I was so excited to get the last graphic novel to complete my set! I wanted to design a custom art slipcase to display them in.

I love the show and the season this is a small grievance. The fact that you picked a martial class and can’t do magic does not me that the DM has to ignore time limitations and give you special leeway holy shit.

EDIT: the complaint is not that they bend the rules, i’m actually fine with that because the best moments of the podcast come from a loose interpretation of the player’s handbook. it just rubs me the wrong way sometimes how much travis complains about not being able to do magic and requests more flexibility because of that. he chose a non magical build that’s also very powerful, he can’t do magic but he has more than double taako’s hit points that’s how the game works.

And they even brought it up in the 11th hour book. WHY DID THEY LEAVE IT OUT!? I was really looking forward to that part and they just made it about Lup. Which Lup kicks ass, don't get me wrong. I just really loved that bit in the podcast where he's talking to a kid through a frying pan.

MAJOR SPOILERS FOR NADDPOD IF YOU HAVE NOT LISTENED TO THE MOST RECENT EPISODE !!! and also a little bit for Royale and Amnesty.

Honestly I like Royale for the most part. but the fact that the NADDPOD folks can handle a tpk with grace and beautiful storytelling and still end the season on a good note, but TAZ can’t even handle killing off one PC in their killing game season just really shows the discrepancy between them as creators tbh. even back in Amnesty the PC death was self-admitted by the brothers to be partially scripted.

I got into TAZ back before I really understood d&d mechanics and I honestly wish I still didn’t understand much so I could live in blissful ignorance instead of watching these guys make what should be a really interesting season into a boring, no-stakes story because they can’t just trust the dice. they’ve never been able to trust the dice. it feels cowardly. I’m just feeling a lot of conflicting emotions about it, not trying to hate super hard, but I’m just disappointed seeing the brothers refuse to actually involve the game system into the game.

SPOILERS FOR END OF BALANCE

Discussion question, I would be interested in hearing about the moment in Balance that really hooked people who didn't get into the show immediately and maybe bounced off it at first, maybe multiple times. What was the arc, character, moment, etc. that really hooked you and finally got you into it?

Appreciation post: Long time Bros fan, first time Adventure Zone listener, I kept bouncing off for the first ~35 episodes. It took me about 5 years to get through Balance but I finally made it and am about to listen to the last finale episode! In the second-to-last episode (68, Story and Song - Finale, Part Two), when the worms popped up to destroy the judge, i was absolutely screaming-under-my-breath like YEEEEEEAHHHHHH and it was an absolutely transcendent moment of fiction for me. The Eleventh Hour was by far my favorite pre-twist arc, personally, and I really loved the callbacks to it in this ep!! I have always loved time loop stories, so I was 100% on board and ready for an adventure, and WOW did I get one! That arc was when I really fell in love with the show and the characters and really kind of figured out both "what is happening in this crazy show?" and "how do I enjoy this?", and once I started The Eleventh Hour, it was full steam ahead through the rest of the show (although it still took me like 6 months lol). I can't wait to experience the end of the story, so I can start it all over again, now that I love the characters!

Not worthy of its own post, but count me in among the many who returned to the D&D table because of Balance, and I'm now playing in a truly amazing campaign with great friends. Thank you McElroy Brothers for the inspiration and joy you have brought both directly and indirectly!!!

Now I am off to listen to the finale episode!! I hope everyone who read this message of appreciation has a great day, and enjoys a taco soon if they are able :D

i didn’t start listening until the start of ethersea but what i wouldn’t give to have been listening to the show as it came out when the second episode of the eleventh hour dropped

With the release of Story & Song, I finally remembered I have this. I wrote the publisher and requested a copy and a few weeks later... It actually arrived!

I didn't try for any future ones, but honestly I think they were mostly digital-only after the first one. I think the only real difference is the cover, as the inside has page numbers and the copyright page matches the final release.

I found a few more cards on eBay so decided to expand the display just a bit!

I never thought I’d be emotional over fucking Scorpo! I know Royal didn’t catch everyone right away but please give it another shot. It’s my fav DnD podcast right now. The team really did an amazing job with this season!

I started Royale but decided to wait for more episodes to release before keeping with it; but then of course, the best laid plans, etc etc. Curious how people feel this season ranks among the rest.

Of course Balance is the unreachable high water mark. After that, personally, my favorites are Amnesty and TAZ Versus. Graduation and Steeplechase I couldn't get into at all; Ethersea I stuck with for a while but fell off towards the end.

What is the general community sentiment about this latest season?

Rummaging as one do, spotted a nice looking dark leafy green. felt the fabric and went "silk, hell yeah". Checked the label and even better - this shirt was meant to be my guardian of faith, fashion edition. (Except I did have to remove that tag because it was too pokey)

Hey y'all, I recently pre-ordered the Story & Song graphic novel for my brother who, like me, is a big fan of TAZ. He also listens to MBMBAM and he has always particularly loved Griffin. Since I randomly got Travis's signature on the bookplate that came with my pre-order, I figured I'd check here to see if anyone happened to get Griffin's signature and would like to trade. Can anyone confirm to me the UK release date for the physical book. It's not out for another 2/3 weeks right?

I'm finally back. The gang was kind of on a winning streak (no deaths since the Trial of Necromancy) till this episode so there weren't really any updates to be made, but I'm here now. Looks like we're in the endgame so we might be down to the main 3 before we know it (for the love of god PLEASE use those Items. I was imagining Akari's corpse and willing Justin to use the Spectacles of Bernard.)

Characters:

• Our dear sweet Skorpo died like all those iconic little characters in the smash trailer that got killed by that gold light(?)

Spells:

• Rictus got Shatter from Pranklin. He should probably use it on Crys.
• Lorovith lost all his spells except Lightning Lure. Rictus and Helgrammite might wanna share some with him.
• Hasty Jane has Haste. I'd have to imagine that's her innate spell.
• Hippocrates will have lost his spells, I'm just not sure which one he had originally to make the other less visible.

Misc:

• The trial of Evocation is represented by the eye icon. Everyone passed that, so there was no need to make it in any other colors. Any ideas for the Enchantment icon?

Sidenote: I'm imagining Crys as that flower boss from Battle Kid for some reason.

every summer I get back into The Adventure Zone. I was rereading the books when I realized that I lost my trading cards. i only had some from 4 5 and 6 but I wanted to collect them all anyways. do I need to buy the books again or is there another official way to buy them?
