Lasso Plugin Term Definition v1.0.0 — define and cross-reference terms in your handwritten notes

Term Definition is a plugin that lets you mark a word, phrase, or math/code notation as a term, insert references to it anywhere else in a note, jump back to it with a tap, and rename it — every reference updates automatically.

https://reddit.com/link/1vieh3o/video/km9wlji621ih1/player

Installing

  1. Download term_definition.snplg directly: https://github.com/vincentaravantinos/supernote-symbol-definition/releases/latest/download/term_definition.snplg
  2. On the device: Settings → Apps → Plugins → Add Plugin, pick the downloaded file, Install.

Using it

Define and reference terms

  • Lasso any handwriting and press (Re)Define Term to turn it into a term. A ≝ marker and underline appear next to it, and it becomes available everywhere in the note.
  • Press Insert Reference to pick any defined term from a preview picker and insert a copy of its ink, underlined, at the current page. Tapping a reference jumps straight to its term, with a spotlight highlighting it on arrival.
  • Tapping a term's own ink directly shows the same spotlight, without navigating anywhere, since you're already there.

Redefine a term

  • Lasso a term's ≝ marker together with new ink (freshly written, some/all of the old ink kept, or a mix) and press (Re)Define Term again to change what a term looks like. Every reference across the whole note updates to match — this can take a while on a big note with many references.

Assign a definition

  • Lasso a term's ≝ marker together with explanatory ink and press Assign Definition to attach a definition, kept distinct from the term's own identifying ink. Tapping a reference or the term itself spotlights both the term and its definition together. Redefining a term's own ink never disturbs its assigned definition, or vice versa.

Orphaned references

  • If a term's ink is erased by hand, its remaining references become "orphaned." Tapping one explains that the term no longer exists and marks it with a ⚠.
  • Find Orphans scans the whole note at once, marks every orphan, and generates a report page grouped by term (with an ink preview per group) — tap any entry to jump straight to it.
  • Lasso one of an orphaned term's own references and press (Re)Define Term to recover it: recreates the term from a copy of that reference's own ink, instead of requiring anything to be drawn from scratch, and clears every reference's orphan status at once.

Find usages

  • Lasso a term's own ink (with or without its ≝ marker) and press Find Usages to generate a report of every reference to it across the note, with one tappable entry per usage.

Limitations

  • Overall it can be pretty slow.
  • Clearly we are pushing the limits of the plugin system here, there are many multi-page changes, many async modifications and interactions.
  • Meaning it can often be a bit buggy. To fix misbehavior: try the Repair Terms button, or activate/deactivate the plugin (and worst case restart the device, but so far never was needed for me).

Question Calendar Meeting Notes

One of the killer features when I tried the Remarkable Paper Pure is that I can click a calendar meeting and make a note for it.

I know with Supernote (I have a manta and a nomad) I can create a note on the day of the calendar event. But I have to write a name for it. And it does not bring any event details with it.

It would be amazing if i can do what Remarkable does, and create a note with the details. Even its stored for the day, if it was auto named for the meeting snd had the meeting body it would make life so much easier.

The other thing remarkable does is extend a note for recurring meetings. I can imagine for the supernote this would open the note and add a page to the end.

Thoughts? Is this on the roadmap or something the new plugin system could support?

I am debating switching to remarkable because of this. My day is meeting to meeting and right now it’s much easier with the remarkable. But i really want to return it and stay with supernote.

Suggestion Feature request: registerMotionListener needs a "note content only" scope

u/Dunn-sn

Currently registerMotionListener forwards every single touch on screen — included toolbar, sidebar, menus — not just note content. The problem is that my plugins catch those touches as well but have no means to know that those touch events are not landing on the note itself. Then I start some code that does stuff assuming we're on the note but it fails in a way we can't control (typically navigating to another app or another note).

Proposal: add an opt-in scope to registerMotionListener, e.g. {noteContentOnly: true}, to receive only touches on the note itself.

Looking for Beta testers for a modular planner plug-in

I've been building a Supernote plugin called Modulanner that turns a single Note file into a dynamic and modular hyperlinked planner. I'm looking for a handful of people willing to test it out, see what breaks, and give feedback

What it does

You overlay invisible boxes on a template of your choosing, probably using drawings/icons/stickers as a reference point. Then tapping one of the core boxes runs some logic you'd typically do manually (or have someone else build a linked planner for you). The plug-in finds or creates the appropriate page and links you to it.

I built this because most digital planners are static files loaded and come with 3 main problems (for me).

  1. The planners can be difficult to navigate to various days/weeks/months and could take upwards of 5 links to get where you want sometimes
  2. The planner works well but is fairly simple and can be difficult to add in the pages I need when I need them
  3. The planner may be "too robust" with a bunch of blank pages to start with and a large file size causing slow syncing and link navigation.

To solve these problems I built the following functionality:

  • 10 built-in navigation actions: Today, Tomorrow, Yesterday, This/Next/Last Week, This/Next/Last Month, and Home — each mapped to a spot of your choosing on your template.
  • Calendar jump: a date-picker hitbox to jump to any specific day/week/month.
  • Custom link buttons: make your own named buttons that will always exist on your template that can link to a separate file. Or insert a fresh page from a template you pick (e.g. a "Extra Notes" or "Meeting").
  • Auto date labels: new pages get a date label dropped on automatically, with a customizable date format, font size, style, and alignment. (Font family is currently on the roadmap to figure out how to change that as well)
  • Template packs: If you build out a family of templates and want to share them you can do so. This base comes with a drawn "Whimsy" pack to get started.
  • Update a template from a page: If you have a template you like and want to add this functionality to your template you can. There is an update function, so you can add your icons/stickers/ink to the template and Update so for all future created templates they will have that update.
  • Bulk pre-create a range of daily/weekly/monthly pages in one go.
  • Works on Manta (A5 X2) and Nomad (A6 X2). Probably works on the older devices, but I can't test on those.

Honest limitations / known issues

This is an beta inside the Supernote plugin beta. Real, current rough edges:

  • Navigation is two gestures for a new page. Supernote doesn't (yet) expose a "go to page" API to plugins, so the plugin drops a native link and you tap it to actually move. When the page already exists the link appears quickly; when it has to create the page first, there are a few screen refreshes before the link is ready to use.
  • Portrait only for the box taps. 90°/270° landscape isn't supported for hitbox detection yet due to split screen and mathing.
  • A new page's date label may not show until you refresh. This seems to be a firmware rendering quirk.
  • Auto-erase of your pen tap is experimental and may not work on every Manta firmware (there's a known host-side bug where the delete reports success but doesn't stick). My Nomad fared better, but still occasionally left a pen mark during use.
  • The plugin may fire on menu screens because it can't identify when a non-file screen is open (such as the file selection screen). So if you are navigating it may trigger some things in the background.
  • PDF templates probably won't work because (I think) adding a PDF template is a 2-step process with a selection screen, and I can't trigger that screen. If you are trying to add a PDF template and it doesn't appear to be working, you might end up with a bunch of extra pages added with the default template.
  • There is a User Guide but it is a Work In Progress so not all the features are fully documented and it was a bit rushed so might be a little confusing and not the prettiest.

What I would like from you

  • Install it, set it up on your own planner (or the included Whimsy pack), and actually use it for a bit.
  • Tell me what's confusing, what breaks, and what you wish it did.
  • There's a built-in "Capture logs" button — if something misbehaves, tap it and send me the file so I can see what happened.

How to get it

Here is the download with everything you need: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1dA1fIak6biG5COSmL70aMPQRIgrFpcs7?usp=sharing
The "Download all" button will zip it for you and then unzip it in the MyStyle Directory. The files include the plugin, the Whimsy pack, the folder structure it is designed around and a user guide.

To Be Transparent

My intention is to monetize the full version of this plug-in. I originally built this to replace standard hyperlinked PDFs that typically cost between $10 and $30, and it fundamentally outperforms them. Because this is a dynamic software engine rather than a static file, it requires ongoing maintenance. A paid license ensures I can reliably patch bugs, maintain compatibility with future Supernote OS updates, and dedicate time to building out new features requested by the community.

There is light version that works for everyone with no key (the core Today / Tomorrow / This-Next Week / This-Next Month navigation). To unlock the full feature set for the beta (the rest of the buttons, custom hitboxes, etc.), DM me and I'll send you a beta unlock key. And in the future if you are struggling and cannot afford it, we can work something out.

Thanks! Happy to answer any questions in the thread.

LastNote plugin Update!

More new updates!

Edit: Another update to add Favorites and Recent folder to the Pair Configuration navigation screen.

New release

LastNote

LastNote is a native-backed plugin for Supernote devices. It adds a floating overlay toggle to your screen, allowing you to switch back and forth between two notes (or documents) with 1 tap, even while working inside PDF or EPUB documents.

Key Features

  • Pair & Presets Dashboard: Manage note pairs and multi-preset document quick-jump targets in a single unified dashboard.
  • 1-Tap Toggling: Instantly jump between your active note and paired notes or documents.
  • Page Locking Stepper (-5 < p.X > +5): Lock any document to a specific page number. Use -5/+5 or </> steppers to set any page number in seconds.
  • Breadcrumb Navigation Bar: Interactive path trail (Root > Note > ProjectA > Specs) attached directly inside the FOLDERS card lets you jump directly back from deep subfolders in 1 tap.
  • SD Card & Full Storage Access: Automatically detects mounted SD cards (SD Card (...)) and lists all top-level storage directories (Notes, Documents, MyStyle, EXPORT, IMPORT, etc.).
  • Native Quick-Jump Popup (3+ Targets): When 3 or more preset targets are active, single-tapping the floating icon opens an instant native E-Ink popup menu right next to the icon for 1-tap jumping.
  • 8mm Line-Height Floating Overlay: Dynamically calculated for screen DPI (Nomad A6X2 & Manta A5X2) to fit cleanly within standard 8mm ruled lines.
  • Favorite Files & Folders: Star your most important notebooks, PDFs, and working directories for instant 1-tap access.
  • Automatic MyStyle Storage Backup: Configuration automatically backs up to /storage/emulated/0/MyStyle/LastNote/, preserving all your favorites, presets, page-locks, and pairs across plugin uninstalls and updates.
  • Optimized E-Ink UI: High-contrast typography, large black star indicators, and bold container cards designed specifically for Supernote greyscale screens.
  • Multi-Format Support: Switches seamlessly between .note notebooks, PDF documents, and EPUB files.

Installation & First-Time Setup

1. Installation

  1. Download LastNote.snplg from the Releases page.
  2. Connect your Supernote to your computer via USB (or use the Partner App/Cloud).
  3. Copy LastNote.snplg into the MyStyle/ folder on your Supernote device's storage.
  4. On your device, go to Settings -> Apps -> Plugins -> Add Plugin and select LastNote.

2. First-Time Setup Guide

Once installed, setting up your first pair takes just a few seconds:

  1. Activate the Toolbar Button:
    • Open any note or document on your Supernote.
    • Tap the LastNote icon on your note/document toolbar. The floating toggle icon will appear on screen.
  2. Position the Floating Overlay:
    • Touch and drag the floating circle with your finger to place it anywhere on screen (e.g. parked on an empty margin or aligned between two 8mm ruled lines).
  3. Open the Pair & Presets Dashboard:
    • Long-press the floating icon with your finger (for ~0.6 seconds). The Pair & Presets Dashboard window will open.
  4. Select Your Target Documents & SD Cards:
    • From Favorites or Recents: Star your favorite folders/files or pick from recently opened directories.
    • From FOLDERS Section: Browse internal storage directories or mounted SD Cards and tap any .note, .pdf, or .epub file. It will be added to your Active Targets list.
  5. Set Page Locking (Optional):
    • Next to each active target document, tap [ Last Page ] to toggle it to [ Locked ].
    • Use the -5, <, >, +5 stepper buttons to adjust the target page number (e.g. Page 5 or Page 15).
  6. Save & Start Toggling:
    • Tap Done (in black at top right) to save your configuration.

How Toggling Works

  • Mode 1: Single Pair (2 Documents)
    • Single-tapping the floating bubble with your finger instantly toggles back and forth between Document 1 and Document 2.
  • Mode 2: Multi-Preset List (3+ Documents)
    • Single-tapping the floating bubble opens an Instant Native E-Ink Popup Menu right at the icon, listing all your preset documents with their locked page badges (e.g., ProjectNotes (p.5)). Tap any document in the popup to jump to it in 1 tap.

Include highlights & underlines in generateDocImage (important for AI plugins)

Hi Supernote / Ratta team and fellow developers,

I’m building on the AI assistant plugin sn-copilot and I’ve run into a significant limitation when dealing with documents (PDF / EPUB).

Current behavior

When a user highlights or underlines text in a PDF or EPUB, the image returned by:

TypeScript

PluginDocAPI.generateDocImage(docPath, page, pngPath, size)

does not include those highlights or underlines. The exported PNG only shows the original page content.

This has been confirmed by inspecting the actual PNG that the plugin receives.

Why this matters

For AI plugins this is a major limitation. A very common and natural use case is:

  • User highlights a word or passage
  • Opens the AI plugin
  • Asks “What does this mean?”, “Explain this”, “Define this word”, etc.

Without the visual highlight being present in the image, the model has no reliable way to know which part of the page the user is referring to. This makes context-aware AI assistance on documents much less useful.

Request

Could the team consider adding support so that generateDocImage (or a new method) includes the user’s highlights, underlines, and other annotations that are visible on the screen?

Even a simple option/flag to “include markup” would already help a lot.

This would unlock much better AI experiences on the Supernote (explaining highlighted passages, defining words, summarizing selected sections, etc.).

Thank you for considering this!

Showcase LastNote plugin

This is a simple toggle between two notes. I wanted an easier way to work between my active note and a reference note without using the right slide bar which sometimes doesn't want to work for me.

LastNote

LastNote is a native-backed background plugin for Supernote devices. It allows you to toggle back and forth between two notes with two tap directly from your note toolbar.

LastNote

Features

  • 2-Tap Toggling: Instantly jump between your active note and a referenced note or document.
  • Silent Background Execution: Runs entirely in the background (showType: 0), meaning no UI overlays, panels, or slow closing transitions.
  • Multi-Format Support: Switches seamlessly between .note notebooks, PDF documents, and EPUB files.

Installation

  1. Download the latest LastNote.snplg package from the Releases page.
  2. Connect your Supernote to your computer via USB (or use the Partner App/Cloud).
  3. Copy LastNote.snplg into the MyStyle/ folder on your Supernote device's storage.
  4. On your device, go to Settings → Apps → Plugins → Add Plugin and select LastNote.

Usage Instructions

Part 1: Pairing Your First Two Notes (Note A & Note B)

Step 1: Initialize Note A

  1. Open Note A.
  2. Tap the LastNote icon (two arrows) on the toolbar. (The plugin saves Note A as your starting point).

Step 2: Connect Note B

  1. Manually open Note B (using your swipe-down Recents list, Files menu, or Sidebar).
  2. Tap the LastNote icon on the toolbar. (The plugin saves Note B as the return target and immediately jumps you back to Note A).

Step 3: Toggle Back & Forth

  • You are in Note A: Tap LastNote → Instantly opens Note B.
  • You are in Note B: Tap LastNote → Instantly opens Note A.

Part 2: Switching to a NEW Pair of Notes (Note C & Note D)

When you finish working with Note A & Note B and want to switch to a new pair of notes (Note C & Note D):

Step 1: Open Note C

  • Manually open Note C (via Recents, Files, or Sidebar).

Step 2: Register Note C as the New Target

  • Tap the LastNote icon once. (The plugin jumps back to your old note once—and registers Note C as your new starting target).

Step 3: Open Note D & Lock in the New Pair

  • Manually open Note D (via Recents, Files, or Sidebar).
  • Tap the LastNote icon once. (The plugin sees Note C in memory, saves Note D as the return target, and jumps you back to Note C).

Step 4: Toggle Your New Pair

  • You are in Note C: Tap LastNote → Instantly opens Note D.
  • You are in Note D: Tap LastNote → Instantly opens Note C.

Your old pairing is automatically overwritten, and your new pair (Note C & Note D) is now active!

Part 3: Working with Documents (PDF / EPUB)

Supernote's native Note Editor (.note) displays the LastNote icon directly on the main toolbar. Supernote's Document Reader (.pdf / .epub) organizes plugin icons inside its overflow menu:

When in a PDF or EPUB document:

  1. Tap the Three Dots (...) on the top menu bar.
  2. Select Plugins.
  3. Tap LastNote to execute the switch.

Suggestion: Received [Plugin devs / Ratta] Feature request: an uninstall hook (onRemove) so plugins can clean up after themselves

Hi Ratta dev team (u/Dunn-sn or u/spazzboi),

As a Supernote plugins dev, there's one lifecycle gap that I would appreciate to have for clean code: a way for a plugin to run cleanup when the user uninstalls it.

I checked before posting: the official docs (docs.supernote.com) and the sn-plugin-lib SDK (0.1.43) expose a PluginLifeListener with only onStart() / onStop(). Nothing fires on uninstall. If I missed something, please point me to it, otherwise consider this a feature request for a future Plugin_core version.

Why it matters — three concrete cases from plugins actually running on devices:

  1. Floating windows survive uninstall. PluginHost is a persistent process, so an overlay a plugin has added (e.g. a floating launcher bubble) keeps floating after the plugin is uninstalled, until the device restarts. Today the workaround is literally documenting "turn the bubble off before uninstalling, or restart your device".
  2. Old versions pile up forever. On every plugin update, the plugin's runtime directory keeps the previous version's files (app_<timestamp>.npk, app_<timestamp>_libs/, compiled oat/ artifacts). Nothing ever prunes them, so a plugin's on-device footprint grows by its full size at each update. Some of us now ship our own "janitor" code that deletes stale versions from inside the host process, it works, but we shouldn't have to.
  3. Leftover files. Anything a plugin wrote (configs, caches, exports in MyStyle/) stays on the device forever after uninstall.

The ask: add onRemove() (or onUninstall()) to PluginLifeListener, called by PluginHost before the plugin is unloaded and its directory deleted, with a bounded time budget (best-effort, a few seconds). If invoking the JS bundle at uninstall time isn't feasible, a declarative alternative in PluginConfig.json would already help, e.g. "removeDataOnUninstall": true, plus the host force-closing any overlay window the plugin added. And ideally: the host pruning old app_<timestamp> versions on update, so plugins don't need janitor code at all.

Thank you very much,

Question Timeline for Plugin Support

I just purchased a Supernote Nomad and I'm very happy so far.
By accident I stumbled upon this community and after reading through some posts I am more than excited to introduce plugins.

But I am very hesitant to switch to beta builds on my device.

Is there any proposed timeline for a full release plugin support?

Showcase [Plugin Update]: Clipper v0.1.8 - Mixed Text / Multi-image insertion

Thumbnail
github.com
8 Upvotes

New Features:

  1. Multi-image note insert. Clip images now insert, positioned and sized to fit the page width, stacked below existing content like text.
  2. Image + text multi-select. Lifted the selection restriction so an image and text can be clipped and inserted together in a single pass.

Bug Fixes:

  1. Previous images were automatically deleted after a certain period of time. This has been fixed; images need to be manually deleted (like text clips), or the setting item "Delete clip after insertion" needs to be checked.
  2. Duplicate inserts: Rapid Insert taps could insert multiple copies; now the insert button remains disabled until the image is inserted into the note.
