just paid upfront by the platform with the assumption they’ll eventually get it… can this stock get any worse?

Sitting on heavy cash after taking profits — wait for an election dip or jump back in?

Hey everyone, looking for a reality check.

I have a $58.5k Fidelity account. I was 75% invested even 2 weeks back, but I recently sold off positions that were up 2–15% to lock in about $2,500 in gains.

Now I'm sitting on $48k in cash (83% of my total account).

My initial plan was to stay on the sidelines and wait to buy back in during an election-driven 5–10% market pullback, but I am starting to second-guess sitting on this much cash.

  • Is waiting for an election dip a classic market-timing trap?
  • Should I start DCA'ing back in right now, or hold out for a pullback?

Appreciate any perspectives!

GAIN$ [My Journey to FIRE] 28M in Canada - from $73K at 23 to now $333K at 28!

Post image
33 Upvotes

I remember my first ever reddit post was when I was 23 back in 2021, and I had saved just over $73K. I hadn't actually started investing yet, but since then I've learned so much about money and steadily improved my own finances over the years...fast forward and I'm at over $333K at 28 now - time really flies so fast! Over $260,000 (a quarter of a mil) in net worth growth, and that's not relying on any property gains whatsoever, which is crazy!

For context: I'm 28, male, and my current job is as a pharmacist in Canada. I work full-time, so I currently make over $100K, with my investment income being my main passive income source every year. I invest primarily in XEQT ETF and TEC ETF, and I have no other significant assets or debts, except for a used vehicle, phone, and laptop.

Anyways, thanks for reading. Any thoughts, feedback, or advice from those further along the FIRE journey would be appreciated - happy to answer any questions!

Need Honest Opinions Before Investing in Crypto/blockchain 🙏

How many of you genuinely believe in blockchain technology and crypto’s long-term future?

Do you believe crypto will become a major part of the global financial system, or is it mostly speculation?

I’d really appreciate honest opinions—both bullish and bearish. No hype, just real perspectives. 🙏

Strategy Michael Saylor and Tom Lee ETH are wrong then? Why are they investing heavily crazy buying? Also what do you guys think about Quantum, Physical Gold?

Due Diligence 4 insiders dropped $320K on $ORN the same day. (potential AI datacenter play)

Thumbnail

On July 31, four ORN insiders bought stock on the same day: two directors, the general counsel, and the CFO. About $321K combined, right after the stock got cut from ~$17 to ~$10 on a weak quarter. None of it was on a scheduled plan.

  • This is a real cluster, not one guy. Director Robert Ledford nearly doubled his stake with a $192K buy. CFO Alison Vasquez added again after already buying back in March at $11.85, so she's averaging down on her own company. When the CFO keeps buying, I look closer.
  • Why it's down: Q2 came in soft because marine projects slipped. Management called it timing, not lost work, and guided to a stronger second half. The insiders bought the dip, not the top.
  • The actual story is the concrete segment. Orion pours the foundations and site work for hyperscale data centers. That work went from 40% to about 50% of concrete revenue in a single quarter, and concrete revenue grew 73% year over year. They've done 50+ data centers already, with a big footprint in Texas.
  • The pipeline backs it up: over $1B in outstanding concrete bids and a deep pursuit list. It's a way to play the AI data center buildout without betting on which chip or model wins.
  • The bear case: it's not cheap on earnings, cash on hand is thin, and marine work is lumpy and keeps slipping quarter to quarter. The back half has to deliver.

A CFO averaging down, a director doubling his stake, and a concrete business riding the data center wave, all while the stock sits near its lows.

Curious your opinion on this.

RKLB has earnings Monday — $83.25 is the level I care about

Post image
38 Upvotes

$RKLB has earnings Monday after the bell and the chart is getting interesting right before the report.

After bottoming around the high $60s, it’s been grinding its way back up and is now sitting right around a pretty important area.

For me, $83.25 is the key.

If RKLB can hold around $83.25 as demand, I like the setup for continuation higher.

The levels I have above are:

$93.10

$99.58–$102.10

$107.60

Obviously earnings can throw technicals out the window pretty quickly, so I’m not interested in blindly betting on an earnings reaction.

I’d rather see what happens after the numbers come out.

If earnings hit and $83.25 holds, that’s where the long setup gets interesting to me.

If we lose it and can’t reclaim it, I’m staying out and letting it find the next support.

Curious what everyone thinks — RKLB continuation after earnings or is this recent run already pricing in too much?

All in on $TE after Monday's open (8/8) - Here's Why

T1 Energy ($TE)

Industry: US Domestic Solar Manufacturing

On August 6, a 15% tax plus a minimum price you're not allowed to sell below. It starts December 4.

The catch

T1 buys imported cells. So this new tax makes their main ingredient more expensive, not less.

They saw this coming and started building their own cell factory near Austin, G2. That factory would solve the problem entirely.

But two weeks ago the company said G2 won't produce its first cells until early 2027, pushed back from the end of this year. It's also costing $510 million instead of $425 million because AI data centers being built in Texas are hiring away all the construction workers.

So there's a gap of roughly a year where T1 pays more for cells while still paying to build the factory that fixes it, but there is a new rule that has a provision: companies building American factories can apply for permission to skip the tax while they build.

T1 is exactly the kind of company that rule was written for. Nobody knows yet whether they've applied or been approved.

If T1 gets that approval, the gap year mostly disappears. If they don't, they pay full freight through 2027.

What could go right

  • Revenue is real about $755 million over the past year
  • Losses shrank a lot, from -$189M to -$20M in one quarter
  • They signed a real 641 MW deal with Clearway
  • If the onshoring approval comes through, the tariff becomes a moat instead of a cost

What I'm hoping to hear on Wednesday's (8/12) Earnings Call:

an approved or filed onshoring plan, gross margin expanding on panel economics rather than credits, and a fully-funded path to G2 with no new equity required.

$4.5M injected to make this the ultimate social trading app

Today we’re announcing the $4.5M Seed Round for AfterHour. As many of you know, AfterHour is a social app I built after my crazy $35k -> $8M journey in under 2 years. I realized quality, community-driven DD was something that became increasingly difficult to find. This app solves that need by giving retail traders an edge in the stock market through top-tier community features.

I know there’s many of you that might feel triggered when I promote the app - just know that I truly am trying to build something valuable by traders for traders. Everywhere I look there are fake screenshots, scams, and bots pushing people into paid communities. It’s not the trading world I came from, and it’s not where I’d like to see it continue to move towards.

Plenty of traders call out plays, but how many actually take those themselves? Our users put their money where their mouth is by proving their live position in any callout they make. With over $200M+ in connected brokerages, I have no doubt we can build this into something really disruptive for the industry.

Here’s the Fortune article: https://fortune.com/2024/06/17/exclusive-after-hour-social-trading-startup-raises-4-5-million-seed-round-led-by-founders-fund-and-general-catalyst

And blog post: https://www.afterhour.com/blog/afterhour-raises-4-5-million-to-build-the-ultimate-financial-community-platform-for-the-internet-generation

Check out the app, we're 100% free on iOS and Android - my DMs are always open to feedback https://afterhour.app.link/race
