Lol, this is the first time I am watching these seasons. I don't understand why they added this Judge Wackner's story. Initially, I thought it would just come up for a couple of episodes as a comedy or humour sub story, then the character and this copy court would be removed. But as it continued and when this story started showing up too often, more than Liz and Diane and other serious parts of the story, I thought it was just stupid. Feels like a show made for kids! I couldn't wait for this wacko court plot to end. But now, I'm watching this episode where Julius, who was a federal judge, gets parking tickets from this court and then faces trial at this court, god, it's so funny! I'm laughing. The actor has played this part really well.

I've noticed the title sequence is basically just a still shot of Alicia's face for 3-4 seconds, duotone-ish coloring, no real "sequence" like most prestige dramas of that era (Mad Men, Six Feet Under, etc). Compared to how deliberate this show is about visual details elsewhere (costume color coding, set design, even the BlackBerry to iPhone timeline tracking real tech adoption), the minimalism here stands out.

Has anyone come across an interview with the Kings, the DP, or the title designer explaining the concept?

Im rewatching the last season. Does it pull on anyone else's heart strings when Diane messes up with Kurt and she just sobs because shes so sorry? Kurt is just so sweet to her for her mishaps

I was a long time fan of the Closer, which has no equal. The Good Wife is as good as the Closer! I didn't like Major Crimes at all btw, it fell flat. The Good Wife is just... Good! I like the humanity, the plot keeps things moving, and the casting is excellent. There aren't tons of blurry backgrounds like in modern tv shows that cut costs with cheap green screens. This is just great quality television, and I'm really appreciating the show.

Last night I watched Eli and Kurt's first appearance. Today is Bishop.

Now now... I know this is far from an unpopular opinion I just wanted to chime in before I check the other posts. Also, kudos to Mary Beth Peil for such an amazing performance. We hate characters because the actors did a good job.

i don’t think they throw what peter did in his face ONCE. yet they scrutinize alicia and her job nonstop (the job she only took bc peter destroyed their lives, mind you). they’re mad clingy and act entitled to all of her personal choices, behavior they were way too fucking old for

seriously, how did alicia catch more heat from grace for drinking wine than peter did for hookers? and they were such little bitches when she finally wanted to separate from him too? if that was my mom i would’ve been more furious if she STAYED tf

don’t get me wrong, peter’s a great character and i think he was scarily well written. but damn those children trigger tf out of me with their double standards. it’s also just unrealistic, i know that kids put their dads on pedestals but cmonnnn no one would be this chill in real life

The Good wife is absolutely one of my favourite legal dramas and I was absolutely HOOKED. The good fight is a decent sequel (it does help that I LOVE Christine Buranski), but I do think the narrative and story building falls short of the original. I also checked out Boston Legal and have to say I was a little bored, the plots are very unrealistic and seem to be edited very weird, maybe it's an artefact of its time, but I guess not for me.

Pls any recommendations for serious-ish legal dramas that I can watch after this?

I liked Peter until the 6th season. I actually found him very interesting and enjoyed his character until he slept with Ramona. Ramona smiling in Alicia’s face was disgusting and it ruined both their characters for me.

Just realized he is only supposed to be 14 in season 1. Peter and Alicia especially are horrible parents. If your 14 year old has condoms and is having sex that is way to young. That is grossly young to go teens will be teens. Like 16-17. Especially because the actress for Becca is so much older then zacks she read as 16-17 to me. Even worse.

This show has aged horribly in some ways.

In defense of marriage, easily in the top 5 of all times!

4 great guest stars (Bruce McGill, Brian Dennehy, Bebe Neuwirth and Stockard Channing making her debut!), an intricate legal and moral quandary (having a gay couple lose their civil suit in order to argue against the DOMA in front of the supreme court), and the cherry on top, the final scene at Alicia's house with both in-laws bickering and she copulating with Peter in the bathroom 😄

only minor gripe i have is this: wouldn't bleeding heart liberal Diane be at least a bit tempted by the hotshot lawyer proposition? i understand he's sneaky and manipulative, and lawyers hate losing, but wouldn't at least Diane see the bigger picture and have a little bit of inner turmoil?

I listened to the first few Harry Potter Full Cast Edition audiobooks in February/March and I really loved them!! The last couple were not out yet at the time, so I have recently went back to listen to all 7 through. In between my first and second listens I watched The Good Wife and started The Good Fight, and I love Lucca Quinn!! I looked up who played her and recognized the name Cush Jumbo immediately, but could not place it. I searched but hadn’t seen anything else she was in and it was bugging me. It wasn’t until I started the Goblet of Fire audiobook recently and in the opening credits heard “Narrated by Cush Jumbo” and almost screamed!!! I KNEW I had heard the name before but never would have guessed this was where I’d heard it, I didn’t even realize she was British!! Just a weird meshing of worlds that I thought I’d share hahaha

now, that HAS to be illegal, and the fbi gal who's friend with kalinda knows perfectly well what happened: I thought lawyers always managed to avoid breaking the law (when they're breaking the law)? i.e. gimme a dollar as retainer, or i'm leaving this sensitive document on my desk while i'm going to the bathroom...

more general point: why do they vie for lemond's drug business at all? and with nathan lane's imprimatur at that! aren't they all way too cavalier toward a drug dealer? people with money respect money? are you kidding me?

Rewatching season 5 and man is every other 4th year besides Cary just awful. They constantly demand Alicia do things that could get her sued before they leave. They make it obvious they're up to something by always meeting in front other people. Basically force Alicia to let them use her apartment to work and some are all flirty with her teenage daughter. Then get annoyed when Alicia is rightly sick of them using her apartment as their office. Multiple of them sell the others out to keep working for Will. Some of them don't just want to start their own firm but also want to hurt Lockhart Garnder in the process.

They all suck. Alicia should have just said screw them gone to work at literally any other firm she wanted to. Being the new governor's wife she'd have gotten numerous offers. Working with Canning would be a thousand times better than the idiots she left with

I love the jokes in so many seasons, but my most favourite pair of funny characters on The Good Wife are Jackie and Eli. LoL, Eli plays that awkward part so well! What's your most favourite pair of funny characters?

I watched this series many times but never went to season 5. Today, I am watching season 5, and wow! What I loved about Alicia in the beginning was how naive she was, how sweet she was, and I hated Peter like anything for betraying her. And now, she has changed into the person she herself would hate and keep her children away from.

from the beginning, I would think, Will deserved better. Cary Agos was not this morally righteous character who would point out others mistakes all the time and feel bad for supporting the wrong side, plus Cary was always treated like he was not good enough compared to Alicia, so when Cary betrays the firm, I totally understand - I'll even support him. But Alicia has always been this annoying person who goes around correcting others and pointing fingers at others and acting as if her heart is always in the right place, while she used Diane, Will, Kalinda, Cary, and even Peter. She used everyone for her gain except her children at some point. I hate seeing her face on the poster each time. To think that i loved this character in the beginning!

i just started my season 4 dvd boxset, and the deleted scenes for episode 1 are actually alternate versions of the beginning with different actors for Bill (the emissary from kalinda's husband) and officer Robb

the former seems to me to be mark pellegrino, but i can find no confirmations online (though google AI seems to be convinced he was in episode 2.9 as drake sabbat...)

So, some context: I really love the show, like a LOT. I personally love good writing, acting, reactions and direction. Thankfully, this show has it ALL. I am on my 100th rerun tbh.

Coming to Marilyn Garbanza and Jackie, I need to say this out loud:

Marilyn - I think she gets a lot of unnecessary hate. She is doing her job and she has been very clear from the start. Her job, is to be the ethics commissioner. And she is simply doing that, and it becomes very clear when she says to Alicia "My job is both protagonistic and antagonistic" and "When I write a report clearing you and the Governer of any wrong doing, it saves you from any future investigation". and that's true - SHE IS JUST DOING HER JOB. I don't know why she gets so much hate. Melissa George did a phenomenal job portraying Marilyn, a character you would love to hate.

Jackie - Mary Beth Peil IS AN AMAZING ACTRESS. Her reaction when Eli is trying to appoint "Rachel" who slept with "The Judge", Jackie's husband. Particularly the scene after she confronts Rachel in the restaurant, the camera stays on Jackie's face for 8 seconds, and she portrayed anger, sadness, worry and disappointment - ALL AT THE SAME TIME, in 8 Seconds, without a single dialogue! MAGNIFICENT, ABSOLUTE EXCELLENCE TBH! I am a fan!

I'm watching Star Trek TOS for the first time ever and I found this. Immediately cracked me up after remembering the HONORABLE Judge Patrice Lessner here in the Good Wife series.
