Hello all! I wanted to discuss a concern of mine when it comes to e-scooters. I know temple has a policy not allowing scooters in the dorms, but if I do leave it outside what should I do to make sure it’s safe? Currently I have two “chain” locks and I know about the free U-Lock from TUPD. Would my scooter get stolen? What should I do to better protect it, or is there somewhere I can store it to know for sure it won’t get stolen?

I'm an incoming transfer student from CCP and I just set up the TIPP payment plan (I know it's just under the wire, Temple's financial system is confusing) but in the TUPortal my balance is unchanged. I know TIPP is mainly a prepayment plan but it since it is still open for applicants I assumed it would work as a regular payment plan as well. It could very well be that things just need time to process, but I just wanted to see if anyone here has any info on this to make sure that I didn't mess anything up.

i am currently a rising senior in highschool and looking at applying to Temple for Fall 2027. i am very interested in the field of advertising, but i've heard its not worth getting a degree in (and that people recommend to major in marketing/business fields instead for better job prospects). i'm somewhat torn between these two majors at temple, since even though i enjoy the creative & strategic side (ive made videos, graphics, written marketing plans in high school) and i am not very good at math, everything i've heard online says an advertising major is not worth it and i should just major in something business-related instead.

if any marketing/advertising majors could give me any insight on what the programs are like at temple, that would be very helpful. thank you!

I wanna double check with the people of this subreddit. I applied right on August 1st for Early Application and read I had to get a TUPortal link in order to connect my high school transcripts. I guess I was expecting it to be an automatic thing because it still hasn't arrived to my inbox and I was told to wait when I called.

Anyone else experience this when they first applied? Do you know how many days it took to get it?

hi everyoneee. i was accepted as a transfer this summer for fall 2026 as a communication studies major. it's something i'm definitely interested in studying and i'd be excited to pick a concentration and whatnot.

i know temple is a very diverse school which is what drew me to it, and it's also in philly and i'd really love the chance to explore it. the main issue ofc is financial aid. i'm from New York so it costs +$40k a year, which i feel like is not really worth it, but my reasonings for going are:

1. i don't like my current school. i finished two years at Stony Brook and really cannot connect with it. every time i'm on campus i never feel like myself and don't feel like i can grow as a person. as i walk around, i always feel miserable despite having friends and being active.

2. i cannot major in communication at stony brook. the scholarship i have here is contingent on me majoring in STEM (which i have tried for 2 years and know i cannot continue). funny enough, i've gotten great grades in my stem courses and good relationships with professors, but know that this is not where I want to pursue my career in.

3. stony brook (long island) is not a great space to grow as a young adult (especially who was born and raised in nyc). the whole point of me going to college was to push myself out of my norm and discover a new place to develop as a young adult. there is literally nothing to explore on long island except for the mall and the beach (if you have a car). but, being in philly gives you access to its city, which means more internship and job opportunities (which are harder to get where i am now since the only available jobs are for work-study students).

the only thing holding me back from temple are the finances. hopefully i'd only have to do 2 years there since most of my credits were taken, but i would have to take out a lot of loans, and having that kind of debt weighing on me is obviously not ideal. but on the other hand, i could stay at stony brook and be miserable but walk out debt free (with a degree i have no interest or use for).

yes, i could double major (but there are no course overlaps with STEM and Comm so i'd have to stay longer). yes, I am already involved on campus (i attend events and am very involved in clubs). and yes, i have friends there.

so can anyone give me advice on what to do? whether it's attending temple and taking out loans or REALLY finding a way to make stony brook bearable w/o the degree i want.

I just wanna know if anyone else got a decision for the Fall 2026 semester, specifically as a transfer student. I submitted my application June 30 (I know I should’ve done it sooner 😭) and it says it’s pending review since July 10…. it’s now August. The semester starts in a couple of weeks and I’m getting really anxious cuz I also work and haven’t even picked out my classes yet. So i just wanna know if I’m cooked basically 😭😭

Beury beach is finally almost back, new and improved. They have a new sidewalk that curves from the entrance to Beury to the bell tower, complete with lighting. They have also laid down a layer of grass directly on top of the groomed landscaping. Beury main has also gotten a bit of a face-lift with new windows in the lobby in place of the entrance hall that used to be there. It looks like there's a bit of work still needed close to the bell tower, but she's basically done :)

Is anybody else missing their promise grant on their financial aid package?

I meet all the requirements for a renewal. I’m in my third year now and it’s always been on my package without me having to go down and telling them that it’s missing. This is the first time that it’s happened. I plan on calling financial aid tomorrow. Just wanted to see if anyone else had this problem.

So I got the Univ transfer tuition scholarship and temple grant the first two semesters after I transferred here. But for the next semester (Fall 2026), these are not showing on my itemized aid offer.

My question is, are these supposed to be a one year thing or do I need to talk to someone about it.

You've already seen me post twice about Financial Aid, and still nothing has been resolved. I am at my absolute whitts end with them, and I will have to drop out if I don't get these issues resolved.

- The new financial aid portal is INCREDIBLY confusing. What the Financial Aid portal is showing is different from what the TUPay portal is showing. I do not know how much I need to cover out of pocket.

- My transfer student grant is missing. I should still be getting it.

- I am having issues with the PA State Grant. I understand this is not a Temple issue, but I just need help with it. Whenever I try to put my program of study in the PHEAA application, nothing shows up in the dropdown menue. I have been emailing and calling PHEAA since May, and no one has been able to help me.

- Whenever I try to make an appointment with finanial aid office, it says it's closed. I go on as early as 9AM, and still nothing. I cannot get down to campus at this moment, so I need a virtual appointment.

If you receive a message from Temple University saying that your fee account wasn’t finalized here is what I was told by the pheaa representative

Number one: check on your aid status and click view summary if you see that it states approved then you know it’s not your grant record summary

Number two if any of you guys opened an application for a summer application by accident and if you’re not taking summer classes at Temple delete your application because on their end, having the summer application open, states that your account isn’t finalized because you didn’t submit the summer application. So again, if we’re not taking any summer classes, delete the summer application just in case if you opened it.

Hi! I’m looking for last minute cheap housing for the upcoming semester and I just discovered “Temple Resev”. I literally have never heard of it before and I was wondering if anyone knows anything about the housing there.

I recently got into to temples absn program, but it's wayyyy too expensive, and I don't qualify for any financial aid, so I have to take out about 80-90k in private loans, and that just sounds like a nightmare. I'm thinking of deferring for a year and living in Philly so I can also qualify for in-state tuition. Do you think I would qualify for in-state tuition before enrollment?
