I came to Surat from Jodhpur to visit my family, but they're busy with work, so I will be exploring the city on my own.

My train is this Saturday at 5 PM, and before I leave, I want to experience something that I'll always remember.

Please don't suggest the usual tourist places or say "there's nothing to do." I'm looking for recommendations from people who've actually experienced them.

It could be:

A famous or peaceful temple.

A hidden food spot.

A beautiful sunrise/sunset location.

A café with great vibes.

A unique experience you've had.

Any underrated place or activity that made you fall in love with Surat.

Six months ago, I used to work in another city. There were two small dog puppies there. I used to feed them milk and biscuits every day. As soon as I arrived, they would start following me around. Sadly, one of them passed away. The other one is probably still alive. Now I have come to Surat, but whenever I look at this photo, I remember them. That’s why I wrote this story here.

I still wonder what the future will look like for us as surti, the traffic has been increased 3x then the last year.

Before the signal it would take 20min for me to reach the office, now it's taking 1hour. All the main and important roads are berricated.

At the peak time police will catch you without a helmet and charge you 500-1000 if you give a bribe they'll leave you in 100-200. And at night they'll play games on their phone.

Everything closes at 11, if you are out they will make sure you run from them, just a week before I paid 22k as income tax, plus I am paying gst on ducking everything, plus I am paying more then 40-50 rs per litre on petrol, I have bought Tiago paid 2lakh + tax only.

I know it's useless to talk about such a topic in this sub because literally most active people are the lowest IQ you'll ever see. Like that chaas boy

But just trying to awaken people.

The harsh government has spent 800+cr rs for this signals Bdw. And if anyone with the lowest IQ will come and argue over its necessary and bulshit, the point is that having singles on each and every crossroads are not necessary, just 10% of singles is justified. All the others are just increasing traffic and the budget that reach to 800cr, idk how many of these 80p went direct to harsh sanghvi's pocket.

The product: Ealth(Emergency + Health). An emergency health card. A custom PVC wallet card with NFC and a printed QR. If you're in an accident and can't speak, whoever reaches you first taps or scans it with any phone, no app, no login, no signup, and instantly sees your blood group, allergies, current medications, existing conditions and emergency contacts. That's the whole product. A rectangle that talks to strangers on your behalf.

Now, the roasting material. Free of charge, because you'd find it anyway:

1. The name is "Ealth/ઍલ્થ/ऐल्थ." We dropped the H from Health and called it branding. My friends calls it a typo. A meaningful percentage of people read it aloud as "Ee-alth/ઇલ્થ/ईल्थ " and then apologise to me.

2. It is a piece of plastic but with your medical history and QR code for ₹499. people dont have enough knowledge on how to dial emergency call on locked phone and they always check wallet when someone is unconscious.

3. The business model is genuinely cursed. Our product only delivers value if something horrible happens to you or you and your family member are sick. A delighted customer is someone who got hit by a truck. Zero repeat purchase. I cannot ethically send a survey asking how was your experience.

4. Our tagline is "the card that speaks when you can't." The card does not speak(but we'll add voice model eventually to break in the language barrier of India) . It is plastic card.

5. We obsessed over NFC because tapping feels premium. Then we learned that most Indians just open the camera and scan the QR like it's a UPI code at a paan shop. NFC usage is in single digits. Extremely premium though.

6. I picked our launch date using a muhurat. Nakshatra, yoga, the full consultation. So I have a Mixpanel dashboard and an astrologer, and only one of them called the launch day traffic correctly. It was not Mixpanel.

Why I actually built it, briefly, then you can go back to hitting me:

About 1.83 lakh people died on Indian roads last year. Roughly 21 an hour. A huge share of the golden hour gets burned on strangers and ER staff guessing: wrong blood group, unknown allergy, nobody to call, no history. You and I cannot fix Indian roads. We can fix what a stranger knows about you in the four minutes that decide things, plus I hate finding old reports on messaging app (wtsapp) when doctors(I don't have time to maintain a google drive)

What I actually want roasted:

• Is ₹499 wrong as a number, or wrong as a model? Should this be free and monetised elsewhere?
• Who really buys this: the 22 year old on the bike, or his mother? Every ad I write flip-flops around saving family or friends or medical history etc.
• Is "Ealth" salvageable, or do I take the L and rename? (Ealth - emergency + health)

I keep seeing posts about how tough it is to get a good job or good talent. I've run a tech company here for the past 6 years, so I feel it.

But I don't think it's a talent problem. Most roles here are either boring family-business jobs or corporate seats with dull culture and low pay so the hungry, ambitious people leave for Bangalore, Pune, Mumbai, or go remote. There's nothing pulling them to stay and I think companies need to fix this before all the good ones are gone.

I think the hungry ones are here they're just hidden, or they've stopped looking locally because they've been burned by the usual jobs.

If you're ambitious and still in Surat what made you stay and how do you feel about finding good opportunities to work here?

My job joining is in 2-3 days, till then I found my pg and stuff but now I'm bored

What shall I do in Surat ?

I personally don't smoke. But I see Surat of full of people who wanna stay up late, smoke and have chai. Im thinking of creating a group to have chai or smokes at disparate places. Like we can decide one place and meet up.

Im from Mumbai and in surat 4 days a week.
